Madlib had some dancehall mc snippets in his most recent album Sound Ancestors that reminded me to listen to this again. It was great in that sense I felt, there was bits that made me think of Rock Konducta or Flight to Brazil etc and it was cool to see him flex all his muscles and pull from all his bag of tricks on the one project. I should probably be writing this under one of those videos but the larger point was, I hope it makes people go back, or check out for the first time, his older more thematic work.
Best sense of knowledge and wisdom to the people who have been in the dark, the fact that our music has always had the most profound impact in our culture
couldn't agree more, in fact I feel as though music is losing it's purpose in the new age unfortunately, simply because it's so diluted and the goal has changed. Of course there's still great music in the world but one has to dig further to find it.
