  • A quick Overnight Micro Adventure.
I wanted to explore the land beyond Devils Bridge in Wales, but it's just a bit to far a journey to do in one go, so decided on an overnight stop and the Camping and Caravanning club and Rhandirmwyn in the Cambrian mountains. I wanted to ride around the shores of Llyn Brianne which is a large manmade reservoir in the middle of nowhere.
I rode my trusty Royal Enfield Himalayan which has now clocked well over 13K miles and is returning around 90MPG.
    Altogether a wonderful little adventure.
All music in this video is from the CZcams audio library:
Hope you enjoy this adventure and thanks for watching

Wiltshire, Wales, and a Himalayan. What a great combination. I've been looking at Himalayan, then meteor, then interceptor, all very appealing bikes, but I think Himalayan, and exploring remote places with little to no traffic, and experiencing the countryside and nature, and finding nice cafes and places to eat, is the more appealing option I think. I hope to get my A2 done, and be getting out and about on an RE myself by next year hopefully. I haven't ridden a bike since I was a teenager, when you could ride the old abandoned railway tracks in the 80's. I still remember that feeling of freedom and adventure.

A lady fish enriched in the good ole cream of the Wild West. The creamery must be visited at once the old postman once said. During the winter if 1665 the town and people developed a fish called Lewis who terrorised the neighbourhood by night. The fish climbed onto a wooden horse and made for the ancient city of liquidness. The liquid enriched all.

Another superb adventure Sandy, a chilled chug up the Devil's staircase and great views all around. You were sadly accurate with your vision of the not too distant future. Unfortunately most people will walk blindly into it, falsely believing it's for the best. Like you I hope that bikes will be here forever, we can dream, soon that's all we'll have left 😢

I think they will gradually bit by bit take some of our freedoms away. Future generations may accept this as they are being weened off the life style of freedom and educaated to accept a life mostly indoors or on some sort of AI program where all they will do is wear headsets and sit on sofa's.
As for those of us that still have the mindset of older folk and can look back a few years to how things were, well they just have to wait not so long and most of us will be dead or incapacitated in some way and then they will stop a lot of things!
As for the electric veheicles there isn't the infrastructure to enable mass ownership and I am circumspect as to really how "Green" these vehicles will be!

Great video! I did the Devils Staircase on my Vespa GTS300 this August, rode from home near Ringwood to Llangollen for the Vespa Club of GB’s 70th anniversary. Spent two days there then set off on a 600 mile Welsh Odyssey talking in the Staircase etc, only day it rained in 800 miles! Wales is a fantastic and so varied country, beautiful. Hard to beat for a rode trip! Thank you for this!

I smiled as I heard the fiddle music at the beginning of the video, a sound reminiscent of the music in Ken Burns "The Civil War" series. Juxtaposing the ride with that sound felt like a good combination and put me in the mood for some solo riding adventure.
The landscape, especially on a gray day, looks positively ethereal. And the aerial footage from the drone is fantastic. What a great adventure. I really am grateful that you've taken the time to create the video and share it. I'm sitting here thinking it's time I go for a solo camping ride!

What a lovely part of the country, I must visit one day. Its interesting you say you enjoy this journey on your RE more than your v-strom. I nearly bought a v strom, now test rode some RE and I'm in love. Its not about power and speed, it's how the bike makes you feel on it. They have a charm that cannot be described in words. I much prefer plodding along B roads and this is where the Himalayan is happiest. Thanks for sharing.

    • @WiltshireMan
      @WiltshireMan  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Nick,
I've seen a few of your videos on the CBF125 I think. Yes I have a Vstrom 1000 but for 90% of the time I'll ride the Himalayan and the big bike stays in the garage and only comes out on odd occasions. I'm thinking of adding a Royal Enfield Interceptor to my fleet of bkes for my 60th birthday in October. Nowadays I tend to keep my bikes whereas in the past I would have had to sell one to buy another, but no mortgage now and things are a bit easier but just only a bit...!
I find the lower powered bikes just right for the type of riding I do, often the big Suzuki barely gets out of 3rd gear, just no need for the big horse power in these modern times

What a gorgeous video, couldn’t agree more about motorways… who the hell wants them🤷‍♂️. I dream of owning a bmw gs800 to do exactly what you do but i spend money on wild camping stuff and can’t justify buying a bike☹️, plus my border collie comes everywhere with me. You’re a top bloke Sandy, with some great hobbies and a very skilled craftsman too. I could just sit and listen to that bike chugging away all night👍

Thanks for taking us along on the ride, absolutely beautiful scenery you have there and even better having it all to yourself. I agree you don't need a big fast bike for trips like that, it's nice to poke along at slower speeds and have the chance to take in all the beautiful scenery. Good to see Mandy up and about, and the dogs certainly get excited to see you, got to love an excited dog.

I really enjoyed this adventure, some great drone shots and views. I 100% agree with you about the Himalayan , speed isn’t everything and riding these wonderful roads with such fantastic scenery at slower speeds enables you to take it all in. I bought my Himalayan just before Christmas and it has been my go to bike for my ride outs exploring the lanes of Cheshire, Derbyshire and North Wales it is in my top three favourite bikes I have ever owned ( and I’ve been riding a long time!)

@@WiltshireMan Since you wrote this reply, I have been looking at those bikes and sure do want one. I think that that make and model would be a great one for me. We actually have a dealer for the Royal Enfields right here in Alaska. Unfortunately they are asking quite a bit of money for the Himalayan here in Alaska. Down on the West Coast in the lower 48 states, they are asking about $1500 US dollars less for the same model. If I ever do decide to get one in the future, I very well may fly down to the US West Coast and buy one there and then ride it up here. I have traveled that highway through Canada several times and that would be a great trip. Or maybe I can find someone driving a pickup or trailer up from down there and give them 500$ to pick one up down there for me and bring it up with them.

75 mpg is great for an 800 bike Richard, I'll often get 60mpg from the Vstrom 1000 and the Himalayan is always above 85 and running nice with nearly 14K miles on the clock. I guess it's run in now:)
