EP.4 - Incredible day WALES! SOLO MOTORCYCLE TRIP UK - Snowdonia Park, Devil's Staircase - Desert X

- A rollercoaster ride, that’s what this day was. Of course, one hopes for great weather during their rides and although I really don’t mind rain and strong winds, I just simply love documenting my trips A LOT and I knew Snowdonia National Park would be my area to go wild. But, when Wales gives me rain, I simply continue riding. It was a rollercoaster ride with (literal) ups and downs, what an incredible day!
Luckily it looked less foggy on the camera’s than it was in real life. My everlasting self-doubt got ignited as I got into my head again when I had some unforeseen unpaved roads, but I decided to tackle it. At some point I have to get more confident off the road, right?

Brilliant vids. I admire your skill, pluck and perseverance. When the rain is so persistent I ride for home, but then I can. When abroad we also have to stick with it.

Wonderful video. It's always interesting to see somewhere familiar through the eyes of someone seeing it for the first time, you really captured the essence of North Wales. I think the mountains of both Wales and Scotland have far more character in less than perfect weather, they are more... real.

Marshfield ice cream is delicious, they are based no far from where I currently live. when Wales has clear sky's it's fantastic, just like Scotland.
So glad you visited Angelsy, my grandparents lived ther, the trips up on th A5 through are so precious.

That reminds me of why I live up here now. And makes me grateful I can ride around when the sun shines, not just in the rain. Come back again, it's much nicer with a little less water.

It Always rains in wales but when the sun comes out there no place more beautiful we used to the crap weather here in wales 😅 don't brake over cattle grids either 😂 Elan Valley res are beautiful and black mountains are great bike roads 😂
If you lived in the uk 🇬🇧, you’d be jealous of everywhere else, sadly over the last few years it has taken a real nosedive... but yes, it does have beautiful countryside, but that’s about it. Good luck with your travels, and great video btw🤙🤙🤙

I'm sure you must get compared to Itchy Boots all the time, and perhaps that annoys you, so apologies. Noraly is great in her own right but I'm never going to go on her adventures, but I will certainly ride some of yours, so for me I find you trips far more inspiring. Always a mistake to abandon a ride like that due to rain. It gives a whole different, unique atmosphere that others don't see. Just the usual precautions. Love what you've done with this bike too, looks epic.

Rain in Wales- what are the odds ;-) Devils Staircase, pity you didn't come in on the Llyn Brianne reservoir road, that has the most amazing route to the staircase- a stunning view ridge ride. Anyhoo, kudos to you for 'going for it' 🙂

Glad you posted this...after 42 years of riding and post-cancer..I just sold my 2021 GSA....just too heavy for me after losing 13kg
..I like what I hear about the Dessert X and your editing really brings out what the bike is all about...great job.
That must’ve been a tough decision, sorry to hear that and hope your health is doing well. The DX is an amazing bike, the best I’ve ever ridden 🙌🏼
At 71 and post cancer I sold my 1200GS and now have a KTM 390 Adventure. Have just finished a similar tour of Wales and looking forward to at least another 15 years of riding.
Croeso! Welcome to Wales. Nothing like a cold wet cattle grid to wake your skills up yeah lol. Best way is accelerate before then ride straight and come off everything until over it. dont turn and done rev or brake.
Snowdonia my birth place, although I don’t live there anymore, it’s where my heart is and I always love visiting , shame you didn’t see the view from the pen-y-pass car park, or the ride up, incredible 👌 I’ve walked Snowden and the Cribcoch

Great video.thanks. Wet cattle grids can become like ice, especially if you increase the throttle just as you go over them as I found out in the Lake district hence nearly came off my bike.

Thnx a lot! I must say I was pretty bummed and some sweating was involved, because I wanted to see the dam. But after so many hours it was time to eat and sleep haha.
We were in the Brecon Beacons for a walking holiday, and to say it was WET was an understatement. In the sun Wales is absolutely beautiful

You did really well, that whole area is very special and in taking that chance you really got some of the very best that North and Mid Wales has to offer, even if it was wet. I’ve been green laning there on and off over twenty years, it hasn’t changed much at all. Anyone who might be interested should check out the abbey at Strata Florida, and the absolutely incredible County Road trail that runs from there down to join the road close to the top of the Devil’s Staircase (lightweight bike and off road tyres pretty much mandatory!). Try standing up on your pegs more, have the bars comfortable seated / standing.
Leonoor, this video is fantastic. I myself don't mind such weather when riding. You discovered North Wales for me and now I need to go there :)
