Ristar Forever is a Custom Character Mod for Sonic 1 Forever, created by NotSoDevy.

The mod here replaces Sonic with a 1995 SEGA character by the name of Ristar, The Shooting Star.
One thing worth highly noting is that version 2 will add some new things, which one of them might potentially include his moveset from the original game.

In addition to the character mod, there is soundtrack remixes in the style of Ristar, originally created by BrianFan The Hedgehog. A perfect fit with the character involved.
