  • Optimism seems high amongst Sheffield Wednesday fans. Are they right to be expecting big improvements next season in Danny Rohl's after Danny Rohl's first full pre-season at Hillsborough?

You have to remember last season our optimism was rock bottom by Moore leaving, Chansiri being bonkers again, having half a squad just weeks before the season started and so with the opposite happening this summer it’s no wonder we’ve got positive vibes. Like we’re in a dream where our football club is run well!

The playoffs wouldn't surprise me, i think top 10 for sure, looks like Beadle is coming back in as signing number 7 and also looking like Bernard may resign as well. So much positivity around Hillsborough at the moment and it's down to one man who has revitalised the club and it seems Mr Chansiri has taken a back seat (for now), and backing Danny as it's clear he's got a gem of a manager.

It pains me to say it, but hats off to Chansiri. Credit where credit is due he's tied DR down to an extended contact, begun work on the improvements to the training ground, extended the technical team, signed down some key players to new deals and is definitely backing. DR in the transfer window nice and early. Also assume he's finding the two training camps ( St George's & Germany). Erratic is a good word to describe him sometimes. As long as he keeps up this sort if work, we may have a future yet. There seems to be a much better relationship between DR and Chansiri, from the outside in.

Hard to say how the season might go, re-signing Bernard would be huge đŸ€ž What I can say having been in the club shop twice in the last week is that there's an awful lot of positivity and it isn't just on social media. The manager is hugely popular, I've not seen the fans buy into a manager anywhere near this much in my 52 years. Fingers crossed for the rest of the summer, it's got to beat last season's pre-season that's for sure 😂

For the first time in many years we seem to be so organised on and off the pitch. The back room staff appear outstanding alongside Rohl and additions to the playing staff offer optimism plus new contracts taken up by important players. A real feel good factor at the club as Chansiri seems to be backing his manager. Promising

As a Blade I'm pained to suggest they might avoid the playoffs given Danny Rohl's amazing job and averaging 2 points per game. As for us - just avoid a relegation battle please - assuming we eventually manage to get a squad together!!

Hi Benjamin. Trust and believe in Danny. He always said the main thing was the 'process' of development, progressive improvement. The mantra of learning to walk before you can run, of running before you are able to sprint. With that in mind, a top half finish with a real sign of future potential success would do me just fine. Mr. Chansiri, initially, tried to buy Wednesday out of the Championship and, hence, the ensuing financial problems of the club. Time for him to now listen to the voice and wisdom of Danny (which appears to be the case) and to not, unduly, interfere with the 'process' being constructed. WAWAW.

I think we will be top 12 but play-offs might be a step to far. Beadle will make a difference if that deal gets done and with a few midfielders we might be in with a shout. Also important we get Bernard to sign another deal, if not another CB would be required. Still, a lot more positive than last year!

Anything can happen and usually does with Wednesday, but this off season is so un-Wednesday like. I think a lot of Wednesdayites including myself, were expecting Danny to be snapped up once the season finished, but to my surprise he signed a new 3 year contract. Then we've started signing everyone, 6 players through the door already with James Beadle soon to follow, on top of this out of contract players are re-signing, with only Dawson and Vaulks deciding not to stay. You never can tell what will happen, this is Wednesday after all, and no-one cocks things up like Wednesday, but god, up to now this has been a brilliant start to the season, I don't remember one quite like it and I'm 65. It's the Rohl effect, can we finish in the play offs? I wouldn't put anything past Danny Rohl. I think Leeds and Burnley will most likely get automatic promotion, but then it's any 4 from around 10 teams who will be more than capable, and Wednesday will be in that group. Exciting times are ahead. Good look in the Premier Benjammin, you've got a tough start, but no games are easy. UTO FTB

I can't believe we've been doing a lot of things right, it feels strange. 7 signings in (Beadle signed on loan after this was published) and we're not done yet! Wednesday have new players in Danny Rohl we trust we are going to have a go this new season. We could well be the Dark horse for the playoffs. Remember don’t right us off Ben remember the Peterborough game everyone said we’re dead. Barnsley at Wembley. Last season our last remaining games we won them. West Brom, Blackburn, Sunderland. Our huge support home and away. Especially away support 5,000 allocation sold out and we were at the bottom of the championship. Rohl is the best manager in the league. His coaching team is premier league quality (and the newest addition is the opposition analyst who won the europa league with Frankfurt) Chansiri deserves loads of credit, he's backing his man and keeping quiet. We've done great business so far - we confirmed Beadle's return this afternoon too.
Even if the season starts tomorrow, we're a stronger side than the one that was 7th in that form table. But it doesn't, we've still got a whole month to improve!
Dark Horses is a fair assessment i think. We're going to be a nightmare to play against, and i don't think we'll fear anybody. Obviously i'd love to see us taking a tilt at the top 6, and i think we might, but just a season where we play solid football and have a bit of stability will do me.

We will have a good season, but we will be nowhere near promotion. IMO
And with Chansirri, he's done exactly what the fans wanted.. left the club alone and let the people who know what they're doing run it, but allowed Danny to do his business, and given him money.

I don't see why Wednesday shouldn't be more successful than Real Madrid at this rate, with a 200,000 capacity stadium near the M1. 130,000 safe standing, internationals, northern cup finals, concerts and sponsoring schools in poor countries to educate youngsters for professions (finding new football talent at the same time!) A large capacity stadium could have lots of cheap/free admissions too!

Not for me, good head coach in Rohl, but they look a club with very little plan for me. Jamal Lowe is a decent pick up but that aside just looks like they lack any real ambition for me. A load of squad fillers with very little quality, 4 of them are free. No doubt their fans will be excited simply because they're doing some business, but it all just screams mid table at best.

@Secret19977 think it's pretty clear. You have very little money to spend, you've signed 2 cheap players and 4 freebies. Ambition isn't going straight out there, signing a load of experienced free agents then saying "pwah top 6 charge" because you've signed around 6 players really early đŸ€Ł wheres the quality? Seriously? Out of 6 signings the best is Jamal Lowe who was bang average at best at Swansea. This isn't a get at Wednesday either, I've told you, I quite like Wednesday. Open your eyes. Your fans were buzzing with Ingelsson...a 26 year old attacking midfielder with only 3 goals in 115 games in the German 2nd division. Pwah, quality.

We’ve added several new and significantly better players, signed up all those out of contract we wanted to keep and apparently expect a couple or so more significant players to join us. We will walk top 6 our form for the last 20 or so was seventh. Weaker teams coming down than going up. We will be in play offs imo.😂 As usual top YouTubing Ben well done mate.
