    Tracking your spendings is literally the most basic way to be on top of your financial independence journey. You can also use an app if you don't understand how these spreadsheets work. Very detailed video Brandon :) -Idy

    This is pretty cool! How do I use the spreadsheet with my significant other? Do we track it together or separately? Let me know what you think!

      That's really up to you and your partner! My wife and I kept our finances separate for most of our relationship (see www.madfientist.com/spouse-separate-finances/ and www.madfientist.com/sane-fientist-interview/) so first I tracked things separately. I've since joined everything together though to make it simpler so either way works.

    Hey Mad Fientist! Thanks so much for the spreadsheet! For multiple years do you create a new spreadsheet or just keep adding new month columns to this spreadsheet? Thanks!

      I personally create a new spreadsheet for every year but you could do either!

    Is income - net or gross?

    Any recommendations on how to add a pension to the equation?

    • @madfientist
      @madfientist  Před 5 lety

      Just reduce the amount you need your portfolio to generate in retirement by the pension amount (so if you need $4k per month to spend in retirement but have a pension that gives you $1k per month, your portfolio only needs to generate $3k per month)

    Hey Brandon, what's the easiest way to contact you with specific questions about the spreadsheet?

    Now if I can just remember how to download it without signing up again.
