I firmly believe that this was just a list by one guy who wanted to gain credibility by saying that it was a voting of 6.000+ people, but - I was trying to imagine that there were listeners and what kind of preferences they have in hip hop - this MF DOOM take was outright vomit inducing about one of the best rappers ever.

The “almost always lacks skill” tier is almost entirely incredible rappers. I think a lot of people doing this list haven’t heard of a lot of them
I think the reason that so many less-mainstream artists ended up in the shit tiers is because most people put then in the bottom "Don't Know" tier. Then, when they averaged out the positions, that tier got cut and the artists that were usually there ended up getting put with the legitimately hated artists.
This person put fucking Kendrick Lamar in S tier, Tyler the Creator in A tier, Nicki Minaj in B tier, and MF Doom in D tier. What the shit.

I’m not looking at the list at the moment but I recall no one from OutKast, Public Enemy, Wu Tang, Tupac, and not one person whose heyday was in the 80’s or very early 90’s like Eric B. and Rakim?!? Would be like a rock frontman tier list including literally no one from the 1950’s including Elvis, very few people from the 60’s, and yeah while they’re at it putting the guy from Jet over Janis Joplin and Iggy Pop.

Someone told me that Tier List has an issue where, when an user doesn't add something within the tier, the website takes it as if you put it in the bottom tier for their rankings. Therefore, it's highly possible the rappers at the bottom are there just because most users don't know them.

This is a problem with any community list for Tiermaker, because the "idk" tier is usually put at the bottom. So as another example movie lists are gonna skew towards Marvel since most people have seen them at least. I really wish tiermaker had a better way of filtering out "idk" tiers from averages

The list was badly concocted from the start. One thing that likely would've unskewed this list is the "I Don't Know" tier. Otherwise you get this monstrosity where certain incredible rappers with, ahem, niche audiences go in the "trash" tiers.
