Sugilite IS a balanced combo of Amethyst & Garnet. Amethyst is reckless, Garnet can be brash, and they can both be stubborn. This all adds up to make Sugilite an aggressive, reckless mess.

It also makes so much more sense when you consider it is ruby, amethyst, and sapphire fusing, not just garnet and amethyst. Ruby + Amethyst lol

the thing about fusion is that it's not just two people combined into one body, its an entirely new person with traits from both parts. The original personalities can lose control if they're fused for too long because the new personality doesn't want to disappear.
Know Iâm a year late, but Iâd like to add that I think itâs less that the fusion doesnât want to disappear and more that the original personalityâs become lost and they kinda forget who they used to be. Although itâs hard to clearly define how it works because fusion is more metaphorical than something that has rules and consistency.

Most of the VA's have some if not a lot of experience with music and singing, with music being a big theme of the show, specially with Deedee (Pearl) having Broadway experience and Estelle (Garnet) having a career in music (American Boy ft. Kanye West anyone?)
It's also funny because every song on the ost has to put Feat (whoever sung it)

Sad that they didn't have the budget to get Nick Minaj's voice again, so the fusion just apears again with no quotes :/
They should've thought about it through.. Having a superstar to voice a character would need way too much money. They should've casted like a normal voice actor
@@-i_own_you_- I agree, then they could use the fusions more often (specifically well liked classic ones like opal) and use them how they pleased without the voice being a drawback. Its like they gave themselves a bit of a handicap by choosing these really well in one celebrities to play themđ

it also makes sense that she was rarely used though, i mean she literally tried to murder pearl and was hurting steven. She just wasnt a very stable fusion

I like the interpretation that Greg was the most accurate simulation in the room cause he'd be the most clear/important in Steven's and/or Rose's mind.
@kaialone I think Greg was created just because Steven wanted someone to explain it to him (in the scene before it), like the time when he want to see Connie while she is changing costumes, so the room created a "Connie". There is also a time when it created Rose Quartz out of Steven's wish to see his mother.
And the reason why the people in that scene isn't very accurate is probably because Steven said he wanted to go out to grab some doughnuts but not specifically intended to meet someone.
I always thought that the room created the townâs people based off Stevenâs memory. If you think about it, since Rose & Greg were dating, Greg probably has been in the room so the room could accurately recreate him because it probably had direct experience of him.
Roses Room is such an interesting episode. Especially when you return to it after finishing atleast the main series (i wont spoiler. I'll also leave my analysis for this episode somewhere later down the line if it becomes more relevant).
However, something interesting is that the door was triggered by Steven wanting a room for himself where the gems cant come in. Kid really needs his privacy. (It also showed again, that Steven doesnt always get the attention a kid his age needs. And when he does, it's regardless of if he wants to be left alone or not.)
Yâall donât need to worry, as the series goes on the plot gets more intense so weâll always come back for more
Youâre saying the fusion being unstable is all amethyst but I think youâll be surprised in the future to learn more about garnet!!
The scene where connie disappeares is one of my favorite for it's framing.
Honestly Roses Room is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. Love when this show goes for a creepy vibe- and roses room still gives me chills everytime I watch it.

I like how in certain episodes half the plot, or some random item that will be really important later on gets revealed, and we donât know itâs important until later on.
I think it's genuinely just as much Garnet as Amethyst. Think about what a strong leader Garnet is, if she wanted to cancel out Amethyst she could; this is truly the amalgamation of both of their personalities.

Garnet has future vision. There is no way that she didn't see this coming, which makes me think that she did this, knowing that Pearl had a chance to gain some confidence too

In regards to losing yourself to fusion, I don't think that's a problem for any other fusion: at least, we don't hear about any of them risking it. I think it's just a problem for Sugilite because, as Garnet herself puts it in a later episode, she can be rash, Amethyst can be reckless, and they can both get carried away: combine those personalities without any other balancing personality included in the mix, and it makes sense that Sugilite would start becoming a more dominant personality. She's honestly a huge liability despite her power, and I think Garnet had the right idea benching her after this episode.

Boy, did this design age terribly. No wonder Sugilite never showed up with a voice again, lol.
I mean it did, and it didn't. I HEAVILY doubt the crewniverse had bad intentions with it - because, personality and appearance wise, Sugilite's design makes sense complete sense within their world.
It was just an unfortunate oversight that Pearl, who is white-coded and who's written as delicate and pristine individual with a graceful fighting style, ends up fighting Sugilite, the POC-coded fusion of two POC-coded characters, and who's portrayed as aggressive and barbaric in her ways.
I think Sugilite herself is fine and I love her character individually - it's just that the way she was contextualized in this episode ends up being... problematic. It's something that I can personally overlook in this case, though.
