I'm reading this book now! I'm regretting that I started reading past 12mn and I was saying, "2 chapters. Just 2 chapters." then I found myself constantly flipping pages and was shookt to see that it was 4am.
I really like Kuang's writing style. I felt like I was reading a manga/manhwa because her writing isn't too flowery nor is it lacking. I'm enjoying it so far. Very easy to imagine the world and follow through the story plus the main character is strong-willed and the story also incorporates a lot of chinese teachings and strategies. ❤️
Man the vivid description of violence made me so uncomfortable, it was the most difficult thing I've ever read and for this very reason I loved this book
I personally really liked that this book was "real" with its portrayal of how cruel life, and especially, war can be.
Loved your video
Also! The latter war part was inspired by the nanking massacre of 1937 by the japanesse so it adds so much more to the impact of this book to me.
I was waiting for you to talk about the book! Love u.
This book felt a lot like grimdark fantasy more than youngadult to me
I love you, Shannon.
I don't see how you didn't like the pacing in the middle but also say you wouldn't change anything and you loved everything?
