Wood is a waste and requires too much upkeep and they would be right back where they are now in no time due to the weather etc…no one is going to mind they are not wood framed windows. They look gorgeous and serve a larger purpose.

@@laurahosler1771 I was not saying the windows were not beautiful, nor that other choices than the original material was wrong (in any restoration, original material is just a better choice, but sometimes it is just too costly) 🙂 That is why I rather pointed that wood windows are extremely expensive (not only the purchase but also the maintenance), especially when there are so many windows to fix 😉

I hope the pointing in the cave is lime stone and saying cement was just a twist of translation. 😮

That looks like so much fun. I loved restoring the farm house I had. I would do it again. I’ve done ceiling repair, my place was so old it had horse hair mixed in with the plaster. No idea where they got enough horse hair to do all the walls.

Harry should wear at LEAST N-95 Particulate mask while cutting stone, slate, tiles, etc. The fine clay & stone silica particulates are known carcinogens. We want Harry to have a long, happy life. ❤️🙏

Your version of "pointing" in that cellar was incredibly painful to watch. That stonework was great and with proper pointing would would be stunning. Especially covering the doorway stones. 😢 Those are a feature not a problem.

For the pointing it would have been easier to use a large piping bag. Like bakers use. l

Oh those old horse stalls! How many horses lived there, that were used for pulling carriages for the residents.

on the other side of the outbuildings are more stables. But couldn’t tell you how many really would have been here. But love all the old barns ☺️
