When the pastor is over on time, I always feed them more snacks and throw more candy at them for answering questions correctly. I enjoy it. Can't speak for the other adults.

"Lot's wife" 🤣🤣 but I'm gonna need this to be a whole entire series of videos. "As long as no one dies" is the most real ministry statement ever.
“As long as no one dies.” That’s what I say to the babysitter on date night as we leave. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In my church, we have a whole child care unit for the girls (straight out of 1982). I asked why the boys didn’t have to learn this and was told it’s because girls babysit to earn money. I refuse to teach it because it’s literally as easy as making sure nobody dies. Lol
LOL! We met our nanny in college and gave her free reign on everything as long as the kids didn't die. Our kids were told when nanny is in charge, they obey her rules (more laxed than ours).
The main problem with her was her constant reports throughout our absence about how our kids weren't listening to her. Our response: "Ok, what consequence are you setting? We're not there to enforce the rule, that's why we're paying you. Don't let them get away with it or they won't respect you. Just do what you can, don't kill them, and give us a report when we return. We'll talk to the kids after our return. Let us know when the house burns down, someone breaks a bone, you crash the car and have to go to the hospital, or someone kidnaps the kids and tell us which Hospital, Police Station, our other sanctuary to meet you at.
I think we earned her trust on the "make sure they don't die" thing during a family theme park outing that included her. She took one child to have fun with the kiddie rides (their preference) and us older family members separated to enjoy the roller coasters for a couple hours. Storm came, park closed and evacuated early, and we communicated to Nanny our locations, meeting point, and time. During the chaos, our child in her care got separated and it took us an hour with the help of security and other good Samaritans to find her. She just followed someone else who looked similar to nanny from behind and ended up in a parking lot where she knew the general location of where we were parked.
Didn't fire her and just reviewed everything that happened. Praised her for what she did correctly, reminded her things do happen, and had her come up with a plan to prevent a separation from happening in the future (she's handicapped and walks with a cane.....holding hands with kid wasn't possible in the crowd.) Solution: Have kid lead in front and follow nanny's vocal instructions.

Children's Pastor here at a church in MN. 40 kids, ages infant through 5th grade. Elders just increased my budget for the current fiscal year. Not feeling her problems, but I could definitely use some people stepping up to help out with Kids' Church and VBS. Great one, John!

True words !!! That's why whenever I serve I take at list 2 different activities extra with me, usually papers to color and if the kids don't want to do that anymore I get out of control with them too haha
If the planned lesson is over, just put on music or cat videos and break out some legos. Just good innocent free time fun. sometimes being expected to sit quietly and focus on a single activity (like coloring) right after sitting quietly and focusing on a single activity (like bible lessons) is alot to ask of a little one. They looove any opportunity to get the wiggles out 😊 I love that you get crazy WITH them! That's awesome!
When my husband was a children's pastor years ago, the senior pastor decided to end early on Easter and said "Go enjoy easter with your family early" But My husband was still giving his lesson and had to announce "Sorry parents, Jesus is still IN THE GRAVE, gotta wait a few minutes or your kids will spend Easter in tears, come back when Jesus has risen... about 10 minutes" Then gave the senior pastor heck and said he at least needs a text message warning next time.

Thank you for the advice, I don't really like to put videos to burn time, just because I feel for most of the kids Sunday school is the time to get disconnected from technology and internet too, it's not only teenagers or young adults the ones with that problem, also kids, even though is stressful as a teacher sometimes because we ran out of activities, I just think about how much they need a time to stop too, and only God provides what they don't have at home, that's why I like to get out of control with them too, I mean start talking, playing running playing tag inside of the class, etc. But it's true after a class they don't like to color !
My "classroom" was in the open air, under the church hall. (In all weather.) When we ran into OT, I had the children sing the old-fashioned children's Bible songs as loudly as possible. If the OT was excessive, then they could play chases and scream as much as they liked. At least this warmed them up, and got them ready for the Sunday nap that their parents were also going to need.
Our church has an awesome children’s ministry. This year our church hosted a VBS that had over 400 kids attended. Many are neighborhood kids. We just built a nice playground with a large outdoor shelter when homeschooling or pre school moms can gather and have outdoor MOPS meetings.
This is excellent. More skits about lukewarm Christians...all for the Glory of God.

Me too! My kiddos are never just a number (which is used for emergencies to flash on the screen btw, for those that may not know), we take the time to connect with each child. Our kids ministry isn't perfect, but we love or littles.
If it wasn’t for the wonderful lady that was my childrens church leader I would not be who I am today! She taught me to pray and she loved me.

I taught youth group for seven years and the common problem I had and other youth workers I taught to had was when the pastor finished their sermon early although their were occasional days when the pastor went over and it always happened to be when the kids were hyper.
