    Most of these rules are fueled by the NFL's greed, but jewelry ... I've played several different sportsover my lifetime and have never seen a single one that allowed watches, rings, earrings, necklaces, any kind of jewelry at all. I do believe that a large part of this comes down to limiting player empowerment. By not allowing for individuality in their gear, the players become much less distringuishable from their peers and it become harder for them to stand out, making them seem more interchangeable and less valuable as individual contributors in the scope of team success. This leads to less bargaining power and leverage in contract negotations over time.

So again, if a large strand of hair or dread gets caught in between another player's mask and helmet, and if it occurs when one or both are moving at high speed, one or both may be subjected to the same type of force that is experienced by people who are being dropped through the floor of a scaffold, with one end of a rope around the neck, and the other end tied to a gallows pole.

      @@LossLeadas Nobody will see it, its a cultural thing for many people as well. There is no increased injury risk so there shouldn't be an issue with it, the fact that a bunch of old white billionaires can decide what some guy wears when playing a sport is ridiculous, that should only be the privilege of the researchers who try to increase the safety of the game.

    I don't care what color cleats a player wears. It doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game. However, think of the word "uniform", and it's definition. Many people must follow rules concerning dress at work. Players are paid a lot of money to play a game. They don't like not being able to do whatever they want. How important is this really? It all seems petty and silly to me.

      It is mainly about branding and image, which can be worth a lot of money. Like how top NBA players can earn more money though ads and brands the own/ have a stake in. The NFL doing this rules are half about safety and half making players more dependent on the NFL for income and make them more docile.

    • @rustleup-tf2jt
      @rustleup-tf2jt Před rokem +3

      Exactly, players want money and attention, but they have to realize they are on The NFLs stage and the players are puppets, and for one they need to be more professional about the term uniform...

    The players could argue all they want but I'm all for the restrictions. Give every player leeway and the field would look like a carnival. That's why it's called U-N-I-F-O-R-M. It gives a feeling of order and respect.
