  • How do dreams intrude upon our Psyche, our roles in others' lives, and our societal identities?
"Dream Scenario" is a thought-provoking new film that explores the uncanny power of the collective unconscious to shape culture and be shaped by it. In the movie, Nicholas Cage's character Paul mysteriously starts appearing in others' dreams across the globe. He grapples with the fear of being randomly celebrated by the collective and later demonized. Kate Berlant's role in the film and insights into Jungian analysis and dream interpretation launch our conversation into the growing presence of Jung's insights in art and film. We explore the effect of instant and unwarranted celebrity through social media and the power of archetypal roles to change the actor and activate the collective. Kate reveals her personal connection to analytical psychology and the path her inner work has taken her.
Prepare to discover… who explores the depths of dreams and societal perceptions through the lens of cinema, when a film and its thematic discussions intersect with contemporary Jungian perspectives; how art, personal experiences, and the unconscious contribute to our understanding of identity and celebrity; what insights into the nature of dreams, fame, and the Self can be gleaned from the synthesis of film narrative and psychoanalytical insights; where the boundaries between personal identity and public persona blur; whether dreams serve merely as reflections of our Psyche or as vehicles for collective forces; which Jungian concepts illuminate the complex interplay between our inner lives and persona; why the exploration of dreams, both literal and metaphorical, is crucial to understanding our roles in the world and the narratives we construct about ourselves and others…and so much more.

When you do the phone episode will you please consider including the aspects of the phone that are the most addictive? (Social Media) - or perhaps that will need to be a separate episode. I notice when I spend too much time on social media, looking at the lives of others, which always seems magical, perfect, and beautiful, then when I turn off my phone and enter the real world, I notice how it all feels so much less magical, perfect and less beautiful and then I'm called back into the world of Social media to satisfy my mind and close the gap again between that which is expected and desired and that which actually IS present in my reality. Thank you all! Love the show!

This is great. I had a repetitive dream, not so good, when I was a child. I would like to submit. How do I do that?

I had a terrible dream recently, my parents owed people money and yet they were cheerfully unaware of it. There was a queue of people outside my house, all determined to get their money from me. I knew i could "settle their debts" but it would leave me with nothing. The dream makes sense to me a my mum doesnt speak to me. 4 years of cold shoulder now.

Who actually has dreams they remember or that mean anything? I only remember fragments and they're all bad. The few i can remember enough to make any sense of are like car wrecks, getting fired etc. no, i can't afford therapy lol.

Starting a dream journal can help kick start memory. But you have to do it as much as possible and stick to it. Doing it right after you wake up is the best way. Do not get up out of bed and walk around before you write. You will remember smaller details more and more. But sometimes those big bigger details are enough to know a basic direction your subconscious is trying to show you.🥰✌️

(I'm one of these people, :) I have very vivid dreams and I often remember everything in great detail)
I don't know if this helps, but you could simply do other things that open the door to the subconscious in very gentle ways, like making art (I love collaging for that), intuitive movement, or Shaman travel. Which is very similar to dreaming but in a more waking state… these are just a few examples. From my experience, all that is needed is to sincerely ask for your questions to be answered and the doors to open. Sometimes, our guidance shows up in dreams, and sometimes it finds other mediums.

I wonder what this says about my psyche---I completely disliked the movie- I thought it was awful! The idea was interesting and my dream group and I all went to see it together. I do not like Nicholas Cage as an actor so I think that obviously played a huge part and almost didn't go because he was the main character. But 50% of us liked/50% disliked. I describe it as "one of the worst films I've ever seen😅. Hmm...

My teacher had pit bulls , he loved his furry friends , there is a Jewish tradition that talks about Dogs at the gates of heaven that would not permit Jews to enter if they had eaten Un kosher food and would say you cannot enter for you ate our portion . He would often tell me how he got into trouble with his own rabbis once when he argued for animals having souls because they are mentioned as being at the gates of heaven 😂
