  • Join me as I experiment with the new GoPro video option for Hyperview during my paramotor flight. The Hyperview digital lens condenses the 8:7 aspect ratio to 16:9 and takes advantage of the new sensor in the GoPro 11. I attempt to capture the entire paramotor wing in the field of view. But there are some pros and some cons. Let me know what you think.

I like seeing the multiple angles you provide. Seems maybe a bit of a hassle prepping multiple cameras but I do like the result.

That's pretty cool I wasn't aware of that feature on the camera. I'm going to have to test that out! Thanks for sharing buddy

I love it ! I guess that means I have to upgrade to the 11, to get that view.
    Good stuff, Ben !

Nice, I think the weirdness of how the wing looks like is the slight fisheye and that you have the camera off center.
    Always enjoy your videos

Lotta cams, time to film something exciting! One of these days I'll beat my gopro up enough I'll be willing to drag it across the ground. Prolly not this year. Thanks for the vid, looks like youre having fun. Watch out for that excesive fisheye look, some of us get a little nauseated easily. Maybe just snag a gopro 360 and drag it around? Youll get a REALLY wide view with that. I use PowerDirector for edits. Its gopro friendly. You can get some of the fisheye out, but of course you're gna be cropping a little, negating the width when you do.

excellent video. so envy of the area you can fly. everything here is full of stuff where i am. cant find a grass field bigger than a 3 car parking lot. about the offset. making the line bit longer so it cant hit the prop and tilt the cam slightly up will do the trick.

I have the GoPro 7 Silver on my chase cam and always attach it as center on the as possible, to keep it from smacking the prop I just make sure I have a good run out after landing.

The beautiful thing about lens distortion is that it can be corrected with software. There should even be a setting in your GoPro for “Linear FOV” that will do this in real-time. However, if you do that you lose the original fisheye recording. If you’ve got editing software for your videos it might be best to import the original distorted video and correct the lens distortion there.

Ok, I have never really experimented with that before. I’ll take a look.

Nice. Yet, I see an example of what they use for helmet cam for NASCAR tv broadcast, and it is literally thumbnail size. It is incredible but then what do you have to carry to receive the signal. It probably cost more than a PAP.

Awesome info! Looks like it’s a toss-up between getting a wider shot with distortion or a more narrow shot without. I wonder if they have anything in the GoPro app that adjusts for this. Thanks for another great video!

Yeah, I need to do a little more research to see if I can edit that distortion in post production as one of the other commentators noted.
