Man-Thing - Caravan of Garbage

- Recently the MCU saw the first live action appearance of Man-Thing in the Halloween special Werewolf By Night. Sorry I just forgot right now, there was a Marvel adaptation of Man-Thing that dates back to 2005 produced by Avi Arad who's producing credits include Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Hulk, Blade and even Iron Man. Filmed entirely in Australian with a next to nothing budget it certainly is an odd duck of a film that was quickly swept under the rug. I will never forget though. And now you cannot either. Thanks for watching!

#WerewolfByNight #Marvel #MCU - Zábava
There’s no way the Rodney supercut has only been in our lives for 4 months
No it was always a part of our lives. I just know it
And now it's gone :(
Is this video the origin of Rodney? I thought I saw him in the opening clips. I am at time of typing this only 3:30 in though.
Why dose blue harvest get to stay, but green trivia get to go the away of the dodo 😢
@@Hotrodimusprime both are in limbo until they feel like doing it again
17:54
A legend is born
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Came back to this video just for that 🤣
@@RayofVibez same!
RODNEY!
RODNEY
I don't know how the Blue Harvest thing keeps managing to catch me off guard.
It’s the greatest running gag of all time. Part of the reason being the confused people in the comments who don’t get it😭😭😭
Just like how the original Star Wars (which was named Blue Harvest during its filming) caught everyone off guard
Right 😂
@@heelmoxley365 It is to my great shame that I unironically called them out on it in a video some months back, until I watched some more videos and realised they got me. Bloody genius.
@@captainunderpants200 we've all been there. There is a rich caravan of garbage lore that is used to troll new viewers. This one includes the origin of the legendary "rodney supercut"
The lengths James goes through to get that Blue Harvest bit is pretty surprising and we love that dedication. The joke's okay, but doubling down on that bit truly makes it feel personal with their videos.
It's the new West World
@@EasyCure0 nah nothing’s beating west world atm
Imagine the foresight, going to a movie set 17 years ago and going "ya know, that blue harvest (which is what I am calling our possibly toxic algae growth that is killing our set) sure is everywhere. Also did you know that the shooting title of Star Wars was also blue harvest? Funny ol' world innit!"
What's wild is the name Blue Harvest wasn't even for the original Star Wars but for Return of the Jedi
@@user-zh4vo1kw1z 😂
I love that James' hatred for Sydney runs so deep that he can barely bring himself to admit that the city isn't entirely swampland.
I'm still FULLY behind the Blue Harvest joke. It's still making me chuckle, especially how James tries to work it in
This one was completely unexpected and beautiful
I think the longer it goes on the funnier I'll find it.
It's been going on so long I forget when it started at this point
Still going strong lol
The funniest part is how he's wrong about which star wars movie it was used for
The video opening with a full entire minute being them just slagging off Australian actors not being able to do a convincing American accent without any other context is just amazing
Mate it goes on for a minute and a half 🤣🤣🤣
But actually Marvel Studios is allowing to show boobs.
Do Auzzies ever try doing "American" accents by going for Boston? Might be less of a gulf to bridge. We stress words the same ways, just with different sounds.
oh it's beautiful
They need to do an entire video of Aussie and Kiwi actors pretending to be Americans and just compare whos better. Rose McIver, Anthony Starr, Toni Collette, The Hemsworths, Rose Byrne, etc should all be on it
Kudos to both Ben and Laurence for the delightful edit.
Are you happy now James.
I certainly am
@@laurencemp4 you forgot the hint to next week's video
You’re only allowed to thank Ben on this channel
@@burner9703 😔
James laughing trying to get out his blue harvest joke really got me man 😂
Out of curiosity, my dad and I wanted to watch through every non-MCU/Fox Marvel movie. I remember actually being excited as a kid about Man-Thing, because he was one of the most interesting Marvel characters to me. I cannot describe the whiplash I experienced as a kid when that opening scene with the couple played, and then again when Man-Thing was barely in the movie. So glad he got a second chance in live action with Werewolf by Night
Going in watching it blind. It's really quite surprising.
Fun fact. To my knowledge, the same actor who played Man Thing in this movie got to play him again in WBN. So it wasn't just the character that got a second chance.
I thought that was really interesting if true, so I had to look it up, but sadly it's not. The original Man-Thing was professional wrestler Conan Stevens, but the MCU iteration is Carey Jones, with some additional voice work by Jeffrey Ford
@@nolanhartley8265 Oh really? That’s a shame. Guess I was wrong
The Man-Thing actually looks incredible
Yeah especially given the tiny budget, it looks fantastic. I mean it doesn't not look like the man thing. There's movies with far bigger budgets that look way worse.
The design looks pretty good, too close Swamp-thing but it looks good
It's a great design, it's just not a good Man-Thing design
@@varicosevisage4794 Exactly. It's a really good design. But it isn't Man-Thing. It isn't even Swamp Thing. Or The Heap...
That suit deserved to be in a better movie.
I love how these guys can do 20+ minutes on a movie I’ve never heard of and it’ll be great.
Legitimately the best "Blue Harvest" bit to date
Got through the whole video without a single mention of "Giant Sized Man-Thing"? I'm impressed!
This is where the guy that shouts Rodney started
Garth Marenghi’s dark place is easily one of the best and funniest shows I’ve ever seen, and it’s all on CZcams!
*”Blood. Blood. Blood. And bits of sick…”*
"Not my fault, monkey bastard hands"!
Have not seen the movie, but from these clips the practical Man-Thing effects look incredible, honestly
They really do look great! Not a lot of movement, so it would be tricky to do that today, but for what they did in Man-Thing it works really well.
The eyes were cool
tbh all the practical effect sand props look amazing from what I can gather, hope the production team were at least proud of that
I’m so glad you created the Rodney supercut for Green Trivia. Never get tired of it
I unapologetically LOVE this movie. Love how the movie just keeps getting greener.
Helpful for all the Green Trivia
turning green.
Same
Now Wayne has left us, and he no longer seeks Rodney every week 😢
Yes, guy shouting Rodney before every Green Trivia is what the fans want.
That Blue Harvest fact is amazing! I'm gonna tell it to all my friends and spread it all across my social media feeds without checking any further sources!
I originally skipped this one, but came back to see the origin of the Rodney supercut.
I've not missed a carvan of garbage in months and yet James never ceases to get me with the blue harvest bit...well done mate
*’Blue Harvest’* has been going almost just as long as *’Green Trivia’* . To be precise ever since the Green Lantern Caravan of Garbage video approximately 6 months ago and the Star Wars ones…..Just in case anyone wanted to know the origin… I love you guys… and Ben and Lawerence and Collins for the edits.
Yup, the Green Lantern CoG was the finale of the DC graveyard series which they did after tricking everyone with Twilight, then they went straight onto the Star Wars CoGs where James started Blue Harvest
That rodney supercut killed me 😂
Its wild to me that in the past few years we’ve gotten both a live action Man-Thing and Swamp-Thing and I think they were both pretty good adaptations
Right!
Criminal that the Swamp Thing series was cancelled, when I got around to watching it I was shocked at how good it is
I spilled hot coffee all over myself due to laughing so hard at the “Rodney” super-cut. Whoever made it, fantastic work.
That supercut always gets me. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
One of my favorite things is Mason's flat "what" at Mort the Dead Teenager.
Thank you for not making me feel like the only freak on earth who has watched every single comic book movie including this one.
and thank you aswell.
Less we forget Howard the Duck.
@@mrorange3216 Wait until you see the 1979 captain america.
We all know the Blue Harvest joke is coming but you're getting better and better at disguising the set up and this time I actually chuckled because you completely caught me off guard
Watching this after "Werewolf by Night"!
Didn't know there was a "Man-Thing" movie AT ALL
I remember discovering this in a pile of discounted DVD’s at blockbuster when I was 10. I was very excited to find a marvel movie I had never heard of.
...and I got to see boobs.
This movie was in my dad's DVD collection when I was little, and I can't express the fear this put in me.
This comment made my day
Finally, the origins of Rodney
Ted Sallis is mentioned but only in passing. In the comics he does often attack indescribably reacting to peoples emotions. Finally , as you mentioned at the end the comic version on Man-thing debuted a few months before Swamp-thing but the creators of each were friends so were probably discussing a swamp monster character and both did there own thing
And he was described as a Bad person! 😠
More than that, they were rooming together when they were working them.
@@cupguin indeed they were
It’s kinda funny that Swamp-Thing is technically the rip-off, but is ultimately the better character
@@dajokahbaby1506 Man-Thing looks cooler.
The Rodney part was hilarious and the kills & Man-Thing looks pretty good for what it is also it's cool that Man-Thing & Swamp Thing both look great in up to date TV shows
I always love that old comic cover that was advertising that was a large issue, but the format they chose to show that was the cover prominently displaying "GIANT SIZE - MAN-THING"
I gotta say this was one of my favourite caravan of garbage episodes
That was hands down the most unexpected blue harvest drop if I've ever heard it on this channel
Sometimes, I come back to this video for that guy shouting Rodney. Gone too soon. Forever in our hearts.
Rodney: Origins
That was the smoothest inclusion of the "Blue Harvest" fact in any Green Trivia segment I have heard.
The day the Blue Harvest joke dies will be a monumental moment in the history of this series
Green Trivia And A Supercut Of The Guy Saying "Rodney" has to be the new thing now.
That shotgun thing at 11:30 is the most absurdly stupid thing in any movie I’ve ever seen that’s fucking insane that made it in.
Love that Mason compared this Man-Thing movie, and the Swamp Thing movie in an old CoG, to Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. Even adaptations of these characters can't help but be almost identical.
I don't know if I'm the only one pointing this out, but there are shots of the swamp, and it's not forced and you can miss it if you aren't paying close attention, but you can pretty much make out the Man-Thing in every shot where its just got the swamp in frame. He's always somewhere in there, almost like a creepy Where's Wally
*Man-thing
It just looks like Swamp-Thing, but due to international copyright law, its not
Listened
/Watched the whole back catalogue to find the origin to the Rodney super cut joke 😂
I was in Australia for a while last year from Scotland UK. Bendigo I was in and an Australia guy I was in the company of one day showed me a steak pie and he said something like " What you think of that mate eh? A meat pie " . He thought it would impress me, like a can you believe we in Australia put meat in pies kind of thing. He either didn't realise that this was a British thing or perhaps because of my Scottish accent he thought I was from somewhere else. He was so proud to introduce me to the famous Australian dish that I didn't have the heart to explain to him that I not only was aware of it but that I was pretty sure this came to Australia with the British.
The editing for this series really is the MVP, I was dying at the "eagle with a gun" bit.
That eagle with arms and guns was funnier than it should be…great job
Another interesting thing about the Man-Thing/Swamp Thing similarities was that Len Wein (Swamp Thing’s creator) and Gerry Conway (Man-Thing’s co-creator) were roomates at the time these characters were being created. Apparently Conway tried to talk Wein out of Swamp Thing’s origin, but Len “didn’t see the similarities”.
So maybe it was some kind of subconscious exchange of ideas? Either way it’s really weird
I have finally found where the Rodney supercut comes from!
I'm a year late to the party
The United Emirates gag slayed me. I am slain.
Amazing to finally see the origin of the Rodney super cut
I like the Highlander reference, could you please do a whole one about a Highlander movie. Thank you!
It’s always fun to see when Green trivia transitions into Blue harvest. I can’t tell if the set genuinely wasnt built properly for the Australian weather or it’s just a setup for the Blue harvest Joke
*travels back in time from 2024: "RODNEY!!!!!"
I could listen to Maso say "Swamp" all day
Swomp
I vaguely remember stumbling across this movie on some streaming service or another, and then falling asleep watching it before the Man Thing ever showed up on screen.
You guys should do the Scream movies! I would love your commentary and green trivia on those :D Keep up the good work!
The editing and misdirects are so good. I'd watch these guys watch paint dry and have a commentary on it....
Loving the Garth Merenghi's Darkplace reference. Such an underrated show!!!
You guys broke me. I can’t hear the name Rodney without hearing this supercut
Might be the best Blue Harvest yet
snuck right up on me I thought he had a real swamp fact for us
That hint for the next week! I'm so hyped!
Ik right, I can't wait!
Can't believe they're doing !
So excited for !
I hope green trivia and blue harvest never end.
This episode started the best 9 months of Caravan of Garbage. RIP RODNEY, RODNEY, RODNEY, RODNEY, RODNEY, RODNEY, RODNEY, RODNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY
No one is as dedicated to inscrutable, esoteric in-jokes as James and Mason and for that I commend them
Legend says the car is still burning.
Also, I never knew where the Rodney bit came from but now I do.
I love the Green Trivia/ Blue Harvest joke
Then super cut of "Rodney " is perfect so it must stay forever on the green trivia part. Good work Ben and Lawrence 😂
Is this the origin of the Rodney super cut??
every caravan i think about the people that missed the batman trilogy
That awesome Rodney super-cut convinced me to watch this move! 👍
2:51 Disney could score serious comedy points if they can throw together “Mort the Dead Teenager” in time for next Halloween. 😆
I finally found the original Rodney!!
Omg finally I found the Rodney supercut origin!!!!!! My day is made!!!
The hint towards next week's episode really got me intrigued.
I blame you both personally for not introducing me to Danger 5 earlier in life.
The memes and edit are wicked on point. Good on ya!
21:26 "ᴿᴼᴰ"
Today's Blue Harvest has me in tears!!!! Was not expecting it at all 😂😂
the man-thing effects actually look decent... pretty good for a small budget movie from 2005
Dog Soldiers has the best kitchen fight of all time, i love when the guy says "i hope i give you the shits" so epic
Dog Soldiers is so good. The only vaguely military propaganda-y movie I’ll stomach nowadays. Love it.
This is, by far, my favourite and most memorable Blue Harvest bit XD This is my fifth or sixth viewing, and it's the first time I remembered the bit, and wasn't suckered in by it XD
There are two ways green trivia goes on from here:
Either this is the start of Mason slowly forcing it to be something else
Or (more likely, knowing James)
Ben & Lawrence better keep that Rodney montage on file
The "They don't." by Mason at the very end of the video caught me off guard and was so funny to me for some reason.
Ah, the guy shouting "Rodney!". Sleep well, sweet prince.
that super cut! *chef's kiss* please bring back screaming for Rodney!
Man Thing needs more MCU appearances, I honestly loved what they included in Werewolf By Night... Great stuff 😅
Gotta love playing “How quickly can I work out if this ramble is actually a Blue Harvest segue”.
I watched this on Sci fi back in 2010 late at night on a school night. It was forgettable, but the monster effects were great.
19:42
I love how James couldn’t get through it😂😂😂😂
RIP rodney supercut
“Here’s a hint toward next week.”
…
Is this the end of Caravan of Garbage?
I'd love to see a Caravan of Garbage for:
1. Indiana Jones franchise
2. Pirates of the Caribbean frinchise
3. Batman Mask of the Phantasm
4. Ghost Rider 1 and 2
5. Hellboy 1, 2 and reboot
Trivia: a lot of the extrimis soldiers in IM3 are named after characters in this movie
Thats good trivia
The Blue Harvest bit today actually destroyed me, so good
