    I have 2 lead acid 10 ah total and have a lithium RV battery 100 ah. All are 12.8 v. The lead acid batteries are soldered in. If I took them out and replace with a single lithim battery would it work? Would I have to dissconect the spare/ loose cables or mask them with gaffa tape.

    My largest concern is burning out the controller. All my scooters appear to have a "Rhino" controllers, and on their website, they state that there is a pretty comprehensive battery management control setup.
    What are the chances that the larger Li-Ion charging amperage (10 Amps vs 6 Amps) will not damage the controller - the charge port on my scooter does not go directly to the batteries, but to the controller, then to the batteries.
    Current lead-acid charger is a 6 Amp. Smallest 12V charger for a 135Ah LFP battery (for eg) is 10 Amp. I'd like to be able to run a 20 Amp charger, really get them charged as fast as possible.
    Living in a small city right next to a large city, it would be nice to at least double my range. 75km is amazing (from comment down below), but if I could get 40 or 50km, I would be a happy man.
    By my reckoning, a replacement 135 Ah LFP or Li-Ion battery would just about double my current range. That is because the Li-Ion battery can be drawn down to a much lower remaining voltage before dropping off - somewhere around 20%. That gives 80% of the battery amperage going directly towards the load. A Lead-Acid battery should only be drawn down to about 50%, because apparently any more may damage the battery. So that gives me just 50% usable amperage. Some batteries may tap out at 60%. Think of a Wal-mart battery. Experience has led me to believe they tap out at about 80% (voltage drop) LOL. Never again.
    What size charger is included in your kit?
    What size battery do you have in a Class 24 battery size. I've seen as high as 280Ah Li-Ion batteries. I could go forever with a pair of those!!! (If I win the lottery!)
    You don't happen to have a couple 300Ah batteries laying around to replace my 75Ah ones? LOL.

    The EcoWorthy 12 volt 30 ah Lithium batteries appear to be same size as the two 18ah SLA batteries I use in my Pride Elite Traveler scooter. Amazon is selling a 2 pack plus balancer for $125. This looks like a good deal for use in my scooter. Would also need a lithium charger with scooter connector and a lithium voltmeter. Thoughts?

      You have to keep in mind the Airlines restrictions on maximum battery size for a carry-on mobility scooter - cannot exceed a certain wattage. (v x a) but I think the new setup is still below the Airline Industry max limit. 500 or 600 watts, I cannot remember. I had to buy a second, smaller capacity battery for my folding scooter as my regular battery was twice the allowable limit, but the 2nd one was spot on their max, and I took it to Europe for a cruise! I didn't need range, just the ability to get around on a tour once in a while.

      Hi Manfred, thanks for reaching out. Yes as you are already using 200 amps batteries, you should be able to switch to 12V 200Ah lithium batteries. For the charger, we recommend getting a corresponding lithium battery charger as they can have different voltages/amps and offer much faster charging speeds than lead acid.

      Look at your amp hours, and you'll need the same numbers or greater. 48v can be achieved with one lithium battery, two 24s, or 4 12s. The lifepo4 is safe, and get the right charger. Your battery charge gauge meter will also need recalibration (resistor) or replacement for the 52v range.

    I think the choice of sealed lead acid is a better choice for an implement that will be charging in a home or hotel or garage, and that runs through puddles where the battery compartment could see water ingress, or debris penetration.
    Lithium ion batteries are showing a marked propensity of igniting violently after water ingress to the compartment, or if punctured or damaged. With that big an unknown I try to limit the number of Li-ion batteries inside my home, as I would be unable to get my elderly disabled parents out in a timely fashion.

    • @aegisbattery
      @aegisbattery  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi califonigirl, definitely can understand the concern. Cheaper lithium batteries can definitely issues, especially when not properly sealed or do not have quality BMS to properly detect short circuits or temperature issues.
      Our recommended mobility kits come only LFP (LiFePO4) batteries and are enclosed in ABS IP65 rated casing. LFP is much safer chemistry than most other lithium-ion batteries being able to withstand punctures without igniting.
      However, no current battery is completely inert. Even lead acid has toxic gas build up that can ignite when charging or damaged.
      Ultimately choice is up to you. Good lithium batteries are more expensive than lead acid, but do offer quite a bit of longevity, power, and safety now.
      Again, thanks for brining this up, we get this question quite bit.

    Lithium batteries die out at 24 volts 80%, and the LeadAcid scooter guage is for 24volt max; meaning your guage wont be accurate or dependable. Adding a resistor to the old charge gauge will likely work, or a switched resistor for both Lead Acid or Lithium. There's also a round 30mm lithium guage listed on aliexpress which is merely a volt meter; but will work once you learn to keep it charged above 80% (20% run range). Also, the new gogo lithium scooter's guage may be an easy swap-out... Can't make up my mind on which way to go; a, b, or c?

    • @anthonyrstrawbridge
      @anthonyrstrawbridge Před 17 dny

      I understand 😊. Probably a better solution is to utilize a proven method of monitoring the lithium cells and pack condition. There is much more criteria than the Voltage regardless of how it is displayed. The flat voltage curve of a lithium cell pack doesn't tell much in regards to capacity. Today's smart batteries are an option as are smart monitors combined with a shunt. Quite frankly, today's inexpensive smart batteries used with an android or apple device are as good as more expensive options 😊 Hope this helps.

You need to check with the manufacturer to make sure the amperage is not too high with lithium.
