I know you could likely cast a fly line with a willow branch Tim. Thanks for your review of a rod that I love, it’s great to know you like it as well. I also love my 15’ B&W.
I love this rod and for my 400gr is just perfect the commando and 12' to anchor better because if go 10' tip I tend to blow my anchor! Because I put lots of power and shoot far as my rivers are big. Good review Tim 👍 Best regards from Sweden 1/4 turn of the globe away 😁
Hi, Tim. Do you think each rod has their own character? I bought the OPST Micro Skagit rod,3wt and 4wt,use 150grain and 180grain SA Spey Lite Scandi for several months. You know, they are single handed style, double handed rods, so I tried to single spey with double haul, din't get an ideal distance ,the 3wt maybe 50 or 55ft when I was wading. Then I tried to use the double handed mode, not good too. Finally I tried the double handed mode snap T, so crazy and amazing! the 3wt rod cast 65ft even I was wading 1.5ft depth.Actually, I'm not good at Snap T cast,on the contrary, Single spey is my most commonly used cast and practiced for the longest time. I can single spey beautifully with a shorter single handed rod, instead of the OPST rods. So I think these rods maybe better at the skagit style casts, do you ever had a similar experience?
This is a great video for someone who is trying to understand the variables involved in setting up a two-hand rod. What is the approximate distance to the opposite bank?
@@LineSpeedJediTimRawlins Hey, I was out on the water recently practicing single hand skagit casting and I was able to make some decent casts after watching your videos. 👍
Question for you… is there a line similar to the OPST Commando smooth? Looking for one that doesn’t have as much stretch. By chance do you know what the core is made of as well?! Thanks.

its tough to say, have only cast the 8 weight and it did both well, but I agree totally, each rod has its own unique personality for sure!
Do you have one of the opst 3 wt micro skagit rods? I just want to see someone cast one like the 9"9. Have you got to cast one yet?

I like mine stretchy! Airflo Scout is great and if it’s anything like their Rage it shouldn’t stretch much… made from polyurethane not pvc
