I thought about this when I was in Austin Texas during the pandemic and I walked around the campus of a company called Oracle. They had built so many new buildings that were large and empty for the pandemic because everyone was working remotely. And yet two blocks away they were huge homeless encampments. It's just so in your face about the wealth disparity in this country. And the myth about hard work getting you someplace. It feels like what they tell to the masses to keep them being worker bees. I'm old and have worked on projects locally, our tiny little town built 20 tiny homes for homeless shelters and they have been very successful helping people find a place to land while they get back on their feet. But I don't have answers for the mental illness and substance abuse epidemics that are also feeding this problem. 💔
The younger generations who don't tolerate inhumane working conditions are actually giving me much hope.

    It Can happen to Anyone!!!
I am a single parent and almost lost my house over $8K.
My hone was Damaged In a storm and I had been approved for forbearance so that I can make repairs on my home Only to have almost lost it over the three months of mortgage that I couldn’t pay while I was making repairs.
    God is good.
I’m just sorry that it’s so easy to become homeless and destitute and this country.
I’m a veteran and fought for this countries’s freedom for 24 years and had absolutely no idea the world is so cruel to those Barely
    Surviving.
When you have Jesus, you have everything you need to start over. Never forget that.

Local big chain grocery stores used to give away food until the homeless started suing the store for giving them bad food. ( they were coached by local attorneys to ask for the refrigerated items particularly and keep them in the sun to expedite the rot) couple of homeless and their attorneys got payouts and store no longer supports homeless. The homeless that got the payouts quickly blew thru the money and were homeless again within months. Don’t ask me about the used condoms, cigarette butts and dirty needles in the church parking lot next to the homeless shelter. 🤷‍♀

If you come across this country’s border illegally you get free housing, room & board, cash stipends etc. But, as a citizen, if you work your entire life and pay Social Security and taxes, you can wind up homeless.

That's not true. My mother left us when I was a child and my father lost interest in us after she left (he remarried and said he only cared about his new wife and kids, not the 'old' kids). It's a sad fact that many people treat kids like puppies; once they're no longer cute, they don't want them any more.
I've spent my life living very frugally as I know I have no family to help if I develop a health problem and can't work. I could easily end up like this lady if I get sick or disabled.

Hi, May I share the most important news you will ever hear in life? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?

Personal accountably and personal responsibility. You need to go very far and look very hard and long to find someone who won't or can't accept personal accountability for their lot in life. I was also in a very, very hard place, but I adjusted on MORE than one occasion in my late thirties. These things get tiresome and insulting, and they actually do a disservice. They should stop. It's embarrassing and insulting and demoralizing to the person allowing themselves to be put in this position. Stop.
