It would be way cooler if Pottermore members could actually get the wand on their profile from Ollivander! If the wands matched the profiles, that would be prefect!
Yeah, but that would require them making more designed wands that they probably don't have space for. I haven't been to universal, but from what I know they sell character wands and wands based around your birthday aka calendar wands. The calendar wands are based around the Zodiac system, so you should get X wand depending on when you were born. It makes it easier for the park. However, there are specialty shops online that sell wood wands based around the wood wands of pottermore. : 3 In some cases cheaper too.
Haters can hate. When you're in there and the lights go and the wind blows in the shop, you get this moment of "Holy crap, magic is REAL" that is absolutely amazing. I went on my honeymoon 2 years ago and got chosen - none of the little kids wanted to do it! And I'll admit, it's absolutely brilliant marketing, because once a wand chooses you, you WANT it and you don't care how much it costs, LOL. Mine is a 13-inch birch with a unicorn hair core.
Just think about it, in reality, that's probably close to what the exchange rate would be. Besides, even in the Harry Potter universe, shit ain't free. It's probably crazy expensive as well.
I was chosen to be "chosen" by the wand and honestly, even though the wands are overpriced and some of the people aren't always in a good mood, It was without a doubt the most magical moment of my life. #HpLivesOn
lol oh gosh, this brings back memories. My sister, grandma & I went here the second or first year after it opened. I remember we bought robs. My sister as Gryffindor, & I as Slytherin. Me and her were standing at the FAR back near the wall, and the man was looking for a volunteer. I was kinda spacing out, since I didn't really care much for it, was more into the rides XD And he states "You in the back. The slytherin" Everyone turned to look in my dirrection. And what do I do? I turn and look at the wall. Than the man states "Don't look behind you. I'm talking to you." XD Lets just say I was so nervous because at the time I wasn't familiar with pronouncing the words, so I kept giggling and the man states "Your an odd slytherin." Haha it was like that the whole day. People even asked to take pictures with us [?] And even when we rode this one ride. The women in charge who makes sure your buckled in replies "Oh a slytherin. Make sure you watch this one." Everywhere I went. XD It was funny and embarrassing to say the least.
little reminder that if you dont get chosen you still walk into a room full of wands to pick from. So its not a total loss, and half of ollivanders is the wand buying and the other half is the show.
Yes, whether you got chosen or not, after the show, guests are allowed into the gift shop to purchase thier own wand. If the person chosen does not like thier wand, they may select another one of their choosing from the store. All wands are $30 and come in authentic Ollivanders box.
I went there last summer. It was absolutely incredible, except for the fact that the lines were HUGE. It took a good two hours to get into the wand shop, and 'Olivander' chose the person standing right next to me! D:
I never get sick of these Ollivander's Wand Shop videos! I always lol at the awkward moment when the wand person stares at the customer for a second before the music plays! XD
I went in December and my 1 goal was to get picked at Ollivanders. We waited 5 minutes in line (early access) and I didn't get picked because the people in front of us had arranged it so they would. So we waited again and I got picked and it was amazing. The guy that did it for us seemed a lot "better". He was more in character and the whole thing felt more "magical". But yeah, if you're a HP fan, wait in line because IT'S SO WORTH IT!
I got to have my 'wand moment' It is a moment to remember! Had to point at the ladder and cast 'Accio' and point at some wand boxes and say, 'Wingardium Leviosa'. It was a LOT of fun! An experience every fan should have!
Beautifully magical idea, and amazing for the person who actually gets to have the wand choose them. But such a shame for the people at the back who wait for ages to watch something that they'd be better off watching here on CZcams (without having to queue for). They should have multiple smaller chambers and only take in a single family as a group rather than boat loads of people together so that everyone who wants have a go can do so.
i went to hogsmeade at christmas time, the line for ollivanders was 2 hours, and after waiting in line for over an hour for everything else (besides honeydukes and the dragon challenge, that only had a 5 minute wait) i did not have time to go into this, and i was told it was a 5-6 minute wand presentation.. instead you can buy a wand from several places in the land, but with no effects, you can choose your own wand.
A great idea for Universal to incorporate into the park would be the wand technology used in Great Wolf Lodge. I feel that would be a great addition to the wands!
nice, looks like they are going with the "Celtic Tree Calendar system", which is why she got the wand made of "alder" wood since she said she was born April 11 ( hehehe yea i'm being nerdy, but o well, thought it might interest a few peps).
By this time, especially including all of the trauma he went through due to Voldemort's trying to force him to give up the position of the Elder Wand, and then being locked in the Malfoy's mansion for lord knows how long, he would be dead. It is unfortunate, but true. And of course, the shop would be taken over by whichever lad was dubbed worthy. (This man is a wonderful actor. Give him some credit.)
Oh god, they must make money hand-over-fist for a bunch of lacquered scrap-wood. I'm glad to see that hocking marked-up dowels hasn't killed the actor's spirit who has to do his shop-keeper bit a hundred times a day.
@TenorChops143 Yeah in the backish bit of Dervish and Banges where all the owls are there's a shelf full of character wands (where you'd find Voldemort's) and the other shelves where you find the other wands.
this is my favorite part so far. it definitely looks like tons of fun and i can't wait to buy my wand. does anyone know if they have the lord voldemort wand?
@sandwichboy7 Yeah, and the park people know that, too. If memory serves, someone at Universal said it was meant to be a second shop in Hogsmeade and only a branch of the origingal Diagon Alley shop.
@toddbonanno Actually, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Universal is allowing the general public ticket holders into the park on a random, periodic basis -- even if you don't have the vacation package booked.
@toddbonanno The point is: you cannot expect the hotel staff to guarantee you access to another business' event.. they don't work for that business. The only people at the hotel that would "guarantee" me I could go, or even tell me about it? The UO employees that work at the ticket sales booth in the lobby.
This man have the coolest job in the WORLD!!
It would be way cooler if Pottermore members could actually get the wand on their profile from Ollivander! If the wands matched the profiles, that would be prefect!
Ben Lam if you are on Hogwarts extreme they pair you with a wand it's really cool
Ben Lam mine is Rowan Wood with a phoenix feather core,9 3/4" and quite bendy flexible
Yeah, but that would require them making more designed wands that they probably don't have space for. I haven't been to universal, but from what I know they sell character wands and wands based around your birthday aka calendar wands. Yah
I'm a bit saddened that there's no sycamore wands from what I can hear of it; that's my wand wood from Pottermore.
Haters can hate. When you're in there and the lights go and the wind blows in the shop, you get this moment of "Holy crap, magic is REAL" that is absolutely amazing. *wand chooses you
*gets taken into next room by assistant
"That will be $47.99 for the wand."
+blackbriar246 That's the exchange rate from Galleons to American Dollars.
+Hannah 😂😂
How full money this is in €
Just think about it, in reality, that's probably close to what the exchange rate would be. Besides, even in the Harry Potter universe, shit ain't free. It's probably crazy expensive as well.
blackbriar246 haha they charge the "chosen one" more money 😂😂😂
I was chosen to be "chosen" by the wand and honestly, even though the wands are overpriced and some of the people aren't always in a good mood, It was without a doubt the most magical moment of my life. #HpLivesOn

WOW!!! That's cool. XD
I got picked for this last year! Birch, Unicorn hair, supple, 16 1/2 inches. It was amazing. I smiled like an idiot the whole time.
Megan Zewe What are the wands made of? Are they wood or some hard plastic?
+Dominic Uccelli I'm actually not sure. On the side of the box it says "birch wood" but it has a very smooth touch to it, somewhat similar to plastic.
If I had to guess then it's probably some form of synthetic and the "birch wood" is just for show and authenticity.
Megan Zewe awesome! I went yesterday but also didn't pay much attention to wands :/ How much did it cost?
Jorian Barmentloo Hmmm between $30 and $50. I can't exactly remember.
I love all the cameras taking pictures with clicks and flashes
This guy is probably my favorite person to play the wand keeper.
little reminder that if you dont get chosen you still walk into a room full of wands to pick from. So its not a total loss, and half of ollivanders is the wand buying and the other half is the show.
The Girl who's trying the different wands is my friend and I'm very proud of her ! She's very lovely... Love you Honey ♥
The presentation is cool but what sucks is that he only selects one person. Then kicks everyone else out
I don't care about that, I only want to get the elder wand from the second room
*updates bucket list*
Love your profile pic. :)

going to get mine in friday !!!!
I swear this was my Dream since I was a kid. I never knew that a amusement park like that existed until recently haha
It didn't open until recently
i wish i could get one of this wand.. it will be so wonderful. i'm obsessed with it
I went there last summer. It was absolutely incredible, except for the fact that the lines were HUGE. It took a good two hours to get into the wand shop, and 'Olivander' chose the person standing right next to me! D:
I so want to work there.
Same
when that music starts i get goosebumps
Going there tomorrow!!!!! See you there ollivander!
wow I can't believe the kind of experience they're providing there, its great!
they did good at making all of this, I wish I can go and choose the right wand for me, this place is brilliant.
When I went I had Mr. Ollivander help the wand choose me, and it was pretty cool if you ask me!
I'm going there for thanksgiving, I can't wait :D
I seriously HAVE to go there! I need a wand and I'm almost in my second year!
how do you learn charms defense against dark arts and more if you have no wand?? you must be out of luck... muggle studies and divination... sad....
I never get sick of these Ollivander's Wand Shop videos! I always lol at the awkward moment when the wand person stares at the customer for a second before the music plays! XD

im so glad i live so close
A great idea for Universal to incorporate into the park would be the wand technology used in Great Wolf Lodge. I feel that would be a great addition to the wands!
Ikr.
What is it about? I have no idea.
They actually started doing this! There's interactive areas in the parks now.
But...between us...Magi Quest is better.
best job ever
Thats amazing.
i cried..oh my rowling that was amazing
when I went I got chosen! It was magnificent!
omg, it's perfect! amazing ♥
nice, looks like they are going with the "Celtic Tree Calendar system", which is why she got the wand made of "alder" wood since she said she was born April 11 ( hehehe yea i'm being nerdy, but o well, thought it might interest a few peps).
The timing for the music was just perfect.... It gave me chills!!! :) I wish i could have that job, BUT I'm a girl... :(
I have the birthday around Draco. They have a chart for the birthdays when you go here and Draco has the wand for my month. Thought that was cool.
Im going there next month yaaaaaaaaaayyy!!!!!!!!!
You should be able to go to Gringotts and buy Galleons to purchase the wands with.
I like how she handed her a death eater wand
omg i want a wand so badly
i'am going there this year
@SHENAKU Thanks! You're helpful! Do you know if the moving staircases are apart of the Hogwarts tour?
I love how that guy is such a good actor!! (not sarcastic)
thanks
I went there, and once they shut the door it gets so dark, really cool place favorite part of my trip!
They are crazy!!! This looks so cool though!! Oh my goodness!!! Hahaha!! When the light goes on is so cool!! I would so buy wands over there!!
You could buy a character wand at the gift shop or any stands around IOA.
But if you want a unique wand, you'll have to wait.
I'm acctually going this October/November!!!!!!!!!!
That is so cool I must go
i went here today!!
Cayden Huddleston i wanna go there too :(
I wanna go there someday I love Harry Potter.
Oh god, they must make money hand-over-fist for a bunch of lacquered scrap-wood. I'm glad to see that hocking marked-up dowels hasn't killed the actor's spirit who has to do his shop-keeper bit a hundred times a day.
I want one.
I must go here.

Wow, very cool! Do you know how much wands are?
this is my favorite part so far. it definitely looks like tons of fun and i can't wait to buy my wand. does anyone know if they have the lord voldemort wand?

oh my i so want to get my wand that way
AHHH I CANT WAIT! HOW MUCH ARE THEY?
2:37. I ordered that wand yesterday, on the website! :D
@sandwichboy7 Yeah, and the park people know that, too. If memory serves, someone at Universal said it was meant to be a second shop in Hogsmeade and only a branch of the origingal Diagon Alley shop.
You know even if you hate the third wand he hands you youll like it after the light and wind effects when you go to grab it
Man, I really wanna go...
@thepunkparade yes he only picks one person, and you can buy all the wands in a shop right next to it
I might be going to the wizarding world of harry potter! I AM SO EXCITED :P
I want it.
EPIC!!!!!!!!!
@toddbonanno Actually, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Universal is allowing the general public ticket holders into the park on a random, periodic basis -- even if you don't have the vacation package booked.
Thats pretty cool
@Duffywarwick1 The wands start from $24.95 and go up to around $39.95. The more detailed collector wands however are much more expensive.
@dude249 I believe you can, since all the wands are available in the second room.
THIS IS BEST THING EVER.
AWWW! muggles are so cute... did i just say...? OVBLIVIATE!
@chiscrockerrockes those wands are styled like the ones those characters used in the movies, but you can also get a wand that chooses you.
@Mgdisney15 I believe it's supposed to be a second Ollivander's in Hogsmeade.
@toddbonanno The point is: you cannot expect the hotel staff to guarantee you access to another business' event.. they don't work for that business. The only people at the hotel that would "guarantee" me I could go, or even tell me about it? The UO employees that work at the ticket sales booth in the lobby.
