    -----------
StyleLikeU is led by mother-daughter duo Elisa Goodkind and Lily Mandelbaum, who are bound by the desire to uncover what’s underneath personal style. Through candid, docu-style interviews with empowered individuals, StyleLikeU is building a world where getting dressed each morning is an act of self-love.
    ------------
“Society rewards me the most for dressing as cisgendered heterosexual white male,” explains androgynous, gender-fluid model Rain Dove, as they shrewdly ranks each of their gender and sexuality shells in order of how safe they feels in public. Rain is an accidental model, who launched a successful career after being goaded by a friend to audition for a Calvin Klein runway show. After being sorted as “male” by the casting director and asked to walk topless with the rest of the guys, Rain did so with their characteristic daring, “boobs out.”
And while this ballsy move launched their career as both a both men’s and women’s wear model known for their fierce gender nonconformity, it was also a formative experience in terms of their own personal struggle with being shunned for who they are, as well as for fashion’s still nascent embrace of non-cisgender identities.
Despite the turbulence that Rain’s refusal of gender norms has sometimes wrought on their life-- growing up, kids referred to her as “Tranny Danny”-- their defiant independence, disarming charm, and unwavering sense of self outside of society’s norms has powered them personal journey to self acceptance.

I don't know why but she's lying about having been to Berkeley and having been a firefighter. She actually went to Berkeley City College, and in this article from NBC news: "Instead of firefighting, Dove worked as a wildfire prevention officer whose role never involved interacting with flames, according to Mark Wertheimer, the chief operating officer of Rocky Mountain Youth Corps in Colorado, where Dove previously claimed to have fought fires. Dove also admitted to never volunteering as a firefighter during last year’s deadly Camp Fire in Paradise, California, despite previously claiming on social media to have “signed up for Fire relief efforts on a saw team near Paradise." While Dove still maintains they volunteered in a cleanup capacity, the Paradise Fire Department, with whom Dove previously claimed to have volunteered, said it has no record of Dove volunteering there at all.

Like It's just not logic that I could think of her as a very pleasing male but as a not so pleasing female... When, all things considered, it is the same person... It is as I had this unconscious thoughts preventing me to like something, preventing me to go behind the labels... It is as, without realize it, I never liked things not because of my personal appreciation of them but rather because of what they were supposed to be like (socially) ...

People try to persuade me against it by getting me to dress and act "like a real woman". Although I often get mistaken as a boy or a lesbian stereotype and often just get called weird, I am comfortable and confident this way. Rain Dove (full name Rain Dove Dubilewski) disavows pronouns and asks her interlocutor to choose their own. This feels like a large responsibility; “Use she, he, it, one, they. You could call me mow mow and I honestly don’t care,” she says. “A pronoun is just a sound. All I’m listening for in that sound is positivity.” ref: www.theguardian.com/fashion/2018/sep/10/every-step-i-take-is-a-defiance-rain-dove-on-modelling-asia-argento-and-gender-capitalism

Thanks Rain for being the voice of reason hope you never lose it.

Betty Catroux (famous CHANEL model and BFF of Yves Saint Laurent) used to say that genitals are just God's way of accessorizing the human body. My understanding of scripture (book of Revelation in the Bible) is that the ultimate form and level of transcendence is a sexless state where the soul survives in a spiritual state, unencumbered by sex. Therefore dear friend, you are simply more emancipated and transcendent than most people on earth. May God bless you. All my love.
