    Me again, spent 12 months in Southern Cross on site on a gold mine - the road is diverted around it now. The superpit wasn't even thought of back then 1988/89 but later went nd had a look around - from the bottom - because we knew the Mining Superintendent. Great video, I used to drive from Perth to Leinster - way past Kalgoorlie looking after minesites. Big holes in the ground. Great video AP - keep them coming.

      that super pit was something!! I have seen a few open cut mines before but nothing that big soo close to a town, the cameras just don't do it justice with the size of the thing.... even looking at it, without the mining trucks as reference it doesn't seem that big.......... then you see the trucks and the digger and it still blows my mind!! Thanks for binge watching mate!!

    That's an amazing amount of money raised! That's awesome! Holy cow! That's a Grand Canyon Pit! And a big Tonka truck indeed!

      @andypandy.  Před 7 lety

      Yeah, was a great effort for everyone on the ride..... basically equates to about $1000 per person or there abouts. That pit is just WOW!!! I would love it if they did tours, would be a definite thing to go on.

    The first time I ever heard of the rabbit-proof fence was when the movie came out many years ago. I don't remember all of the movie but I do remember that I liked it. I never really knew much about the similarities of how the aboriginal peoples of Australia were treated much like the Native Americans in my country. And I didn't actually think that the fence still existed till this day. Thanks for showing this to us.

    • @andypandy.
      @andypandy.  Před 7 lety +1

      wow, I am shocked that the movie got released over there.... generally the art director movies in Australia just stay here..... awesome that you have seen it though!!! Yeah, I think most conquered races get treated the same........ disgracefully :-( I wish I stopped off at one of the places that still has the sign up for the fence..... and yep, the fence is still maintained to this day :-)

    Woo! And now he returns. I can't remember if I watched the whole trip out. A pub everywhere! Nice tv promo.

    • @andypandy.
      @andypandy.  Před 7 lety

      yeah, I wish I just kept going and camped on the side of the road somewhere, even all the trucks would have made less noise than all the people did :-( will be the last time I make that mistake!!

    That's a massive pit, Do you book ahead to all your overnight stays or do you take a chance? RSM8

    • @andypandy.
      @andypandy.  Před 7 lety

      for part of the way back I did, just because there were going to be a lot of others going back around the same time and we pretty much booked out whole towns on the way over. but most of the time I just winged it and hoped for the best :-) I used an app called WikiCamps to find places to camp on the way home.

  • @wyvernbiker
    @wyvernbiker Před 7 lety

    I wonder how much dirt that digger can carry.

    • @andypandy.
      @andypandy.  Před 7 lety

      I did a quick look up and found that it can carry 22 m3 of dirt which on average is about 30 ton but most likely higher as they are digging for minerals, the machine weighs 380 tons hahahaha OMG!! wow that is bloody heavy!! This is an awesome question mate, I am glad I looked it up now, I wouldn't have otherwise :-)

  • @MrAusadventure
    @MrAusadventure Před 7 lety

    Some people just can't smash out the km's and have to stop far too regularly. Which is fine when there are lots of things to see and regular towns. But out there?
    HaHa! I'd never heard of that TV show before. Yeah, mining towns = lots of pubs!
    Geez! That hole is wider than a prostitutes vag!

    • @andypandy.
      @andypandy.  Před 7 lety

      maybe not the prostitutes that work there hahahhaa You're right, there isn't a whole lot to see but at the same time there is...... no towns to speak of to make it a stopping point though, must have just decided to go super slow and take their time to get back to work :-)

    that is a big mine...was a call inn driver on minimg trucks some years ago..but mine weight 200ton, not 400ton as thise you looked at. Its a mighty feeling to control one of them. biggest one l have heard of is 800ton..that is absolutly sick.
    Are you riding home alone?

    • @andypandy.
      @andypandy.  Před 7 lety

      800 ton!!! jeez mate, that is bloody massive!! Yeah, riding home alone, made it easy to stop where ever and when ever.

      Right now l would have taken your place...miss riding now...cold and very wet now days here...

    • @andypandy.
      @andypandy.  Před 7 lety

      That is the beauty of living in Australia.... can ride all year round, even when it's cold it isn't really that cold :-)

    • @toby7504
      @toby7504 Před 7 lety +1

      Andy Pandy Motovlogs thats the downside here...it becomes REALY cold...and they put salt on the roads to kill the ice and that destroy bikes...
      Im so excited to test out my new xlite x551 helmet i can hardly wait....aaarrgh... dam winter
