I started smoking since my teenage, got addicted to cigarettes. Spent my whole life fighting Cigarettes addiction. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Was actually diagnosed with cptsd. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. This is something that really need to be use globally to help people with related health challenges.

Love the video & thanks for addressing this! It may not be worth much but I'll add my two cents here.
So vaping has been a thing for a decade or more & other than people doing stupid things (improperly modifying devices, using cheap batteries with no protection circuitry that blow up in your face, not knowing how to measure nicotine in mg/ml when making juice, etc.) we haven't seen widespread issues. We would have seen something by now if it was the standard PG/VG, nicotine & flavoring mix to blame for what's recently been happening. Yes there are TONS of flavors out there & that's the biggest variable in that equation but compared to the number of folks vaping, the number reporting significant health issues is very small. It is also my understanding that in every reported case it's been THC and/or CBD oil that's been vaped. Given what we already know about how street drugs are often cut with other substances (in this case quite possibly a form of vitamin E but can't say for sure) it doesn't seem like a logical conclusion to claim that vaping, as a whole, is bad. There's certainly a lot of unknowns so I can't disagree with what ZDogg is saying to that point. But rather than saying stop vaping everything until we figure this out, which may lead to folks that have quit smoking picking up that habit again & we already know that definitely brings health risks, why not simply discourage the products that are bought on the street?
Note: I'm not a doctor! I'm just an IT guy & someone that does a lot of work with electronics design & repair. I have a good understanding of how ecigs & the like work. I'm also someone who quit smoking thanks to vaping. I know we don't know all the risks of vaping yet & we should acknowledge that, but let's maybe not throw the baby out with the bathwater on this one?

Round that up to 2%, sure.
Regular pharmaceutical products have a 2% side affect range.
Vaping, I’ll say it’s the killer even though it’s been proven not to be, has a side affect range of 1% of that! 1% of the 2% given to pharmaceutical companies.

I've been vaping regular e-juice with and without nicotine for about 8 or 9 years. I started with the basic mech-mods and eventually got into box mods. I've never used the Juul, cbd or thc products and I am fine. I was a cloud chaser back when I started, I would even compete in cloud comps, now it's more for the nic fix, but my point here is that I am more then sure vaping is not safe. But neither is drinking soda, eating candy ( I am diabetic) or drinking alchohol. Let's be honest 90% of all things we do are not "good" for us. But I do know that cigarettes are definitely more dangerous, if you just stick basic name brand E-juice you wouldn't be healthy but you would be ok. Acute exogenous lipoid pneumonia is caused by oil in the lungs and nicotine vape doesn't have oil, and as such can't cause that condition.

There is an explanation. This is a PR campain with a social media component just like the poppies chicken sandwich. The tobacco industry is loosing money to vaping.
States get money from each pack of cigarettes sold and vaping is costing them money. Anti-smoking groups get their money from cigarettes too, due to the tobacco settlement. Reductions in cancer rates will harm the medical industries profits. Many states want to legalize weed so they can get lots of tax money, and they don't want a weed panic. It's the perfect storm against vaping.

Vaping has been around since 2007 and suddenly we're seeing people sick - vaping thc oil, vitamin e oil, or any other oil is a horrible idea! No one should be coating their lungs in oil then expecting them to perform gas exchange! THC continues to be a felony in some states, making people hesitant to admit to its use, yet recent findings are "dank vape" products are the cause. "Dank vapes" isn't even a real company, it's a blank cartridge/ packaging you can purchase online and fill. The news reported the shut down of one of these black market shops full of jars containing oil with THC in it.
With looming flavor bans there will be more black market juice and more illness.
We do know what is in ejuice, every company had to submit recipes to the FDA. The teen usage is largely due to Juul and juul type devices, sold in gas stations and liquor stores, with 50mg of nicotine to get kids hooked fast. In comparison adults using flavors generally use 0mg, 3mg or 6mg, with an occasional 12mg or 18mg for pen type devices. The UK limited the amount of nicotine in their ejuice and hasn't seen a huge rise in youth usage. We need common sense regulations and enforcement efforts (limit mg/ml, no sale under 21, penalties if found in schools, only sell in vape shops that are like adult clubs/ stores that you cannot even enter if not of age, take the option away from shady gas stations and liquor stores - the same places I bought my cigarettes as a teen.
ZDogg these devices will save lives, anyone quitting cigarettes is a win and should be encouraged. We have over a decade of data, ther information is out there! If you've never smoked these products are not for you, but if you do smoke you could potentially feel, breathe, and smell better, along with get sick less often, that's what happened for me.

And ZDoggMD I'd be more than happy to answer any question you might have about the different types of devices, the pending FDA regulations for ENDS (Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems), what legal vape juice really is, how adults don't need 50mg because the goal is to lower usage to 0mg nicotine, how big tobacco created parent companies that own juul and the like, whos goal is to keep people hooked, current legislation, bans I know of and what resulting studies have shown in those areas, and why bathtub black market ejuice is a really bad idea when compared to the certified clean rooms legit companies use. I am by no means an expert, but I have done my homework and want correct information out there, not these negative headlines that mix using ENDS products with black market marijuana, marijuana derivatives, or synthetic marijuana products. With the number of tobacco related deaths a year, it's important we get this one right. In fact health 3.0 demands it!

I vaped for about a year and now I'm on to just gum. I don't see myself going back to smoking or vaping. I do think that vaping is a god send for those trying to quit.
We need some EFFECTIVE regulation on these products so that they can be justified as a healthier alternative to inhaling carbon monoxide and tar. I just worry that those who took the first step to quitting get freaked out and start smoking again.
One thing is for sure, nicotine addiction is horrible. Gum works for me and I'm trying to kick that now, but if you aren't addicted to nicotine DON'T START.

@@adayahisrael5546 This is an interesting point. It's true that they don't want people to quit, but for some odd reason it is easier to quit vaping than to quit smoking.
Even transitioning from smoking to vaping was hard as hell.
In cigarettes, there are a lot of dangerous substances added that make the smoking experience "better." If vaping theoretically took over the market, I wonder if they'd be able lobby as hard as the tobacco industry to get similar additives into e-liquid. Totally a tangent, but I just thought about it :).
As far as them not wanting their customers to stop using their product, I agree. The only thing is that dropping vaping seems to be easier than tobacco. I really feel that vaping can still be a useful tool to quit, but it seems now people just want to continue vaping. Lungs don't like random crap in them and it's important that people drop both vaping and smoking.
Hopefully people can see vaping as a tool to quit rather than the new thing to do all day. I'm sure the manufacturers want them to be the later but it still can be useful if used appropriately.

The rest is, oral and timing habits that are unique to each individual. (Like with a cup of coffee, or after a meal). But, nicotine, while addictive, in itself has not shown to be cancer causing. It is everything else in cigarettes that have the bad effects. He said, it may take 6 months with a vape, and gradually reducing the nicotine, is the most successful way to quit. I agree though that if we aren't smoking or vaping why start. I hope you find out for sure the health risks but; I do not miss my coughing up a lung in the morning ritual. I love ya Zdocgg! • @flitsies
    @flitsies Před 4 lety +6

I would say that perhaps it's not so much vaping that is the problem, but more to do with what is being vaped.
It stands to reason that if people are doing fine no problems at all vaping for years then suddenly they drop down dead from lung problems and they have changed their supply then it would make good sense to explore the supply that they have changed to.
Also look at how long their lungs had been turning bad, if it was recent and quickly then Cleary it's probably the newer products, but if it's been over a period of time then the older products need to be investigated.
Most people keep records of their purchases, ie credit cards or whatever, so check the products they last purchased and check the products they had purchased over time.
I know people who have been using these vape things for years with no problems at all, no shortness of breath no issues happy to have given up cigarettes, and considering it's only recently started to happen that people got sick rather quickly that suggests to me either a bad batch or dodgy practices.
Not really any different from people buying dodgy cigarettes filled with saw dust or wood shavings or some other stuff like rat poison which it seems can find their way onto the cigarette market.
If something isn't regulated properly you will always get unscrupulous vendors trying to make a quick buck.

As an rn who conducts health surveys prior to patients undergoing procedures, I will confidently say "cold turkey" is the only response I get from anyone who has successfully quit smoking and not taken it back up.
Cold turkey is the response of someone who has both the will power and has made up their mind to stop smoking. The patches, gum, and other like items don't force you to make up your mind to stop and I suspect that's why the people to whom I speak who use them don't quit smoking.

Unfortunately, I hate to say this - but how can we ever expect know the affects of vaping if nobody vapes? I'm not suggesting that people who have never smoked or vaped suddenly pick up vaping. And I would agree that it is better to quit smoking and vaping altogether. However, given a comparison of the two (smoking vs vaping), while vaping is a question-mark, we pretty much already know what smoking does, and how bad it is.

@@jasonli1787 Fair point. On some level I think its a matter of perspective and personal interest. If your part of an activity, it's easy to default to thinking it's cool, when your not part of the activity, you see it as a needless nuisance. This applies to a lot of things, like modified car culture for instance. Those that appreciate modified cars might be inclined to think a burnout and engine-revving is cool and respect the skill/engineering involved, those not into cars think that the driver is an attention-seeking dipshit. It's all about perspective.

I’ve made this comment before - but it’s worth saying again. While placebo effects can certainly be in play, if gabapentin (an epilepsy drug) can be used off label by pain MDs for neurological pain there may be some legitimate medical basis behind using CBD (which in FDA approved form is an epilepsy drug (Epidiolex)) for neurological pain relief. But either way vaping it is not a logical choice when other alternatives are readily available.
