    Today we remove an existing heat pump package unit and install a new 14 SEER RunTru by Trane heat pump package unit with a new custom made unit flashing. This is my first time installing this brand of package unit. All in all, I'm happy with it and think it's a great budget hvac unit for anyone.

    Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I czcams.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

    Nice install. Sounds very quiet. Years ago they would install a t or even a cross fitting to install 1 or 2 clean out spots for drain line but do not see it much anymore. Worked at a very cheap company that never would spend a dime to save a hundred dollars in maintenance. Drilled holes in at least 15 roof top unit drain lines to blow them out when the PVC line got blocked. Great ideal placing trap inside of unit. Trane makes nice stuff. They were owned by American Standard back in the 80's. Thanks for the great vid.

    I don’t know how you always know what size flex it is and you always bring the right materials. I think that unit should’ve been installed on some pads at least 2 inches high. I don’t trust those preformed P traps and you might end up with some condensate leak on that unit. I can’t tell you how many times over the years I’ve been doing this for 36 of them, I’ve had to cut those preformed P traps out because they are not deep enough. I never use them on any of my installs are use elbows to get a good trap. In the future if you want to use these you should raise that unit a few inches with some pads

    • @rodhoutx
      @rodhoutx Před 2 lety

      I have one of those P traps on my split system. It was added when I had a new system installed. The builder didn't put one on the original system because it drains to the bathroom sink, but there was always the sound of air in the sink drain, so I liked having a trap. BUT... the coil manual (yep, I'm the weird person that likes to read a/c manuals) says to have a much deeper trap, and now I see why because my trap gets blown out all-the-time! If I fill up the bathroom sink and then drain it, the trap gets sucked out and it gurgles loud. If the heat has been on a few days, the trap starts to dry out and the loud gurgle is back again. Funny thing -- when the installers added the trap, they had also shortened the drain line and the trap was in a 45 degree run and keeping up all kind of gurgling noise! Had them re-do the plumbing and put it back down the way it was... should have asked for a deeper trap, but there was all kinds of things they had to be called back for.

    Wondering why you did not extend at least with hard pipe and reconnect under the house? Hope you at least put a piece of pipe to splice the flex. Also would have been less to buy the start collars 14 each vs your hard cost labor divided by how long to make that collar. Also duct sealant is less expensive and quicker than the tape. soooooooooooo does TN NOT require 3ft metal run off from the unit? NC requires 3ft of metal on the feed side, no metal on this install flex hooked right too the unit. Also you enclosed the system completely , no break for inspection? Not permitted? We have to have an inspection before the hood enclosure is installed. Then a final after its installed here in NC
