It's time for a whole new episode of Ring of The Hawk, how on earth have I not covered Eddie Guerrero in ECW? Exciting that I get to do this now! Eddie joined ECW IN 1995 on a loan from NJPW and the crowd just loved this guy. This run got him signed to wcw along with Dean Malenko so it must have gone well! Eddie spent most of this run as the tv champion for an added bit of interest.

Here's a factoid for you: Art Barr was meant to join ECW alongside Guerrero, but that obviously didn't happen because of his passing. They were meant to feud with Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge, The Public Enemy. Guerrero and RVD decided to honor Art Barr by using his Frog Splash move.
It wasn't scrapped lmao it only didn't go through because IDK ART BARR FUCKING DIED
@@MrBlazemaster525he basically said that brother

I heard a different version of that story that claimed Heyman thought Art Barr would be the bigger star of the two and wanted only him to join ECW, but he passed away and had to settle for Eddie Guerrero.
Eddie conquered the 3 big pillars of Wrestling. Mexico, Japan and the U.S.A. RIP
Im Art Barrs nephew. Thank you for mentioning him. Not a lot of people know about him and eddies run! Thanks again oh and shuv it!
Didn't know that you're his nephew?🤔🤔🤔🤔
@@zacharythomason7359 yeah his sister Peggy is my mom. Married my father John. Sean and Josh Barr are my uncles. I even have a couple of his masks from Mexico but sadly when my grandma passed away last year( his mom) all his stuff got dispersed to the rest of the family. I wish I could have got some more of his stuff
Malenko v. Guerrero should be studied by every aspiring wrestler. The crispness, the brutality, the fact they never had the same match, it's pure magic.
Malenko is such a underated wrestler
@@primokk4669 He isn't underrated. He never was a draw, he had no mic skills, no charisma, had no body. He was your run of the mill vanilla midget. Great as your #2 or #3 match guy when you need somebody who can roll around the mat for 10 minutes but that's it.
@@ShadowAngel18606QUIET, IGNORANT 1!!
Their series was what TRULY opened 😳😳😳😳😳 in this country, when it came to Juniors/CW-style wrestling!!
@@ShadowAngel18606He was built like a rock for his size especially in Japan, ECW and before he started getting injuries in 1999.
16:50 that Moonsault leg drop is crazy
2 Cold Scorpio was too based
Incredible athleticism
Those Eddie Guerrero vs dean malenko matches in ecw were classic matches. The matches they had in wcw were even better these two just had amazing in ring chemistry
Just like that night at No Way Out 2004, the crowd errupts in cheers with Eddie crowned the new champion
Eddie will always be one of my all time favorites.
#RIPLatinoHeat 🙏
Eddie was the complete package. Great technical wrestling, brawling and high flying. Great character work. Truly the GOAT.
These matches are crazy, there will never be anyone like Eddie.
The steiners and especially Scott are national treasures. I hope the new steiner in nxt follow that trajectory
Taker gave him a "blessing" on NXT.
We'll be seeing more of him.
@@dellowery Triple H is making him popular so that he can come out of retirement, beat him and fire him . Then cut a promo on how he is still taking down WCW guy's families.
The fact that Eddie was the only person to take the title away from Rey is somehow fitting, considering their relationship and interactions in the ring over the years.
This was without a doubt the golden era of ECW (The worst thing about this time period was the ECW fan they all thought they were smarter then the Wrestlers and tried to dictate what went on in the Ring! Raven’s take on the ECW fans it’s honestly spot on) Eddie’s work in Mexico with Art Barr was actually better imo (The international scene was so much different then now) It’s a bit sad how so much of this point and time is long gone 😢
Golden era which lasted a few months?? ECW fans didn't care about these guys which is the reality they cared more about crap like sandman and sabu. Eddie was only three for like 3 months anyone with talent left ECW after a few months
Damn I Can't Believe It's Been 18 Years Since We Lost Eddie Guerrero His ECW Matches Were Amazing Great Vid Marky.
Eddie was truly one of the greatest ever to lace up a pair of boots. Inside the ring and his character work was second to none
"Hat Guy", that's my dad's boy right there, ECW legend as a fan. Cool seeing them embrace. *21:42*
R.I.P. Eddie
Damn that’s soo cool bro
Any whereabouts of him rn?
Too Cold Scorpio was an amazing wrestler for the Era he came from. I had no idea Dean was a flyer. By the time I was old enough to understand, he was feuding with Jericho the man of 1001 holds lol.
i stumble upon eddie's matches 3-4 times a yeear and i'm always amazed how good this guy was, his reversals are arguably the best ever....
A truth fact
Before joining ECW, Eddie left Triple A after Art Barr passed away and he tried to return to CMLL due to his friendship with el hijo del Santo but Paco Alonso the chairman of the promotion denied Eddie to coming back because he unmasked his masked character named máscara mágica
I knew because el hijo del Santo told that story on his own TV show back in 2011 when he went to Eddie's grave
We miss you Eddie 🙏
It's hilarious. When he was a alive, he never drew a dime and to this day is the lowest drawing WWE Champion of all times. He drops dead and suddenly everybody is and always was his biggest fan, lol 🤣
@@ShadowAngel18606"People couldn't be fans of a wrestler because his ratings were low... JUST BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T OKAY!?"
@@nottegiew If they were fans, the ratings wouldn't have been shit. Logical, right? But nobody ever wanted to see Guerrero, that is a proven fact in 2 promotions.
@@ShadowAngel18606lol Bret, Sid, Nash, HBK and Miz drew less during their reigns.
I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure Match 5 is the match Taz breaks his neck which is why Eddie fought most of the match by himself.
I think you might be right. I thought it was a different match but that piledriver looks pretty rough
That double team spike pile driver on Taz by Malenko and Scorpio is what broke his neck and shortened his career by years
You should do Eddie’s indie run from 2001-2002 on ring of the hawk.
I believe that was the piledriver that broke Taz's neck.
It was
He walked to the hospital, where he found out.
Much to the Doctors disbelief
"And the crowd come.....to their feet" Nice Pregnant pause!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
ECW could have had so much more good wrestling like this era if they stayed alive for a few more years. Imagine RVD vs. Low Ki in 2002, or Jerry Lynn vs. Bryan Danielson.
Supposedly paul heyman has said that’s the direction he would’ve taken ecw in into the 2000’s
Yep
I would love to see a ROH on Edge's final WWE run
Were there 30 matches or less in that run?
@@BubbaBearGames28 televised, 1 live event
@@Viper0412 It seems like he was in more than just one premium live event this run. But I appreciate you giving me that information. It wouldn't surprise me out of this CZcamsr did a ring of the hawk video on Edge's final WWE run.
@@BubbaBearGamesnah a live event meaning non televised house show, 28 includes tv and ppv so Edge 2020-2023 would be eligible
@@Viper0412 ah, but ring of the hawk doesn't count house shows.
Finally! Been waiting for this to come out! putting some respect on Latino Heat's Name!
Eddie Guerrero the Latino heat of professional wrestling
Few ROH ideas: Hulk Hogan in WWE 2002-2003, pretty sure he had 29 televised matches, Hulk Hogan would also qualify for his WWE run from 2005-2006 with 6 televised matches, and his TNA run as well with 3 matches. When Booker T returned to WWE in 2011 he had 6 televised matches so that would also qualify.
Fitting, Eddie is the champion here too. Excellent video, Hawk!
Ive always remembered that fan you keep calling Jericho because of his insane reaction during Psicosis entrance against rey mysterio in the Mexican Deathmatch i believe it was. He just always looked out of his fucking mind lol
Philadelphia mark!
Brother that's why i love your channel. You make videos on hidden gems like this. Hopefully you do more ecw videos
It never stops amaze me, just how great Eddie was in ring! Plus how many moves he mastered and coupd play heel and face to perfection. Really was and still is true legend. And I absolutely, 100% agree with him being new champion!
Malenko is for me the most underated wrestler of all time
This stuff was absolutely mindblowing to discover on late night tv for a kid who had only ever watched WWF
Given that the Guerrero/Malenko feud was never decided, I still think that they should have done this at One Night Stand (2005) instead of vs Benoit
Dean retired in 2001 to become a road agent. But, WWE had him wrestle Sin Cara in his try out match. He also wrestled at the Brian Pillman Memorial show and never laced them up again.
We love and miss Eddie
I miss him so much.
Love these types of matches especially when i was in my teens when it was going on. RIP Eddie and Barr...

Tazz really had his neck broken. Career shortening accident
Had I known about it earlier I'd have gone to a local wrestling circuit here in Missouri that showcased Eddie Guerrero. As luck would have it I saw the flyer 2 weeks after the event. When my parents were newlyweds back in the late 60's we had a local wrestling show televised every Saturday night out of Saint Joseph, Missouri. My German mom didn't understand that wrestling was a show and would shout at the television when a heel did something illegal or just plain wrong with an emphatic "Vats he doing?! He can't do zat!"
Wrestling became too big for it's own good with WE swallowing up everything. Perhaps we need to go back to local, small production circuits to get the wrestling we all know and enjoy.
Eddie was just so ahead of his time
With all the crap going on in the world and my team bottom of the prem, this is just what we need. Good old Eddie vid, miss that guy and can't believe it's been so long. Think he he missed by nearly everyone in wrestling.
I remember a few years ago watching Eddie's ECW run on the former WWE Network. Pretty good stuff from that run!
The back senton into the ring is just a nice move. It's unique and beautiful.
It's crazy the transformation he went through
Ring of the hawk the inspiration in impact. I think they only had 9 or 10 matches but I'm sure it'll be an A
You have to do a video on 2 Cold Scorpio, he`s one of the most if not THE most underrated wrestler of all time. He taught himself how to wrestle and he invented the 450 splash. He should have been bigger and most wrestlers today got their style from him, weather they know it or not, except he could tell a good story and sell. He`s wrestled in every company except AEW and is still wrestling today.
Eddie is and still the best wrestler in my opinion.
That’s pretty crazy the fan has a sign that said Art Barr lives! In the 6 match, those fans really knew their stuff!
God I miss Eddie.
Terrific video! I mever saw early ecw only ecw from 2000 till the end. Seeing eddy in ecw is crazy.
He talked like a million bucks, he worked like a million bucks and he looked like a million bucks, one of the few complete packages in wrestling history
If memory serves match 5 is where Tazz broke his neck on a pile driver and then walked to the hospital, that’s why eddy does most of the match.
This is the content we all love ❤
Taz went out in that match because his neck was broken. He wouldn't return for about a year, which is when the Taz character was reborn.
I'm currently right in the middle if watching this run!
Wow. Very impressive stuff, and more argument for me to properly watch ECW TV too.
Special mention for Too Cold Scorpio too. Very underrated based on the stuff I have seen.
Guerrero vs. Malenko was pretty much the feud in 1995. Eric Bischoff would either scout or "raid" according to Paul Heyman, and signed Guerrero, Dean Malenko, and Chris Benoit. Maybe not at the same time, but Guerrero was signed to WCW in '95. ECW was one of the first American wrestling companies to bring in Lucha Libre. Of course, WCW came calling, and the Cruiserweight Division was born. So, yeah, Bischoff poached a good portion of ECW's talent. He could pay them; Heyman would have difficulties paying his talent.
It's fitting to have Eddie number 1 because he's the GOAT in my eyes
I feel like you could've made this into another rendition of Feud with The Hawk involving Malenko vs Guerrero since all but 1 match in this had some sort of iteration of those 2 being in the match.
RIP Eddy G 🙏
You almost forget some of our favorites were in ECW for a time.
Great video as usual. I get not liking Malenko (he was a very dry character), but the guy was a superb technical wrestler. Eddie is obviously awesome here, his ability to perform so many different high impact moves was insane.
Props to the person who when he fought malenko was pointing to the ring when people were distracted lol
Heyman: Wow, Eddie and Dean was awesome!!!
Others: How do we follow it up?
Heyman: Do it again!
Make one for Dean Malenko
Don't know if it's been mentioned in the comments section already; but... The Malenko-Guerrero match shown here from WCW Saturday Night was from the OCTOBER 7 broadcast of that year. Not 'August'.
2 cold Scorpio was so underrated
Master of the Gut Punch ❤❤
#1 #2 on the list are Mexicano, that's what's up, the channel host sounds like from across the Ocean to me so I appreciate the honesty.
Eddie Guerrero the Man!
Miss you Eddie
Great matches, awesome video
The first ECW review!! Hell yeah! And its Eddie Gurrero!!
He did Rey's run a couple months back
Vince Mcmahon as the final one of season 4
Funny thing about "Chris Jericho" in the penultimate Dean/Eddy singles match...if I remember my Usenet posts right, he might have been the cause for distraction in one of the earlier Eddy/Dean matches at the ECW Arena. I vaguely remember talk about him making some kind of scene with one of the wrestlers or something, and he got escorted out. I don't remember if it was this match or not. '
'
He was called "Dreads" in those old Arena reports, and he was a regular at the Philly shows.
"Crisp Jericho" is a funnier nickname imo
You could make a video about the Onita race at FMW, despite him being the creator of the company he didn't fight so many battles
Hell yes, It was amazing!
Might be my fav video of yours yet!
If we are talking strictly in-ring wrestling skills, Dean Malenko is in my top 5. That man knew all the moves and was so crisp
Eddie’s ECW gimmick was Latino heat but with confidence issue
Not exactly. He wasn’t used to cutting promos or being the charisma guy because that was Art Barr’s role in their team. Eddie hadn’t yet come out of his shell.
It really wouldn’t be until his WWE run that he would develop his character & personality more.
Latino Warmth?
Eddie Guerrero had that swagger baby
RIP Eddie
Isn't Match 5 the one where Taz broke his neck on the spike pile driver? After that is when he came back for is insanely dominant run. I remember watching ECW back in these days and I think people forget that besides all the hard core stuff, there was some of the best pure wrestling out there as well. Eddie/Dean, Mysterio/Psychosis, and Mysterio/Juventud all had amazing 2/3 falls matches in ECW.
RIP Latino Heat
piledriver is when taz broke his neck in match 5
We didn't deserve Eddy. Latino Heat forever
Paul is infamous for running good matches into the ground.
“ both guys just running all over the place like they did a line of cocaine. ..shades of Billy Corgan “ 😂
Very fitting for Eddie to beat Rey and take the top spot lol
It's fitting than Eddie is one to take the Ring Of The Hawk title from Rey.
Great video
Eddie guerrero is the 🐐
I don't know if it is long enough but Eddie was in ROH in the early days of the company after being fired by WWE 🤔
You didn't know he was in ECW.
Neither did I.😂
He was a master in the ring.
This was a beautiful video.
Can you do Chris Benoit in Ecw?
i was looking for that eddie vs marty janetty match for years till i realised it was fucking dark match
Yea I was really looking forward to waiting it when I saw it on the list. Proper annoying.
