That was very cool footage
Look Toronto! Tobboganing in Vancouver is legal.😅😂
Just last week, news reporters were announcing water restrictions coming for the upcoming growing season. This is a blessing, so enjoy and embrace this gift western Canada 🇨🇦
It's nice, but not nearly enough...
We're still well below the average snowpack for this time of year
So lucky… enjoy folks. Never get any bad weather in Ireland, it just rains. Not even heavy rain, just annoying rain. Wish we had this snow. So lucky.
Rest of Canada is not lucky haha just here in south BC we get the “novelty” snow 😂
In Ireland if you don’t like the weather all you have to do is wait 10 minutes ;)
We used to get annoying rain here in Vancouver but it’s been pretty dry last few years and we have had water restrictions and forest fires all over the province. Be careful what you wish for.
@@toyotasupra97no it has not been “dry” - we still get plenty of rain, we always get snow, we have always had forest fires
Not so lucky when you have somewhere to be. Snow very quickly loses its novelty.
I've lived in BC my whole life, it does snow during winter, it's not that unusual. What is unusual now is people's inability to deal with it. And I guess most people don't remember the snow/cold snap we got in 2008... along with all the other large amounts of snow I grew up with over the years.
I don't drive in the snow in the lower mainland because too many do not have experience driving in snow. Been in BC for 34 years, and most of those did not have snow in the winter. At least when it does snow, it doesn't last for weeks on end or months.
@@rps1689 We live in the lower mainland as well. We have a 4x4 truck that's good in the snow, but won't take it out often for the same reason. Most others don't know how to drive, especially on the initial snowfall.
@@cubabound2049I respect those who stay off the roads because they know they don't have experience driving in it. The worst are drivers who grew up in the snow but haven't driven in snow in years and are overconfident in their abilities. Snow tires are half the battle.
@@cubabound2049 My only experience driving in snow and blizzards was back east in the 70s and early 80s. Driving cars, buses, and trucks.
The warnings are for the immigrants lol
Bright snow can almost be as nice as sunshine
Vancouver traffic turns into absolute Armageddon with even just one inch of snow
So does traffic in Edmonton and Calgary ffs
It can take you 4 hours on the number one Highway from downtown to Surrey on a snow day
Guess poor old frosty the snow “man”won’t be around anymore😂
It's always great entertainment when Vancouver joins the rest of Canada in dealing with winter, lol.
Hello Vancouver. Welcome to Canada. ❄️
Enjoy Vancouver
Lyndsay seems to be full of joy😍
Must be on drugs
Dude on the right side of the split screen at 0:44 looks like he's enjoying his snow day off of school.
We in the more northern parts of the province, use winter tires. Mine even have studs. Should check into that coastal people. You could be more prepared, even if it is just for one or two days out of the year.
Why don’t they close businesses for two days a year??? That would be so much more realistic.
Even if people use snow tires Vancouver drivers like to be 2 feet behind the car in front and drive 20 above the limit no mater what.
@@5jay540 Yes, I have noticed that being there in the winter at times. Problem is, many haven't lived in real Canadian weather, and expect only rain .
Great fun!!!
Wait what? Schools are closed in Canada because of just a little snow in the lower mainland
Vancouver is a different kind of Canada. The city doesn’t have snow clearing equipment and the cars don’t have the right tires, so it makes the teachers’ commute difficult. There is more need for A/C in summer, and this is only a couple times in the winter.
It was 30cm of snow overnight. The biggest snowfall in one day in almost 30 years.
SAY IT, just say it SNOWMAN 😊
Such woke nonsense 🤦🏽♂️
😂
What % of budget is set aside for dealing with snow in vancouver compared to Tor & Mtl.
Vancouver and Surrey are the two largest cities and both spend about 4 million per year.
@@em6855 close, budgets 100m in Toronto. But the population is massive in comparison.
Less than a tenth
Weather is wonderful here in beautiful Jamaica 🇯🇲. No more to be said…
I love the snow as well.
As long as I do not drive in it, and it only lasts for a day or two.
Huh ! I thought the deal with the expensive real estate is that they at least didn't get winter ?
This announcer is so droll.
It's the CBC.
The announcer has a very OFF putting vibe.
The snow are blessings for the farmers.
That white-haired lady said, "I love seeing the kidlets out." Never heard that one before.
Kids are lovin' it lol
Snowperson? Did you ask they/them what their preferred pronouns even are?
I take great offense to this! I id as an abominable snowpeople
"as many snow people as human people" it has a nice rhythm to it, it sounds fun
School closures? Really? Wow. Things must be really bad.
It was 30cm of snow overnight. The biggest snowfall in one day in almost 30 years.
@@BC_Geoff Some areas had record snowfall.
Snow is not rare in Vancouver. Vancouver gets atleast one good snowfall (5 to 20 cm. ) each year, and often gets skiffs of snow here and there from as early as mid November through to March.🤔
I was born in vancouver in mid-march and it snowed on the day i was born. You're right it snows every winter in Vancouver. Although this was the biggest snowfall in one day in almost 30 years.
Ya nothing unusual. It's so easy to cherry pick data to make it look abnormal.
What happened to your coverage of the rest of BC?
The rest of BC is accustomed to receiving snow, south coast not so much.
Nothing outside Vancouver exists....... Or it could be that the rest of BC always gets a ton of snow and people are prepared for it so its not news.
Where are the time we still needed to go to school no matter what and the school bus driver also responsibilities too slow down and make sure the kids gets home safe ?
Record breaking cold!! It is the coldest it has been all year!
At least 10-12 centimetres here in burnaby. Stay safe out there!
Is that a lot? Maybe is you have so few plows.
@@user-oi9bg6fx5t Try using your hands to estimate how much it is off your table or floor? Then imagine a driveway full of it. Plus sidewalk and walkway. It adds up :)
But thankfully, it was powdery this morning. Heavier this afternoon. Will freeze over tonight when temperatures go down, so will need to go out again to get as much snow as possible off, then salt the walkways so no one slips.
@@kaze987 glad you survived 10cm of snow falling. Very scary.
@@user-oi9bg6fx5t just realized (duh) that I shoveled 3 times today. First time was 10cm then lunch time another 10cm. Third time was very little just clearing it off so no ice tomorrow. So more like 20cm total. Parts of town got 30cm which is a lot haha. I'm already running out of space to put the snow!
Have the buses got snow tires on the rear axle ?
No. But I saw a clever bus driver on a hill spin them to expose the pavement then would back up and spin again to the pavement a few more times. This created a stretch of exposed asphalt; then he nailed it and got the grip and the momentum sent his bus up the hill. I have done the similar thing in the past, but got most of the passengers to go to the back of the bus to create more weight.
They have, but they struggle on the hills, Metro Vancouver has lots of them hills.
@@giancarlogimang9207
Just learned they are suppose to have about a third of their fleet fitted with winter tires by now.
Closed schools?? Why? In Alberta schools don’t shut down till -40
We need to have the snow or we will be rationing water come summer! ☃️❄️🌝
Sorry to spoil the fun.,..as a retired nurse I still feel the stress to meet my duty
.....my heart goes to them all❤
So if you had snow tires now worries if you didn’t well I hoped you stayed at home and did everyone including yourself a favour. If not required for driving in conditions like this please don’t.
Looks like it will be short lived; already slush in a lot of places even in the higher altitudes.
I was just going to report to the news that it’s snowing outside all morning on Vancouver island . I thought maybe people would like to know that’s it’s snowing.
🤣🤣🤣
wtf
@@blahblog4322 I’m mocking the news headlines. They often state the obvious facts when they have nothing better to report. Pretty sure there’s a lot more going on than just snow. Like how are the slopes? What about the people on the streets and how many hummingbird feeders are people are keeping them in at night so they don’t freeze of if nobody feeds the birds at all. The need for boots for homeless people. Just say a friend mention someone wearing flip flops steeling shoes from the thrift store the same day I saw the #1 search on Facebook marketplace was looking for men’s boots. I didn’t hear them say stay home if you don’t have to go out. The accident car crash ratios double in this weather and you face a fine if you don’t have M&S tires.
And remember to shovel your walkways or maybe help somebody with disability shovel theirs. I want to hear more good news sick of the repetitive suppressing rest. Let’s just keep the world is a tiny bubble.
Hurray, snow is fun. Please more snow. It's a lot of fun.
I just saw a snowmobiler drive in the street today
3 hrs to shovel the drive. Fun with all the adults doing it at the same time.
And in my own personal opinion,And last night,January 16,2024 at midnight,And the huge amount of snow or major snow fall started falling non --- stop until today, January 17,2024.And the massive snow fall dumped 20 c.m. to 25 c.m. here. And the snow finally stopped falling down at 2 : 00 p.m. today here in our super natural, beautiful and scenic Pacific Northwest Canadian/Royal Canadian major city called Vancouver,British Columbia's regional district called our home city of Richmond ( Island City,By Nature ),British Columbia.

4 days of sub zero tempertures in one city on the planet is not really gonna have any impact on the upward trend of the global average temperature
Well he'd be correct if he said for the globe.

Lived in B.C. for 23 years. Now live in New Brunswick. Doesnt even compare.
Grab a shovel B.C.
I moved back to NB for 3 years; couldn't stand it so moved back to BC. Lived in BC 34 years and a total of 29 in NB. I only shovelled my steps; not intent on driving in that snow especially with so many out there that have hardly any experience driving in it.
@@rps1689 it's crazy to think in a place where you can buy one set of winters that will last you probably 10 seasons everyone refuses to do so. I remember passing people in my 06' golf when I moved back for 4 years in my late 20s.

Nanaimo schools were closed today
This is not RARE for Vancouver
I booked off 2 days from work and came Vancouver to have fun. This time I chose not to rent a car but this city disappoints me badly. There are NO sidewalks on some of the streets in Richmond. I don't know what the city do with the high property tax here.....definitely a disaster
Richmond is a suburb and it's own separate city.
