How I wish I could go to the top, my favorite building in SF.
Sue it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, that’s for sure.
I remember those cameras. They were lots of fun to see all kinds of things down below. After 911 they were removed.
I moved here in 2016 and was wondering why I didn't see them in the lobby.
Why?
Why in English Ordinal gematria does "Transamerica" add up to 122 like "San Francisco" and the city sits on the 122nd meridian?
@@mentallyilldarkjeroid5378 Your thesis should consider that the 122nd meridian covers a lot of territory. Walnut Creek, CA is 122°03′54″W (east of SF) and Muir Woods is 122°34′15″W (westward of SF). Bolinas is 122°41′11″W. In that 122 swath you can place just about all of Berkeley, Oakland and Marin County.
@@adorabasilwinterpock6035 I think the cameras were removed partly to prevent anyone from using them for nefarious purposes and also to keep people from coming into the building.
Nice story -- fascinating to see the spire interior with the light fixtures.
In the late '70s I worked for a small tour company giving tours around the City. When driving through the Chinatown and North Beach areas, almost always there was the question about the "ears" sticking out on two sides of the Pyramid. I would (in a serious tone) tell those asking that one of the dangers of tall buildings is people jumping out windows. Since this building has sloping sides it was feared that jumpers would hit office windows on the way down, possibly crashing into an office. At the very least there would be a mess on the building. As a result, the designers put platforms so jumpers could avoid hitting the building's sides on the way down. After a few minutes of murmured surprise, I would tell the tourists that they were really elevator shafts. Yes, I'm wicked.
I wish is there observation deck transamerica pyramid on 48 floors
a rotating resturant was once up there
They limited the zoom to 12 times cause visitors were spying on sun bathers, they cut the part where visitors were zooming in on people taking dumps in the street.
you couldn't pay me enough to walk up those stairs and ladders.
You couldn't pay me to go to the lobby and visit the fake observation deck.
How about 1$ or a million and the average American 🇺🇸 is too fat to do that.
Notice the lights swinging around up there 2:18 freaky!
Wind?
They had to limit the cameras' zoom capabilities because "visitors were using them to spy on sunbathers at hotel pools" lol
Omg, we can't have that...
If you dont mind me asking, it has been so many years now since I last watched him on the news, but what was that anchorman's name at the very beginning of the video, I still remember him even after all these years since the late 90's.....
That was Pete Wilson. Sadly he passed away a while ago.
"spy on sunbathers"...😵💫
Wish he'd spend more time on the top office floor
i love it
Damn the 48th floor looks like shit right now 😂
My palms are drenched
Now the Salesforce Tower is the tallest by 200 feet. 😂
Not nearly as cool.
@@RollingOrmond it’s height is impressive though.
@@RollingOrmond and gotta love the way the sun reflects on some days
@@californiamade5608 the transam pyramid is more iconic
@@elchunky1697 sure. It’s 50 years old. The SFT is only 4 years old. But already, Salesforce takes the talk away from the pyramid
I want to install a jacuzzi at the top.
The salesforce tower should have had one by now 😔
