In this video, Berklee guitar instructor John Baboian teaches you about melodic embellishments on the guitar. You’ll learn about taking simple, standard melodies and interpreting them in a way that is unique to your own style of playing. He demonstrates techniques such as rhythmic anticipation and delays, chromatic and diatonic passing tones, all of which help to create interesting melodic variation.

John is the absolute best teacher and his calm demeanor might mislead you into thinking he isn't a world class performer, but the man is fantastic and can play like no other. He is incredibly kind and disarmingly proficient - he can do it all. If you are lucky enough to bet a student of his at Berklee, enjoy every second. There are truly not enough good things to say about him.

I really enjoyed John's video on melodic embellishment. I see these as tools to use when I am practicing the melodies of the different jazz standards I know, Now to the shed.
