- In this demonstration I run through a messy page in my sketchbook where I paint a messy watercolour painting and generate some new ideas in the process. I explain the colours I use and my starting point. This is not a step by step tutorial on creating the exact painting but more of a step by step on how you could approach a sketchbook page. I would love to hear how you get on and if you have any tips on how you approach your sketchbook.

Really interesting. I going to have a go.
Oh fantastic! Let me know how you get on.
Interesting and useful exploration! The peachy-orange color along with the 'hole' reminds me of the red rock formations seen in places such as Arches National Park and Zion National Park, both in Utah. The initial painting you showed has a desert feel to it. Perhaps you've seen photos of those places or even visited them.
Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I actually have been spending alot of time in Spain. Its much drier and less green than where I am from (the UK). Its in general made me interested in a more desert kind of landscape and recently I was also looking at a painter called Jo Bertini who paints New Mexico desert scenes (and others I believe too!)
@@annamabellaedgley Wow, thanks for turning me on to her work. I've taken a real fancy to some Aussie artists in recent months, including Joseph Zbukvic, Tony Smibert, Scott Swinson and Anastasia Mily. Now I can add Jo Bertini to my list!
Thank you! I only know about half of those so I am going to check out the ones I dont know 😊
What weight and type of paper sketchbook do you use😊
