  • Visiting Greece in the Autumn or Winter? this video is for you. What to do, Where to go and How to do it. (Also what you can't do)..
    Greece is popular with tourists in the summer, but it can be even better to visit and explore off season, in the Autumn and winter.
    The islands are closed outside the summer season, but so mush remains open and accessible, even more accessible as there are less people, crowds, the climate is more manageable and everything is Cheaper.
    Athens, the Acropolis and museums are all open, and half price. Explore Plaka, Ermou Street or Syntagma Square without the crowds of tourists, or oppressive summer heat.
    Fancy getting out of Athens? no problem, you can travel easily in the fantastic Peloponnese, visiting Nafplio, Kalamata, Spata, Epidaurus, Ancient Corinth or Olympia.
    If you wish to HIRE A CAR to Explore Greece I suggest you use a comparison site.
    Discovercars is 'Highly Rated' by customers and offer car rental deals in Greece and beyond from many companies and locations.
    They offer competitive rates, NO hidden costs, free cancellation and 24/7 customer service. Check them out using this link; www.discovercars.com/?a_aid=M...
    The weather may not be guaranteed, but it will likely be pretty good and the one thing that is constant all year round is the fantastic Greek food, people and culture.
    Thinking of Greece or Athens in December? January? or February?, my advice, just come and enjoy!

    Awesome channel with some very helpful information. I'm planning on visiting the mainland in October 2024.

    Thank you for this. A lot of travel advice on Greece assumes summer travel and that everybody's interested in swimming/lounging in the beach, ignoring travelers who're rather interested in cultural sights and gastronomy and don't care for the beach.

      I am so glad you enjoyed, and I also agree. I have a few videos on the cultural, ancient sites in Greece, but they do tend to do less well than the beaches!! It is a pity.

    The "winter season" for ferries is from 1 November till 31 March. Yes, there are less ferries and nearly no highspeed ferries. But even in winter there are daily ferries to the islands. Not to all of them but still to a lot.

    • @GreeceExplored
      @GreeceExplored  Před 7 měsíci

      Yes, but there is a significantly reduced timetable and virtually no ferries between islands, unlike the summer. the key I think is ferries between the islands - Santorini to Naxos or Crete for example.

    Great video again full of useful information! It's so true what you say - it's the Greek people and culture that make Greece so special!

      Thank you, and thank you for commenting, glad you enjoyed, It is amazing how many people assume the Islands etc are open all year round, but then I guess why would people think otherwise, and as you say, the Greek People and Culture are always welcoming.

    Brilliant video 👏🏻. We are looking to fly over in October as we are fascinated to see it out of season so this was very helpful. My parents want to purchase a place near Nafplio to live after just one holiday in May! The wonderful Greeks and beautiful Greece certainly have that impact. Keep up the great work.

      My wife and I moved to Nafplio 2 years ago and we love it. If you need any help with buying a property we can put you in touch with professionals such as realtor, lawyer and notary public. Cheers

    This was such a great video that we booked a trip for this February! Thank you for making it. We are doing what you suggested and focusing on Athens and the Peloponnese region. With Hydra being a larger island, do you think it is worth visiting it during our 10-day trip or should we stick to the mainland?

    • @GreeceExplored
      @GreeceExplored  Před 6 měsíci

      I am Glad you enjoyed. You will have a great time. Hydra has a very small population I am afraid, and in February this may only be 1000 people, I do not think there will be anything open. That said it is beautiful, but you will be much better off with Athens and the Peloponnese, Nafplio, Kalamata, and the ancient sites.

    Your videos are impressive and superbly edited, truly deserving more views. A constructive suggestion: your thumbnails could be more enticing. Ideally, your thumbnails should avoid using words. However, if you must, keep it to a bare minimum, like just a couple words. Remember, the right thumbnail can bridge the gap between hundreds and hundreds of thousands of views.

      Thank you, I am glad you enjoy my videos! I am definitely not a graphic designer, so I will look at what I can improve, I try to keep a design style through my thumbnails, and use the blue and yellow as I see these as 'summer colours' but appreciate your thoughts. Any more gratefully received!

    Hi . I am from India. What about early November. Is it good to visit Greece at that time of the year? And also let me how would be tge weather at that time

    • @GreeceExplored
      @GreeceExplored  Před 7 dny

      November is good, as long as you are interested in Athens and the mainland, Peloponnese, history etc. I would not go to the islands at this time, most will be basically closed. It is a great time to explore though, Athens, the Archaeological sites etc. they are half price in the winter, it is cooler and quieter, but Athens is fully open. The weather will be ok, maybe high teens as a temperature. there could be a little rain.
