    I was using the app that connects to my charge controller. I have a volt meter and will do some testing per your advice and update this comment. Thanks for taking my question.

    He said batteries are 6 months old, if I recall. People don't understand that they can TOAST their batteries in a very short time, if they run them down below 12.0 volts, no load voltage just a few times. I have "helped" people at dry camping events who were "killing" their batteries every night. Then doing some generator charging for an hour or so, without realizing that such short charging rarely fully recharges the battery bank.

    On that second question about the batteries draining in 6 minutes. I would first check to make sure they are topped off with water and go from there with the load test as you suggested.

    Hi Todd! Love your helpful Tech Tip Tuesdays! We're learning so much between your CZcams Channel at at Home Study Course! Another battery question: The Chassis and House Batteries have a "Battery Shut Off Switch". Does this switch prevent any drain on the battery when the coach is not in use? If this switch does not work, can you explain why? Thanks Todd! ~Carla from Colorado

    WATER HEATER my 2020 FR has a switch on the panel (not electrical panel) that says water heater. That's ONlY for propane. It helps heat faster using both. With that switch off the water heater just uses electricity. As long as the breaker and small switch on the heater itself is on.

    Quick question about AGM Batteries. What is the best way to store the batteries after using the RV? I have a 30amp plug on my house and connect my towable to it when it's parked. Is this fine or should I charge the batteries and disconnect from shore power and disconnect the batteries? Am I damaging the batteries leaving the RV plugged in all the time? I also have 500w of solar on the roof that chargers them as well.
    Thank you for the awesome vids and I'm NOT just here for the bloopers.

    Any time you switch out batteries if the amp hour is different you have to recalibrate your battery monitor.

    Love watching the show! What are your thoughts on upgrading an air conditioner? Mine is a 2016 Coleman, cleaned every year, and doesn’t keep up hardly at all. I want to install a Furrion 15000btu. Any thoughts? How much better do you think it might perform or am I doomed with only one AC?My RV is a keystone hideout 28bh, 1 slide, 30amps. Also is the add on heater worth the extra money and effort? Will be installing myself, any tips appreciated.

    Hey, Todd, love your videos. I noticed that real sneaky plug in battery you did. I have a 2020 Coachmen Beyond and am getting ready to install a lithium battery to replace the old one. Will any of your batteries in the 200 to 300 ah capacity fit where the old agm batteries I have underneath my Class B RV? BTW I think you are awesome!

    Todd, I really enjoy your videos. We recently purchased a new 2023 Newmar Bay Star 37 foot gas motor home. Do you think the suspension can significantly be upgraded using different components (springs, shocks, sway bars, steering enhancements, etc.) to greatly improve the ride / handling or should we just completely bite the bullet and go straight to a four corner Liquid Spring system with a Super Steer steering stabilizer? Thanks in advance for your reply,

    Hey todd thanks for the 2 min. Tech info. I have question for you. I have a 600watts solar panel OEM and I have 1 12v acid battery right now, my question is can I add another 12v battery without upgrading my solar panel? Another question, is it better if both battery will be new same time?

    • @madweazl
      @madweazl Před 2 měsíci +1

      You could add another battery in parallel (will keep you at 12v). You'd want both batteries to be in similar condition.

    In the case you have a lithium battery set along with the propper converter charger wfco8955Lis. How does it interact with a mppt solar charger controler? If the solar is sending current, is the converter going to complement it, or is it going to read the voltage from the solar and assume the battery is full? Therefore, not sending full amperage to the batteries?

    • @NationalRVTrainingAcademy
      @NationalRVTrainingAcademy  Před 2 měsíci +1

      So volts run downhill if there is no hill to travel down then there is no movement. If the battery is charged then the solar controller doesn't send flow to the battery if the charge controller is set to the same charge voltage.

    I am building out sprinter van with 15 kWh EcoFlow system. It seems the EcoFlow Achilles heel is that it can not accept higher amps from a higher amp aux alternator to help charge up lithium to capacity on long drive where you are drawing from bank to cover ac etc. too late to change from EcoFlow …… desire to boondock for 3-5 days. It’s been suggested I use a bank of total 48 volt AGM batteries between alternator and Lithium 48 volt battery bank. Will this work

    • @NationalRVTrainingAcademy
      @NationalRVTrainingAcademy  Před 2 měsíci +1

      So I met with Ecoflow engineers last year, excited about their product but I too had a few questions that I asked them to address. Hopefully soon they will.
      Typically we don’t like to mix voltages from different battery chemistries. You could with a dc-dc converter. But with all that it makes more sense to add solar panels if you can.

    • @vanjovi
      @vanjovi Před 2 měsíci

      Thanks I already am close to max with 450 watts on the roof. What’s too bad is that the EcoFlow system with the power kit is ahead of the others for installation and update ease…. You would think they would have figured this out. Glad you finally got through to EcoFlow I gave up… their customer service is terrible.

    • @vanjovi
      @vanjovi Před 2 měsíci

      BTW This is solution proposed by the van builder converting my van. Investment was already made in EcoFlow system. The answer is this will act as a capacitor between higher amp alternator and EcoFlow 15 kWh battery system to allow charging while driving long distances and stopping, and boondocking without plugging in THAN YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to answer, I am just checking around to make sure it’s at least safe. Whether it solves the problem remains to be seen.

    My son passed away and I bought a 27 ft travel trailer Bayliner and I've been having a lot of problems it's costing me a lot of money and I think I got jilted I made it cost me that much to buy it but I've been living in it in and out for the last almost 2 years since my son passed away I have him everywhere I still have all his stuff in this place has no storage I don't I want I want to go smaller actually but I don't know what to do with my sons belongings I'd rather have a drivable maybe 27 26-footer big lots of storage because I can't live where I'm at I need to go boondocks somewhere else not my friend of mine's house because I don't get along his wife . And basically I'm not wanted anywhere so I really want to get out of here it's a beautiful trailer when its clean it's beautiful but sometimes I bought it for my son and myself and he died so yeah it's it doesn't have enough storage for me but I will throw everything away if you were here just so he could be here can you give me any tips and my water heaterI don't know if my propane is hooked up to my water heater I filled my tank that's what I usually do every 3 days fill my reservoir tank or whatever it is and use the the generator but when we plugged into the city water everything was like squirting out like crazy and I guess it was just an old because it's a 2003 I don't know what to do I've already put brand new LED lights throughout the entire trailer..

      so it itr cant hold its charge then yes. again a dead cell or otherwise a bad battery will suffer a huge voltage drop when a load is put on it.

    I have never had hot water I have to go into my son's house to use water and I don't like to go in there because I don't get along with my daughter-in-law I love my grandkids I didn't want to be here they dragged me off and made me come and I had to buy this stupid trailer. I wouldn't have bought it unless my son was here I told him about some smaller to drag with my Durango and go where ever were I wanted to but I don't know how to run this trailer and I know I'm getting floods in my bathroom when I had to take off the public water. and I need that same size and the one.the one I bought was wrong. so now I got to take it back ..the smoke alarm is to big.. but I have water leakage in my bathroom.. I don't know much about this trailer.. even though I've read the book over and over I still don't understand it and it's killing me because I have a lot of money and buying parts and pieces and I know that I have a leakage underneath I've seen it and I have a leakage comes underneath where my tub is and I've seen that I'm getting mold on my walls I have my doors don't shut rite..
