Thank you for this. In many ways, I think the church has gotten comfortable and forgotten our great commission. If not, someone stepping out to serve people not in the fold wouldn't be a taboo. It's also interesting how we are more encouraging of people in other fields (i.e. finance, law, medicine, etc.) going into the world than we are of people in the creative space. It makes me rethink a lot of things.
The term Gospel music has really shot itself in the leg by limiting itself. As much as we celebrate those helping us to worship God in the temple, we also have the responsibility for the main agenda for Gospel music.... pushing God's message of redemption and salvation to the world...and those who are actively doing so are not even seen as Gospel artists but rebels.
You're making some very good points. There are some people who will never set foot in a church. They need to be able to meet God in other spaces. Some artists have been able to take gospel to the mainstream. I remember Mary Mary's 'shackles' blasting on prime time British radio and in clubs. Kanye West's 'Jesus walks' had a similar effect. Even in the past, Aretha Franklin also recorded a gospel album alongside the soul music she was renowned for. Louis Armstrong was one of the people who introduced me to African-American gospel.
Christian artists who are called to step out like this should move with boldness.

I started producing music in 2012 but I came off a steady piano player in church then but somehow I was so so fed up with gospel music because it was so monotonous and the world could detect it right from the sound without even saying anything so I resolved to do something not easily detectable. So it led me to produce for the world guys but they noted something.. "This guy is good but he is different" this was the comment of those guys we refer as "secular" because I don't see them that way. This year started producing my own music. And my music aim is Influencing culture and shaping human reasoning. I would love to feature in your talk because it resonantes with me alot....🎉 Thanks for this.

This is well said! We are such an obvious people. God is a strategist! The enlightened 5 fold ministry must begin to teach the needed consecration and provide support for sent creatives. We as God's children need to reach out to the ends of the earth
We seem to be less concerned about the souls out there and we even criticize those that are actually reaching out to the lost in the forest
And as much as the body needs to be edified the Kingdom also needs to expand while there are ministers that serve to keep the body edified
We are all working for the Kingdom
However, God is the rewarder, and as the bible says, the least among you will be the greatest, I believe that the least appreciated will be the most exalted.

This particular scripture God showed me has informed and solidified my conviction about where I was sent, and indeed the workings of God of salvation to all men everywhere.
"How can they believe unless they hear, and how can they hear unless there is a preacher, and how can there be a preacher unless someone is sent?"
This is the age where God wants to be audacious about the reach of his salvation which is in time for the imminent closing of the age. But if God must send you out you must be forged, consecrated, and anointed in church, and sent as a true apostle to the lost.

The moment we come back to the truth that there is only one agenda God has given to the church and it is to MAKE DISCIPLES of ALL NATIONS, we will begin to adjust a lot of what we are doing. We are SAVED & SENT! You cannot separate the two. We are NEW CREATURES and CHRIST AMBASSADORS (2 Corinthians 5:17-21) Both are two parts of our identity.
The scope of the work is outside of our gatherings and organized structures. The kingdom's work is to bring the culture of heaven into our world. We are meant to reconcile people back to God and the APEST gifts in Ephesians 4:11, 12 are meant to empower disciples of Christ to do it well.

What do you have to say to those who know they are meant for the Fields but haven’t broken out of the temple yet?
First is to follow God's leading. No one knows your formula like Him, and most times it won't look like He's giving you a formula or steps, He'll often just give you an instruction (which most times will not even look like it's connected/related to where you think you're going) but as you obey that, He gives another. Somehow the culmination of those steps in obedience will lead you to THAT expected end.
When the above primary step is on lock, you can then be securing/paying attention to secondary steps like associating with the kinds of Kingdom artistes who are playing in the arena you believe you are to play in as well.

You've made a lot of good points. But i think your recommendation to delineate the gospel as something that's meant exclusively for the world is not accurate. The church herself never outgrows the need of the gospel message.
Secondly, it's not the ability to blend a message into the recipient's context that guarantees the effectiveness of the gospel. So that's not a 💯.
I like the point that forest and field artist should be thoroughly discipled. I do that kind of music myself but play privately to my wife. It's a beautiful thing in the hands of a discipled and sent Christian. Welldone.
