  • Meridian is a city located in Ada County in the U.S. state of Idaho. As of the 2010 census, the population of Meridian was 75,092 making it then the third largest city in Idaho after Boise and Nampa. Meridian is considered the state's fastest-growing city and among the fastest-growing cities in the United States
    The town was established in 1891 on the Onweiler farm north of the present site and was called Hunter. Two years later an I.O.O.F. lodge was organized and called itself Meridian because it was located on the Boise Meridian and the town was renamed. The Settlers' Irrigation Ditch, 1892, changed the arid region into a productive farming community which was incorporated in 1902.
    Meridian was incorporated in 1903. The information in the following sections (Irrigation, Village, Rail Transportation, and Creamery) is found on the displays in the Meridian City Hall Plaza.

    The tour is nice. I like Meridian but prefer living out in the countryside rather than city limits. 👍😊

      That's what is so cool about the area is that you can be in the countryside and within 20 mins drive you can be in the heart of the city

      @JETZcorp Před 2 lety

      So it'd be downtown and then straight to farms and desert? Sounds like a great place for "someone else" to live; I wouldn't want to go anywhere near that. The lack of living space would drive me crazy.

    • @awsomemodels
      @awsomemodels Před 2 lety +1

      @@JETZcorp It's a double edged sword , the cities would be a lot more walkable and more unique looking , but the problem is that the cities get more dense and if the population explodes the city would be seriously crowded compared to regular spread out us cities .

    • @JETZcorp
      @JETZcorp Před 2 lety +1

      @@awsomemodels Frankly, I don't care if a city is walkable, I prefer it to be drivable. At a certain point a city needs to become walkable and transit oriented to achieve density, but that's the point when I want to leave for somewhere more spacious. It's totally okay for both to exist, it just gets to be a problem when each side takes their preference as religion and tries to wipe out the non-believers. Leads to some weird urban planning when 2 sides pull the city back and forth. Most of the big West Coast cities are examples of that. Really really poor implementations of a density transition. I'm from Portland and this place has been completely ruined (which is why I'm looking at Boise suburbs).

    Meridian is nice, but its too heavily crowded with rude southern Californians moving up here and taking over meridian and boise. I like caldwell, not crowded, and there's no grumpy city people
