The bit about perfectionism is about THE most relatable thing I’ve ever heard in my life, my room is a mess and it’s gotten that way from my mental health, believe me I WISH my room was clean and it stresses me out so much when it’s not, but I simply cannot bring myself to this large a task at hand. And it’s because I know that when I start something I physically cannot stop until it’s done and it’s done to a level that I am happy with (basically it has to be perfect) and I already know that it will take me HOURS to get it to a level that I’m happy with so I end up just not doing it at all because I can’t comprehend it. And this doesn’t just apply to cleaning my room. I will admit that I’m single-handedly the most last person in my house, my parents ask me to do the washing up and I never do it because I know that i can’t JUST do the washing up, I also have to re organise all the draws and cupboards, clean every surface and mop the floor or I won’t be satisfied. It’s as if i can’t let anyone see something that’s not great when I’m apart of it. This is years of wanting people to think the best of me and not wanting to be seen as anything less then perfect and it’s a major problem. My entire life is a mess.

So relatable! This expectation of perfection led to avoidant coping mechanisms for me, and it sounds like a experience y’all have too. Telling myself “just clean for 5 minutes, and reassess how you feel about it after” helps to knock down the toxic “I’m half-a$$ing it if I don’t finish the task” mentality. And sometimes after the 5 minutes, it feels more manageable and I can actually get it done in one go. I’m just starting this journey, but wish you all well on yours 💕💕💕 We got this!
This was so much fun to watch! I’ve been trying to glow up my life too for 2022, my sleep schedule was absolutely horrible going to bed at 3 am every night and waking up at noon. But this week I’ve been trying harder and now I’m going to bed by 9:30 pm and waking up by 7:30 am and I feel much more productive.

The Glowup Project is back in full swing and she did NOT disappoint! I love the idea of changing out the pictures on the corkboard with pictures of the changes you've made. A great way to stay motivated and prove that you're capable of change!
Girl these episodes are immaculate! Edited with such creativity and skill- it’s so refreshing to see something so unique like this! My face effect is when you do the camera shutter effect with loads of diff photos like at 2:35- also this one made me laugh at some points- we love humour x

I'm taking a mental health day today and my room being a mess was absolutely one of the contributing factors - this is amazing. The whole perfectionist thing got to me because it's the same situation I'm in at the moment.
there’s literally no way you’ll ever see this. but here goes nothing. a couple months ago i found your channel and i saw a lot of your diys and make clothes with me videos. those were so cool to watch so i dove deeper into your channel. when i saw all your vlogs and other interior design videos, something clicked instantly. i was so hooked and i watched almost every video. you’ve given me so much inspiration and this episode is so incredibly up lifting. it’s so relieving to see that there are other famous people who have the same mindset as me. when you described how you felt as a perfectionist it literally made me so happy that other people felt how i felt and i wasn’t alone. what you do is so amazing and you have helped me through so much. now i’m going to stay up all night and clean my room 😅 but other than that you’ve inspired me to become and interior designer and start to take myself accountable for my messes. what you do and your entire platform is so amazing. i love what you do jen thank you

Ikr like cleaning your room is so much I get you. It's finding motivation and needing the EXACT right things like containers to organize perfectly so your not bothered. Also wanting to find the right things when you need them. Not to mention wanting to redecorate but have to find motivation to make the decorations you want. And all that is time and money consuming when we'd rather just chill, watch Netflix, while eating snacks.😌

I just read a girl on twitter saying that when she gets home puts a 10 min timer and starts tidying up whatever she sees day by day and I think it's a good idea to keep things a little more cluttered. loving the series btw! love hearing your honest thoughts. i feel like while other productivity / cleaning / getting-their-life-together videos don't glaze over the imperfections, yours does a better job of communicating that. not really sure if that makes sense, i'm having trouble articulating but anyways... feeling a little more inspired to clean up my aisles as well.

I swear you're my spirit animal. I've watched all your DIY room organization and cleaning videos ever since you started making them many many years ago. And while a lot of other content creators have useful hacks and ways to keep one's room organized, yours is the most comforting. I like that you're honest with your habits of why you don't clean as often or why you procrastinate on cleaning your room. I have the same problem where I clean my room and then somewhere down the line it'll get messy again. And so maybe after this I'll create better habits for myself and hopefully maintain the cleanliness of my room for more than a year :)
One of the best organization tip that I learned was to clean you room every day even if it’s just for 10 minutes, you can hear music, or listen to a podcast while doing it.
10 minutes is a lot of time to clean your room for example, taking dirty clothes and putting it in the laundry basket doesn’t take long, or putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher, but it makes the room so much more organized and clean
From my experience as a perfectionist, my room used to be super messy and I always wanted it to look perfect but over time I learned that keeping your room clean is a habit that you don't get overnight. Little by little you learn how to keep things tidy and let me tell you it takes a loooong time to change something you've been doing your whole life. On the bright side, a slow process will give you long-term results and even if your room gets a bit messy again you will easily know how to handle it and cleaning will become second nature to you. Btw this should be a Netflix series, it is so well put together

i have a tip to cleaning ur room/ keeping it clean. after you deep clean ur room take aesthetic/clean pictures of it so when ur room starts to get dirty u go back to those pictures and see and remember how good it felt to have a clean room. then go clean it. this has helped me a lot as a messy person myself. loved the video keep up the hard work!!! also it’s my birthday today so this was a great inspirational video/ gift!!❤️

This is why I have an *organised* mess lol. It’s not particularly empty or whatever, there is stuff in every corner and some people have told me it is “cluttered” but I like it that way. I have space to move and do stuff and I can remember where everything is. Someone “cleaned” my room for me and I couldn’t find shit for monthssssss. I always change the way it’s organised for my sanity but it is still tidy. This has motivated me to reorganise my room again because I have been too tired for it

Omg, I'm crying even though I heard clean up on aisle 4 before watching this but this whole video and the context just reminded me of times where my head wasn't in the right place for a long time and I cleaned up everything to make myself feel better and it did get better and this song is so accurate about the feelings of the whole experience.....idk if it makes sense or if other people do this too .. When I was a junior and high-school my English teacher would refer to my desk as "creative chaos" when I would work( he meant it as a compliment lol). Honestly I think a good compromise is having your immediate area as a "disaster" while working(creative/ studying), but intentionally tiding up when finished. I've always let ppl know I'm messy not dirty lol
