Shopping for a RTT has been the hardest decision so far. Every company has their own unique features, but I think iKamper takes the reign.
@TacoMan D totally agree! I was between the ikamper skycamp mini & Desert Armor warrior. Have a taco as well and was looking for bed mounted options. Now that these 3.0 ikamper versions are coming out it’s pretty clear who’s superior but DA’s price and features still gives Ikamper tough competition.
Sold my ikamper a couple months after buying because the brown tent material made it seem red inside and drove me nuts. Also they had changed window covers so was no longer a blackout type tent. Glad to see they are changing to black/gray material and adding new products. Ordered the Disco as seems to be a complete cooking system.
iKamper level up. Pleasantly surprised at how innovative they are being given that this is a niche industry. Looks like they are expanding beyond the over landing market.
I am liking disco kitchen system! Might need to upgrade my clamshell tent for theirs. I have always like their quality in the skycamp.
If people were asking what the point of the annex is, another point to the annex room is that if you're camping in cold you can run a diesel heater or buddy heater down there and have a place to change in the morning, or just even dissipate the heat a bit more because a lot of those heaters put out so much heat that just heating your tent might make it too hot. Especially if you have a dog they could stay warm in the annex. Thats why if I go with the iKamper I would get the annex for sure.

Can't wait to hear more about that wedge tent, looks promising. FINALLY a new color option! I've always been interested in an iKamper tent, but couldn't bring myself to put that ugly brown and red color on my vehicle haha.

I’ve honestly watched this video over 50 times! 😆 I’m obsessed with these tents and annex room! Can’t wait to get one! Hope they announce when they will start taking orders soon!
Looks great wish I was there. I think you need a light on your camera for when you get into those dark situation it was kind of difficult to say sometimes. The idea of a foldout kitchen is nice however it looks way too low to me you’d be cooking stooped over the entire time or cooking on your knees doesn’t seem very practical to me. I want to buy and I camp mini from my truck and I was waiting to see the next model to come out from the 2.02 to 3.0 kind of disappointed I’ve sent him several emails of what I would love to see on the next model. The new latches is nice that’s great thanks, I like the improved the mattress who wouldn’t like that I like that they have a new Air mattress but you have to air it up with a compressor now I have an outboard compressor for doing my tires however you can get self inflating air mattresses now I don’t know why they didn’t go with that. Some of the modifications I would’ve loved to seen on the sky camp mini would of been the option to put a solar panel on the shell. I would’ve also love them to see them make the shell a little higher so we had some more depth to it so you could leave your bedding inside that is my biggest disappointment the fact you’re taking your bedding in an out all the time it’s just a pain in the ass. It would’ve only had to make it a couple of inches higher your pillows and bedding could be left inside. I would’ve liked to seen them putting down some sort of condensation mat. In my 2.0 I got some of those adhesive carpeted floor tiles from Home Depot which helps get rid of the condensation and insulate that floor a little bit. I do like The look plow disc cooker. I like the little table I love the fact they can fasten it to a larger propane tank it is really good you can hang over the fire. I realize what you say about the enamel coating making it easier to clean however I still prefer cast iron sure it takes a little bit of work keeping it seasoned however it is still the best even heat distributing cooking service available to cooks and if you’re someone who likes to cook you appreciate this. As for your review on the awning you mentioned that there are no awnings out there with good welds . My friend has a gullwing awning from the bush company l am saving up my pennies to buy one . Has no legs at all , in high wind you just tie it down with the guy rope you can even fasten side walls onto it the roof has a reflective surface which makes underneath the awning 10° cooler on those hot days. The welds are absolutely high-quality you can even hang out of the rails there is even a guy on CZcams standing on the roof of it. So you mustn’t have scene this one I have been looking at a great many awnings and from what I can see it is the absolute best out there. I do not like the awning encased in the other box . Have to say it looks real nice and sharp however I would prefer a high grade ripstop canvas and here’s why , if you put away the awning into the box and it’s wet it would take an extremely long time to dry and will be immensely susceptible to mould. With the ripstop canvas as you drive down the highway The fresh air rushes through the Canvas and dries it out stopping it from getting mouldy and smelly. This won’t happen when you put it inside an aluminum box. PS God I really wish they had made the sky camp mini 3.0 just a little deeper so you could leave the bedding inside. Sorry my comments are not the most positive, but I know what I want I just wish you had of been closer to what I was looking for.
I wish they would make a single person that doubles the footprint so it opens up similar to the soft shell tent. That way it's small enough to put on a Tacoma roof without a bed rack.
The Skycamp Mini's footprint is small enough to fit on the roof of a Tacoma :)

It is possible if you shove it all in the very back corner. It took us a few times to figure it out but now we keep the iKamper insulation and 2 sleeping bags in there.

Hey mate great video, what is the brand of the roof racks that the tents are mounted to on the Rav and Tacoma? I’m looking at getting an ikamper but need to change my roof rack to suit and those racks look sick.

I just bought my first wedge tent from 23zero and was wondering if you guys are mounting them so close to the cab for flexing reasons. I kept mine about an inch off of my prinsu rack to allow my truck to flex
Yeah we have it one inch above the roof rack as well for the same reason

Do you know if these are all of their new models? I was hoping they would come out with the skycamp with cross bar attachments on top so you can store stuff on top of the tent like they are showing on the new wedge tent.
Yeah these are all of them. The Skycamp doesn’t have an aluminum shell to do that. It would break if that were a thing
Hey there, just watched your video … I bought a Skycamp 2.0 last year (2021) in August and we really like it but I am still looking out for a roof rack that fits to our VW T6 Multivan. The roof racks that I could see in the video looked really nice and they would fit pretty well to our van. Do you know from which company they are? Perhaps I can find them here in Europe as well. Thanks a lot for your help.
The racks are made by upTOP Overland and I believe they have dealers in Erurope
