I thought she would've been good in the Aretha Franklin movie but Jennifer was picked by the Queen 👑.
Taraji's commentary was touching and well rooted. She is so in touch with her inner being. Beautiful actress physically and emotionally.
Halle being new it's great to hear her. She has to be very talented and she's so pretty. She looks like a real life doll.
Great to hear of God and their appreciation to God.
Taraji P. Henson is such a remarkable person. She has a pure heart and she is always willing to help others. She is always an inspiration to others and she works hard to make her dreams come true. She is truly a role model. I love the way she holds the sisterhood down. She is such a strong, independent, and courageous woman. She is a great example of how to never give up and to keep going no matter what obstacle is in the way. She is an inspiration to many. For instance, she recently opened her own production company, TPH Entertainment, to give women of color an opportunity to share their stories and to be represented in the entertainment industry.
Corey Hawkins has me in tears right now. So this project was very cathartic for him and his father!? That's amazing ❤

Thank God for Alice Walker and her words. My 31 year old Daughter has yet to see the original movie. I have encourage her to read the book first, then watch the 1985-86 movie after which she and I will see the new movie together hopefully along with my Husband and Son. In 1985-86 I was in graduate school and having a hard time of it. But seeing " The Color Purple" and listening to Whitney Huston sing " The Greatest Love of All" changed my life. I decided that I had to define who I was and determine my own destiny. Spiritual growth is the hardest challenge that we will face but it means that we must surrender our lives to God's will and learn to live in that will. Our purpose is to win souls to Christ and we cannot do that if we don't let God live inside of us. Thanks to all of you. May you continue to let God bless your life and let His light shine through each of you.
I saw this movie in a private screening and it is everything that they say it is. Very healing and touching.

I think I can listen to Colman Domingo talk all day ❤ Can't wait to see his portrayal of Mister. I know most ppl give that character grief. However, I grew to have a soft place for him.

I feel like this version is going to humanized the character Mister.

This was a very emotional & honest interview. I couldn't stop crying. I can't wait to see this movie. I did get a chance to see The stage play version with Fantasia. Fantasia & the play was AMAZING!!!
Oh Fantasia's voice changed. I was so used to hearing the "baby" voice. Anyhoo, loved how she explained her connection with Celie. Recently watched the original film. For some reason, I focused alot on Miss Celie. Then, I understood how she suffered in silence for years.

Does anyone realize how prophetic this is? Oprah acted in this in 1985, with a character named Harpo! She eventually got her own studio, and it's called Harpo!! Additionally, here she is in 2023, as one of the Producers. Divine Guidance for sure!

The book, the movie profoundly affected me. My life has been full. Never dreamed that I would travel and live in Africa and find myself helping women that are forgotten. Never dreamed I'd marry a Ghanaian. I remember being in Malawi and seeing the dugout boats thinking that our ancestors were taken from this continent. The little school girls in 2006 asking me to ask Miss Winfrey to get them beds. I currently do missions of mercy to Africa.
