This brings back memories from my childhood. My grand dad had his garden plowed by mules. They were healthy and dark brown/black like this team. Thanks for showing an old Tennessee boy that people still use mules today.
My 3xGreat Grandfather, Nathan Waters, was a farmer in Woodbury and the surrounding areas. On the 1870 census, it was stated his possessions included his house and mules! It's cool to know the traditions are alive and well. Thanks!
Yeah my uncle ryley up on the vir tenn border had mules we would ride stright up steep as hell hills in carters valley it was all we could do to hang on we was just like 10 yrs old and them mules was the biggest animal ive ever tangled with but they never once hurt 1 of us kids because they were so sure footed and powerful and seems like looking out for us we rode all day they drank 1 time through mountain ridges and paths long forgotton now im old and still remember that figured id share that
Watching this makes me realize how fortunate we these days. Sitting here at a computer screen, I can only imagine what it must have been like to sow, plant, and gather even before the mule-and-plow. But I'm cool with just imagining 'cause farm and field work ain't no freekn joke...
It was a meaningful life full of lessons taught by nature and God, fulfilling and satisfying. What we have now is a wisp and vapor of life devoid of any purpose. We rely on corporations for everything and are basically just economic units to be manipulated. It's bad
