- Basics to get you burble tuning on Megasquirt. If you like flames, bangs, and snaps out the exhaust on your Megasquirt / Speeduino project you need to watch this
Here is my setup
Megasquirt: amzn.to/3FX5rIg
Wideband: amzn.to/3xH3ltf
Intercooler: amzn.to/3xJAnJs
LS Coils: amzn.to/3rr1SGq
Turbo: amzn.to/32Pkt4P
Injectors:amzn.to/3d5UZlG
Fuel Pump: amzn.to/3ruzfZ7
"if you want to enhance the effects of this, you're putting unburnt fuel into the exhaust" me: YES, im listening
Thanks for the educational vid. A lot more clear information coming from this than most vids out there.
Thanks 👍 that's why I made them because I couldn't find anything about the subject that is easy to understand
i agree
Yo man, Thank you for this, legit nowhere has something this simple unlike your video, thank you
You're welcome! Glad I can share the knowledge
I have -20 degrees, helluva Bang! 💥
😎😎😎🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the tutorial! im out spittin flames in my turbo car!
I'm always about these things being foolish and unnecessary.
But after I drop my rant I assign a toggle switch to a secondary ignition map for shits 'n giggles.
Imagine hacking this up without something like megasquirt. This is so easy to pop in and revert.
How would you assign a toggle switch to something like this? I have a 2018 Honda Civic and would like to do this however I've been looking for a way to toggle it and can't find anything on it anywhere
The only thing id say to watch is on the ign table you only go down to 20kpa and there are situations when im cruzing on the hw and i could be at 19/20/21 kpa sometimes. You deff dont want to be at 0 timing when you actually trying to drive. Your ve table goes to 15kpa so your good on that one just for people watching it might be help full to re-bin your tables so this is only happening when your trying to make it happen.
You are a legend for this 🔥 any chance you could mess around with idle setting to make it sound more agresssive?
Have you found a way yet? Is it actually possible to have antilag even on idle?
Bro thanks for this video… greatly explained and appreciated!!
For mine it will be nothing for maybe 2000-3000 rpms and then a huge back fire no mater what the timing is, how to I make the pops more balanced?
Try changing the amount of fuel in that rpm range. Less fuel and less ignition advance should calm down the bangs in that area of the map
Thank you for this super helpful I got my Subaru legacy to pop and bang
I'm glad it was helpful! Keep crackelin 👍
Finally the video I’ve been looking for. Just a quick question. My Mercedes M276 tt v6 is in other vehicles with the burble tune, and I’m just wondering if you know if it can be linked with different drive modes, or in a general case, if this can be programmed for each drive mode you’re in regardless of vehicle.
This is a very good on tuning, I have k tuner for my Acura & have tried to get it burble & pop but I cannot get it to do so , I have a resonator & muffler delete but a Flowmaster delta race in my mid so I know I can get it to do it I just have to try this. Thx
Work or no?
@@mehzly1429 No
Would a subtle sorta burble like this be damaging to your cats?, im looking to do something nice and not too extreme like your local Golf R's
What's the difference in programming for low level longer burble compared to aggressive backfire like single pops?
More ignition retard and more fuel make it more aggressive
What if you change something and F up can you click on something to reset the table? Just asking just in case😊
Control + Z
I know this a somewhat old video, would this same concept work on a NA 1.6? obviously wouldn’t shoot massive flames but just for some nice cracks and pops ?
Yes same concept for all engines
I love learning about this. It's so interesting. To tune a car do you need to get a new ECU?
For this software you need a megasquirt ECU
Maybe this will help me figure out why my Microsquirt goldwing pops like crazy on decel. I’ll try reverse engineering. It’s driving me nuts. Sounds like New Year’s Eve in Phoenix.
My car was popping alot on decel too which is not what usually happens so I knew something was off. Turned out to be an issue with the connector that plugs on to one of my coil packs
You'll get terrible fuel economy but you'll chuck serious flames for your mates 🤣
Wich softuer you use ?
Tuner studio
@@TurbineResearch reading device ?
Can I modify these values in SCT tuner x4 to get the pops and bangs?
so like how do I keep the burble but no flames cause I like my cats
whats the proagram your using called?
Tuner studio for megasquirt ECUs
Would you think it would be a good idea to do the same thing on my 125cc bike ?
If you want to why not
i have few questions... so you can do this burble tune on cars with turbos and cars without turbo or just cars with turbos or without turbo. and when you want to get rid of your burble tune you just put the numbers before burble tune? am i right. thanks!!!
It can work on any IC engine essentially
Thank you for this valuable information, but can you attach a link to download the mod?
Hello there, what software i can use to do this on my car? I am reading and writting maps via Kess V2 master, and using Ecm titanium but for Fiat punto i cant make pops on ecm. What software are u using?
So I tried the simplest settings as you did and it seems nothing is changed besides the map it self, works when I run in fuel run cut as I lightly touch the throttle. Fuel run cut off, nothing happens, does the EGO controller settings have anything to do with it?
It's hard to say because every tune is different but if you have overun fuel cut off and ego correction is on the ecu might be trying to pull fuel where you want it to crackel under deceleration.
@@TurbineResearchupdate: I left my ego settings as is and leaned out the bottom column VE table. Got the pops! NA engine
@@oscarscott8353 awesome man! 😎
@@oscarscott8353 how much did you lean it out? What are your numbers looking like.. somebody was telling me if you lean out the table you’ll get more pops. But in this video here he says to add fuel... I already get some crackles but i want some serious bangs.
@@Klenoce you ever get it figured out?
What all would be needed to tune my vehicles ecu? I know that some vehicles need a completely different ecu to tune, but what else? (Programmer, tuning app...?)
This video covers megasquirt products (a stand alone ECU) every brand , make and software is different so it depends on what you have
Hi. Very nice video. I have a 2002 Ford f150 5.4 supercharged harley davidson and i wont make some pops and bangs but in Portugal i dont have any tuner to make that. ( only exist one truck like this in Portugal). Where can i find a program and acessories to make this? Thanks for your help.
I don't have any experience with the Ford lighting tuning. You will need to find a specialist that can tune older Ford ecus
How far you can push this? What are the bad symptoms you should be looking for to prevent damage?
Every car and situation are different its difficult to say what would happen to any given vehicle and for how long
I've got an MS3 on my 4.6 2v, but I can't get any pops out of it. I followed your instructions and had my buddy drive the car to test my cutoff area. I watched it inject extra fuel via my laptop, and I saw my timing go as low as -15, couldn't get a single one lol. I have aftermarket cats that are set pretty far back, but maybe they are still the problem? AFR went down to 10:1 on decel, spiked my lambda sensor. 19lb/hr injectors on 11% duty on decel, with -15 ign timing.
Fixed by adding idle valve duty cycle and leaning out burble areas. Saw best results around 14-16 afr.
Got my burbles now 🤣.
I'm about to order the ms3 for my 96 gt with an 01 Bullitt complete motor. I've been driving on a sct tune for the npi engine because the ecm refuses to tune. Easy setup? Are you learning tuning with it or have previous experience?
@@sategllib2191 learning with it, wasn't super easy at first since the fuel map they supplied for idle and cruising we're not working for my car. Had to redo the whole tune from scratch. Installation/setup was very easy though.
Looking to tune my car with HPtuners, so using this to learn more about tuning! Any advice would be great! Thanks
HPtuners is a very different experience from tuning a stand alone ECU. It's a lot more complicated and you spend most of your time tricking the factory ecu into letting you so what you want it to do. It's not my specialty but there some classes you can take on it and other videos to research.
What if I want to hear crack, only when changing gear at high rpm rev cut? What's the simplest way to do this?
Set the rev limiter to "spark cut only" and set timing to 0 deg on the rev limiter. That will make a strong pop between shifts.
I was about to say you needed to check out flat shifting but it seems ol sean already sorted you out. :p
@@TurbineResearch now how could we get the snap when you're shifting say anywhere from 4k to redline without smacking your rev limiter? I haven't figured that one out yet
are these tables for an m20b25? curious to see whether I should compare your ignition table to my turbo m20b25's
Yes it’s from an m20
Hey man great vid, would this work on accesstuner for my sti? Im not sure if its different or not, but i was also wondering if you would be able to assist me as i have a few more questions about doing this to my car! Pleass let me know, thank you!!
In the back of the Cobb manual it says if you are spitting flames with their software then you have a issue. Open source is your best bet.
Guys.. experiment VW Polo 4 9N3 1.2L 40KW 3 Cylinder NA engine with a very slight crackle above 2000rpm is haaaappeniiiiing 😂😂😂.
Can you do this on a stock ECU?
Yes but you need specific software to work with the stock ECU
How about doing this with ECUflash for Subaru? Any tips or settings you would like to share? Seems pretty straight forward. Its just that Stock ECU tuning has more than just one main ignition table....
I don't have any experience with stock ECU flashing :(
Subaru? Cobb
@@ravenbutler9171 Open source. I am and have been boycotting Cobb since the Green Speed compliant switch over.
Hi is this safe for twincharged engines?
can i do it even if i have catalytic converter or should i remove it, but in my country it makes car illegal on street
You can but it's not good for the catalytic converter
I need a 16 pin cable. Where can I find it? I don’t want to buy a cable that’s not it. Can you help me? Thank you
Check diyautotune.com
How do I get onto this page on my laptop
This is tuner studio software specifically for megasquirt ECUs
@@TurbineResearch so the program won't work on a standard ecu that's not megasquirt
what cable do you use for connecting ecu to computer? thanks for your reply, idk if any obd2 cable will work
www.amazon.com/dp/B0007T27H8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_R6R47X8TDEWKV3QFBQ55 my car is a megasquirt ECU and megasquirt uses serial communication.
Does it work for OBD2 or just OBD1. Because i bought tunerstudio but couldn't connect it cause it doesn't support OBD2
Tuner studio is only for megasquirt stand alone ECUs , it has no capabilities to flash stock computers.
this is getting me way too exited
It's pretty awesome 😎
Now how big are the odds im doing this to an n/a 8v beater Volvo and you are talking about doing it to one😂😳
It was meant to be 🔥
Did u pay for a standalone ecu or does it work with any ecu u just need the efi Bluetooth obd2 or can u use any obd2
I have a megasquirt standalone ecu but the concept works on all ECUs
gotta check out one of my videos. old big block throws fireballs on the button
Hi there. What kind of fuel were u running with that spark table
91 octane
It's better to use the overrun timing pull
Oh Yeah? How so?
can i use megasquirt for mitsubishi lancer?
Yes
Name of the program ?
Tuner studio specifically for megasquirt ECUs
@@TurbineResearch where i can get that ?
I did this to my turbo Miata nothing happened does the car have to be real hot
Try data logging and watch the overall ignition advance in deceleration
@@TurbineResearch ya I’ll have to try that but I’ll have to wait now beoke a vband clamp now waiting on new one
do yall think i could do that on a golf 41.6sr i removed the kat

what is the name of the program?
Tuner Studio
I tried this and got zero results... what am I doing wrong
Try adding more fuel in the deceleration and make sure your overrun fuel cut is disabled
@@TurbineResearch I did ... I added an excessive amount... and still no results
Can it cause any damage to engine?
it can yes, but not immediate. over time it has the possibility of causing damage if you go crazy with the pops and bangs
@@andrewpowers111not really, it only damages cat. I mean I’m talking about normal pops and bangs, if u go as far as shooting flames and shit then yea it can probably damage the engine
@@RegardedBee185 those pops are causes my combustion happening while the exhaust valve is open, Ive been tuning cars for a while and all the pop and bang buys eventually burn out the exhaust valves. It takes a while but it’s the same failure point every singe time. If they are VERY mild and not aggresive you can get away with it so long as you inject extra fuel and run it rich as hell to help cool the valves, but anything like what all these 335i and dodge “hoodcats” run are cooking the motors slowly but surely, UNLESS it’s tuned in such to prevent overheating of the exhaust valve
@@RegardedBee185 it’s hard on the motor but I still run it on my car though 🤣
