I really really like your craftsmanship and end result. Also, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us, the non-pros. If I finally take the decision to dive in I'll let you know.
Grigorii Oganyan Hi it’s rub off leather hide and you use rub off and seal solution. I got mine from buffalo trade products Uk Thanks for watching John.
I tried to learn this but not one person I talked to was willing to teach me. I went to school bought a walking foot and was willing to work for almost nothing. Couldn't get a hand up??
Another great job you done and what is the leather called that allows you to use rub off called. And also what thickness foams are used ,is there a thick foam then a thin foam. When making a diamond shape how do you know its not to close is there a certain gap for each thickness foam used many thanks chris i
Hi the leather is Rub off hide it’s comes in various colours. The thickness of foam is all up to the look you’re after the thicker the foam the deeper the buttons. Diamond shapes as a good rule are 2” difference as in 2” wide 4” up and down or 6 “ wide 8” up and down. It’s a case of measure and see which fits the best. Hope this helps thanks for watching John.
Not without re-upholstery, you may be able to undo it all then replace the foam or add padding, but it is a risk ! You may damage leather trying to do so.John
Don’t think it needed a re upholster with new leather a good clean sand smooth fine filler and repaint and condition would have got identical finish and the old leather would have been retained. Only my view but your skills are impeccable
