When Evinrude came out with the direct injected two stroke outboard in the 90s they were so unreliable they actually had to buy them back from the customers.
here's and update on my 2015 250 hp evinrude G2, I'm on my 4th lower unit and have only 49 hrs on the 521c ranger, also had vst replace, crack coil pack and steering actuator there one another thing i remember what it called

Just brought this 2015 Ranger Evinrude G2 250 less than 20 hours and i'm having problems with the lower end. Looks like no fishing for me this weekend. Drop boat off tues and they won"t be able to get part till next week BS... not Happy The customer service they get 0 stars for me wishing i went with the mercury Pro xs.
That design looks so silly. Must be a pain in the butt to work on that engine. I was considering buying twin 150/200hp G2's for a dive boat but from a few reports I have read these these engines are not suitable for commercial use.
Join the club Dennis. 2015 Ranger. Under 1,200 rpms she's just a pig with lipstick. Misses, stalls, kills...error code 115. Stops abruptly at all speeds and slams you into the windsheild, thows you on the floor or damn near tosses you overboard. Can't even take the grandkids for a ride. Back at the dealer for the 3rd time in 6 weeks. The pressure is on for them. Minnesota lemon law is going to bite them in the arsh if they don't get it right this time. Evinrude has another Ficht on their hands. Hmmm...think I'll go with Mercury too.
+kcolmeh62 We had to return to the dealer 5 times before we saw any improvement. Ran good for a month then stopped abruptly on September 28th. It was turning 4,500 rpm when it slammed us. Couldn't get it back to the dealer in before heading south for the winter.

Nice engine but almost 10 grand more than a 250 Suzuki 4 stroke, stopped me dead in my tracks
These are absolute junk! Now finally GONE FOREVER!!
