Brickwork Pattieâs awesome. Great video I watched it twice thanks mate
Thanks mate Iâm glad you enjoyed it! Iâve got a Diamond pattern video up as well that you might enjoy!
Great video and awesome board! Lovely colours. I believe the correct term for the type/style of brick work is call Brick Bond.
Thanks mate! I didnât know that, appreciate the heads up! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Bloody nice looking. Board mate well done
Thanks Ray!
Brickwork, great board, you are a natural teacher my friend, very clear precise explanations about what you are doing. I notice some of your tools are not high end but the end product is, that says heaps about your ability. Nice to see a local lad do good. Cheers from Gooseberry Hill
Thanks Darryl! I do my best to try and get any information across as simply and straight forward as I can!
Brickwork*** well done mate, great work as always

Thanks mate Iâm glad you enjoyed it!
Brickwork is sick dude. Nice work
Thanks Neil!
Brickwork đ, I just recently done my first brickwall endgrain cutting board, it was a bit of a challenge but I'm proud of myself with what I have achieved looks amazing, well done mate on your achievement have subscribed to your videos, the board I created I used tassie oak for the bricks and jarrah for the mortar. Keep up the good work cheers
Sounds like a great combo mate! Well done on your board! Cheers for the sub đ€
Brickwork chopping boards look great, I'm still yet to even make a simple cutting board myself though. Good tip on the half brick design, saves a chunk of waste.
Thanks man! You should give it a crack theyâre good fun!
Brickwork makes the tip work!
Looks rad brother!
đđ thanks dude!
Brickwork, I am thinking about making a end grain C board, thanks for the video
Goodluck with the build mate!
Nice!
Cheers mate!
Brickwork. I will try to make one. Looks good đ. I am from the UK đŹđ§.
Thanks man! Youâve got some great timber over there Iâm sure youâll be able to make a wicked one!
Brickwork looks awesome man. Might have to give one of these a go over the holidays. I personally donât know much about bandsaws and their blades but I wouldnât use the blade again better safe than sorry I recon.
Thanks man! Yeah I ended up throwing it out, didnât wanna risk it
Love the intro mate, 80 videos and you finally introduced your self. đ
Jax you make great content. đ
Thanks mate, appreciate your support!
Loved watching your video mate. I make Brick Wall cutting boards. I am using Iron Bark and Tassie oak for mine. They look great.
Iron bark must be full on to work with hey? Havenât tried it out myself yet.
@@JNDCreations Yes mate it is bloody hard but comes out great
"Brickwork" No comments big guy.. just lettin' you know I'm a new subber. A big HI from Glasgow, Scotland *wave
Thanks legend, appreciate you being here!
Brickwork Board looks great see laying bricks is easy , good job big fella, Bandsaw blade yeah weak spots don't use , make a hand saw with the blade , I am sure you will create something with it.
A hand saw wouldâve been a great use of it!
Parabéns pelo seu trabalho ficou linda a sua tåbua
đ€
Thank you. I just used google translate for your comment.
Krowkcirb? Turned out great mate, it's a great pattern to get into end grains... they only get more crazy from here. đ
Iâve just come off a 12 hour night shift so it took me a minute at the start of your comment đ way to switch it up.
Yeah Iâve got my eye on some other patterns... eventually Iâll get to them haha
Brickwork......looks awesome Mate!! Excellent and informative vid man. As for the bandsaw, I have very little knowledge either, but from my previous experience in life with sharp steel travelling at high speeds as a timber cutter and sawmiller, I would err on the side of caution and bin it. Those kinks will have weakened the steel, which is not ideal under high tension and speed. The last thing you want is that blade exploding at full noise with your hands beside it.
Thanks mate! Yes nerves got the better of me and I got rid of the blade and went and got a new one đ
Awesome job on the board Jax. Nice to see some Aussie hardwood being used, instead of walnut and maple. For all the info on bandsaws look up Alex Snodgrass (yes that's his real name) on youtube, he's got the good oil. Also, check out Henry brothers at Vineyard, they make cutting blades great quality and price. Keep up the good work
Thanks mate I will check them out!
Brickwork: Love the project, very inspirational. I have been collecting redgum fencepost offcuts that must be over 70 years old and are defect free, just need squaring off. Planning to do the same. Not sure how the router will cope with the redgum tho....
Nice sharp bit and small passes, hopefully that should do the trick for you mate!
There many types of brick bond, they would all look good.
đ€
Brickwork! Awesome build man! Love the music choice. Maybe a little Slipknot next time too!đ
Would love to, but CZcams copyright rules would prevent me uploading it. đ
Thanks mate!
#KustomGrit looks grouse , I'm just starting to learn the ins and many of the outs of resin and two pack application and this stuff looks great, plus it would be a good excuse to buy an orbital sander, cheers RIP!
Any excuse for more tools is a good excuse đ
Hey mate love the clipâŠ.quick question where did you source your âbranding stampâ from?
This one I got made up by Betts Design in Sydney mate. The one in my older videos was an eBay special
@@JNDCreations cheers mate thanks heaps đ
Just found your channel... I just made two face grain chopping boards and half way through edge grain one... made out of Tasmania oak...
Lovely mate! Work your way up to the end grain!
@@JNDCreations thank u mate were abouts do u get your hardwood from...
@@MrTerryTurtle all over mate. Fb market place is a big one. For this build in particular it was actually through Austim
brickwork After the mineral oil what was you coating the board with? Awesome looking board
A product I used to make, the last jar actually sold yesterday and I wonât be making it anymore. It was called WoodGoo, and was a combination of mineral oil and beeswax đ
Brick work love it looks great. I would not use the blade . I would worry that it would break.
Good call Eryc, I was thinking the same mate so itâs now long gone đ
hi might be a daft question to you but on the first glue up are your bricks face grain up and not edge grain up like an edge grain board please let me know cheers
Yes thats correct, on the final glue up the face grain gets glued to leave the end grain at the top.
@@JNDCreations thanks for a quick reply and the explanation now i know thankyou
I have a craftsman table saw with an old saw blade.what type saw blade should I be using for a good clean cut (how many teeth per)
It really depends on what type of cut you are doing, rip or cross cut. Personally I recommend 24 tooth for a rip and 80 tooth for a cross cut
Iâd also recommend spending that little extra and getting a CMT blade!
Bad ASS!!!!!
đ€đ€
Nicely done, I'm a bit worried about than description of the end grain opening up and closing under the knife, sounds like a good way to breed nasties in the cutting board to me... But I really do like the look of end grain cutting boards, and your brickwork pattern is fantastic!. PS - I didn't start the comment with Brickwork because I am contrary ;)
From what I understand, it also pushed out all the nasties mate. Commonly referred to as butchers blocks they get used by butchers a lot because of this.
Thanks mate, love the brickwork look!
Yes, there's talk about germs breeding in end grain, however, from my experience in commercial kitchens, everything is apparently a breeding place. Most kitchens will not allow any timber at all. Even those plastic chopping boards have knife marks where lurgies can lurk. The thing is most rules are based upon staff being untrained, morons, evil bastards, lazy or other such states where cleaning is not done correctly if at all. Wash with mild detergent, rinse thoroughly and dry. It must be allowed to dry.
What oil do you use is it food safe
For this one I use 100% food grade mineral oil mate. When it comes to oiling chopping boards mineral oil is your best bet as it doesnât go rancid over time like most other oils.
In my more recent end grain video (Diamond Endgrain) I also used wax products from Kustom Creations. Thereâs a link and discount code in my video descriptions for that stuff if you wanted to try it out.
Brickwork awesome build Jax (or is it Jay).
So the big question is what took longer, the build or the edit?
Itâs Jax mate!
The edit certainly took longer on this one đ although I left each glue up for 24 hours... so who knows actually haha.
Thanks for checking it out mate!
I knew it was Jax, but with the edit, I thought you may have been channelling your inner Jay Bates.
đ
@@andrewdavis9021 oh right haha. Iâve heard the name but havenât seen his content. Iâll have to check it out!
@@JNDCreations he is the master of the multiple person, I think I have seen one vid where he got five of him in the shot.
Also not a bad maker.
Certainly sounds like something I need to suss out haha
Brickwork was so nice I had to go outside and touch my bricks on the house
đ
Awesome brickwork brođ silly question but where do you buy Victorian ash and Jarrah from? And what other Australian hardwoods could you use for end grain cutting boards? I can get my hands on a heap of camphor laurel and blue/red gum, could this work? Loved the video look forward to watching more of your videos.
Thanks mate! Depends where you are in Aus, but you can generally get a lot off fb market place. This stuff I got from a local supplier Austim. Bunnings also stock Jarrah and other bits depending on your location.
Gum could give you drama because sometimes they are packet with gum vein, but if the Timbers clean then it should be good. I find camphor to be on the softer side so Iâm not sure how that would go. Plus I donât know if the scent would taint the food at all?
@@JNDCreations yeah thanks good to know.any tips on what im looking for in the gum slabs i want to cut up and use?
@@joshvaughan5582 yeah mate if you can see veins on the surface that 100% there will be more when you cut it up. Other than that itâs pretty hard to tell until itâs all milled up. Iâve gone to use Marri a few times and once itâs opened up thereâs just been too many voids in it. Which sucks because itâs such a nice timber đ
@@JNDCreations unreal thanks mate. What could i substitute the vic ash with mate. Im in Brisbane and really new to this.i really appreciate your help
@@joshvaughan5582 all good mate! You should be able to get Vic Ash over there from a dealer. Iâm not sure what you guys get locally or can source easily. If youâre on Instagram or fb hit up Kustom Creations. Heâs in QLD and would know a lot more about local timber man heâs a wealth of knowledge and would be happy to help you out. I can let him know to expect a msg from you if you want
I'm not sure about the blade, not sure if the damage done to it will make it unusable.
I can tell you though that Carbatec sells the Laguna Resaw King in the length that you saw takes. They're expensive, but totally worth it.
Is that the $300 blade? Iâve looked at that but just canât bring myself to buy it đ
The music is a killer bro đđ soften it a little
Thanks mate. I think my audio balance has gotten much better in my newer content! đ
I'm gunna say no to that band,
Those plastic deformations happened because the force was enough to change the' or the positions of the grain in the metal. Hence the permanence of them.
Using this band would put it at risk of snapping in use, as even under tension the grain structure in that particular section would still be deformed or non uniform to the rest of the band. Every time that section passes a bend it will stress differently to the adjacent sections causing different bending behaviour likely leading to failure of said section.
Or
Yeah na f it, don't use it mateđ
đđđ love the ending đ€
@@JNDCreations đ on ya mate, good work btw.
@@standardaussie thanks mate!
Great video......but WTF is with that music......???? I had to wear earplugs to watch that video. How about a bit of Nat King Cole or Roy Orbison ..
đđ you know CZcams has a volume control hey? No need for ear plugs. If I used music from Nat King Cole or Roy Orbison you wouldnât be able to see the video because it would be removed for copyright infringements.
Geez what a racket
đ€đ€ Iâm not sure what you mean đ
