For as good as I think they ultimately are, there have been quite a few complaints about the latest Phantom model. Blending elements from the original GX and Luna, the GX 2 and Luna 2 aren't exactly what everyone was hoping for. But what if I told you that Nike has already fixed all of these problems?

Nike have the best ag sole plate. Not too aggressive and circular plastic studs.
I actually think the Nike AG-PRO soleplates are a little too aggressive, I prefer Nike’s regular AG soleplates like the ones on the Vapor 14, Legend 9, and the Academy models.
@@All_About_the_Benjamins The studs on the tiempo 9 are longer. AG-Pro has very short studs

4:15, here I sit with a medial meniscus tear because my GX2 fg got caught in the artifical grass. Just ordered AG lmao.
Would you recommend the ag or fg soleplates for me because I spend around half the time playing on gras with the other playing on turf. I'm not sure what kind of turf it is that my school has but it isnt astro and i have never had problems with fg soleplates. The Pile height is 2 1/4” - 2 1/2” I am mainly not sure because I like the responsiveness of a stiff plate as well as the easy change of direction with blades.
I wonder some of the pros actually went for AG sole plate instead of FG
So far they’ve been using the SG soleplate, which is also based off the GX 1 soleplate.
A lot of them use the soleplate of the tiempo legend 4
They do use ag on training days

I don’t think of a pair of boots have ever screamed “buy me” more than these on release. probably the best boots I’ve ever put on my feet straight out the box. needing boots made for ag is a big deal breaker for me so between these as the predators the gx 2 is a clear winner for me in ag model. 👌🏼

@@JonathanRodriguez-nz9nw The ag solplate is so similar to the fg soleplate so I don’t see them as a great option for ag pitches, unless it’s a 10/10 pristine ag pitch. The Nike ag soleplate imo is much better for ag surfaces.
@@leekellehern7 fair enough, i have the speedflow.1 in ag with the same plate, the studs are definitely shorter than the fg and you get more. That said, you are right that this particular ag plate is better overall. Wish adi would hollow theirs out and shorten the studs more. There is a new AG option for the current Pred though that i would love to try and looks incredibly safe and comfortable

the problem is that they no longer produce the AG-Pro version for Nike Pro, but only Academy low and Elite 😡
Thanks! so it’s that time again for me, I have phantom vision 2’s FG SG and AG, I like to use the same boot on different surfaces so it feels as much the same for me as possible unfortunately my AG’s need replacing and I can’t get phantom vision 2s again, so after your help and advice I am going for the phantom luna 2’s in AG my AG phantom visions are size 10 should I go with the same size again or size up for these?

I’d stick with the same size. I personally wear the same size in both 👍
The GX2s i have in AG do feel a bit more comfortable...really good in the wet.. almost predator like grip.
I would recommend the Elite as that is the only boot you get the full grip with.
Same for the Mercurial, with Zoom 3/4 soles... always go Elite. The only one i'd say save money on is the Tiempo Pro now its not leather line of boots.
Do you play in FG I want the AG but I play all in FG grasses I want to know if the AG is good on FG
@@kristiancastillo1730 All depends on how Firm Ground the pitches you play on are. In the UK, when its not wet or raining.. so really June to September AG boots work really well. FG studs are longer, i can wear them on AG pitches but my knees and heals dont like it.

I’m a 14 year old and i use the Luna 2s is it fine if i use them on turf or will the injury chance be high even for my age
Wore my fg pair on turf field and less then a week there’s already signs or rips on the side of the cleats
Nice comparison. I’ve been playing in phantom gt2 ag for last couple years, love the boots and I play both ag and fg fields. (The new GX2 AG is basically the same as the GT boots, just the GT we’re slightly stiffer overall). Recently bought a new pair and tried the hot water trick, and the upper became considerably softer. Can’t wait to get out and test them out

The only problem with the AG plate on FG is the hollowed studs, cuz of the extra mud =\
A paper clip works pretty well for getting out the mud.

Josh quick question if you could please answer I play mostly in FG but I don’t like all the bladed studs that come with the FG version if I end up getting the AG version don’t think I’ll have good enough traction to play on FG ? The AG version reminds me of the Hypervenom phantom 1 where the studs were all round ?

I don’t love it on a super shallow playing surface since the studs are still on the longer side. It’s not that you couldn’t wear them, they’re just not ideal if you’re buying boots specifically for that type of playing surface.
I've used them for 2g/3g, I think they're fine. Maybe could do with a few more studs to relieve pressure but wasn't unusable

Can someone explain the difference between low cut/high cut boots . Sorry haven’t bought cleats since 2012
Yeah it's just whether or not the boot has the sock like collar. Hight cut boots have them. Low cuts don't. The phantom gx is low cut and the luna is high cut. The high cuts are extremely hard to get into so they are always worse than the low cuts

The AG model is less stiff than the FG version.

If you have a nike ag boot lying around, i’d say convert it, but dont stitch it, it’ll ruin the fit and feel of the boot

They're definitely a wider fit, like the Phantom GX 1.

If i have thin and flat feet do you think i could go half size down and be ok even though its a wide boot?
I think they’ll work for most people. With that said, if you can go half a size down in a pair of boots that run true to size, that’s the size you should probably be wearing. Until you try them on, it’s always hard to say how they’ll fit you specifically.
