My family and I played this song at my grandma's funeral. It was perfect. She loved upbeat music and wanted to watch Coco so badly (her mother was Mexican) but never got to as she died 5 days before its DVD release.
When the song started playing at the funeral, I started to cry. But when I heard "Don't let it make you cry" I straightened up and smiled for my grandma.

I saw this movie with my parents just an hour ago, and I saw my dad cried soundlessly when Miguel sang this song to his grandma Coco. I knew my dad thought of his mom who passed away all of a sudden few years ago. He misses his parents so much with the song. It was great movie to make us think of our family members.

This was Hector's last night on the Day of the Dead. Curse or no Curse, Miguel was brought to the Land of the Dead for reason...Hector is to be remembered for Coco so he can see her. Especially discovering what Ernesto did a long time ago.

This is so important! Disney could've had some pop singer cover it like they did with moana and frozen (I especially hate Demi's version of let it go) but no they actually cared and got Mexican singers not only does this seem timeless but it proves that representation IS important

Haven't heard Demi's version in a long time, but I really hate Cara's version of How far I'll go. I agree with you about not covering the song with pop stars & having good representation of the Mexican culture.
Sarah Walter Also they researched the culture for like 6 years before making the movie, and they even completely changed the entire concept of the movie that they originally had planned based on the research. So yes, they do care about the representation, and I love that about this movie and the writers/producers.

I love this song! The movie really did a great job of bringing the holiday of Dia de Los Muertos in a positive light! Our loved ones who have departed are never truly forgotten as long as we hang on to the memories they left behind!

I really miss my brother 🙁 He has Down Syndrome. I remember we are watching this movie whole day along with the Greatest Showman. That was in a hard drive that is connected to the TV since it is not a SMART TV. We kept on repeating every song. This is our ultimate bond. But one day, Heaven took him from us. The saddest thing happened for me and my family. Until now, when I'm listening to this songs, and couldn't help the pain in my chest.

I lost my aunt about a year ago also. It’s honestly really tough and considering it was my first loss that I would have to deal with ever in my life. I constantly think about her even until this day. Everytime i watch coco and listen to this song it always reminds me of her. I saw her the day before she passed away and I honestly wish i could have spent more time with her and given her a bigger hug. It’s not easy but we have to enjoy the moments that we spent with her. I hope your doing okay and feel a little better. She loved you and no matter what she will always be in your heart.
