      @@buddhafollower A large majority of people have come to the conclusion that dying of old age surrounded by your big well of family is a pretty good goal to aim for. Reaching it is another matter but there is always a way up. And if you are intelligent it get a whole lot easier. If the long run seems grim take small daily goals. Move forward. If you keep yourself up others won't have to. You might even help them.

    I interviewed Jack Betts there (the guy having the heart attack) a few years ago. Nicest guy in the world. His girlfriend of many years had just passed away (Doris Roberts, the mom from "Everybody Loves Raymond") so he had moved out of their house and into a modest condo east of Hollywood. He was extremely outspoken about his early career and had a lot of nice things to say about working in Spaghetti Westerns in the 1970's. He even GAVE me a DVD of a movie he was in called SUGAR COLT, which is the film he was proudest of. Last I heard he was healthy and extremely active on stage even in his 90's.

    Douglas should have won an Oscar for this portrayal. He nails the character in so many ways. This was so way way way out of the mainstream for any character Douglas had done before. Loved every minute, especially Duvall as the retiring cop. Just fantastic casting.

    When I saw this movie, in '93, I was amazed at just how close we all are to snapping. 30 years later and many have snapped with most on the bitter edge of coming unglued. So much has changed and not for the better. I could completely identify with everything he went through. The word is exasperated.

    ive been a golfer for 35 yrs and love this scene. there's certainly some assholes that fit the bill of this guy, & although side with MD here, have seen quite a instances of members of the public (that how golfers differetiate non-members) who dont respect anyone's space or right to enjoy themselves (like they want to), even on their own land, so can understan why some get a tad mad. you see fools walking out in the line of the shot, picnics on fairways, portable barbeques, motorbikes, burned out cars, drinking 'clubs', RC vehicles, football games, but the best I saw was a guy just walk out and started training his bird of prey on a fairway in the middle of the day.

      FunForAllTheFamily10 I said politely asking him to leave. I don't know what you see as polite but to me it's not yelling "GO BACK THE WAY YA CAME! THIS IS MY GOLF COURSE, IF HE GETS HIT, THAT'S HIS OWN FUCKIN' PROBLEM". His pills were for a heart condition, that's no reason for him to flip out when he doesn't get what he wants

      FunForAllTheFamily10 I have flipped out before, that's no lie but I have never yelled and assaulted someone for it. I think those that do assault others for this need anger management before they do something they regret... like Frank. Also, what have I not read properly from your previous comments?     When I saw this as a young child. I thought this was an awesome film laced with dark humor.
    Now as an old man... I see it as a heartbreaking film. I've seen some people in my life whose lives fell apart
    much like his (although they did not lose it like this guy).
