XTRO, I remember my parents renting this classic on VHS, we all sat around and watched it as a family. I was 10 years old. They had no idea what they were getting into on that one.
Hell yeah to Xtro. I was exposed to horror since I was an infant so I was rarely scared of anything, but Xtro weirded me out bad. One of those movies that ex...wait...X-cells by being convoluted and illogical. Like watching a real nightmare on screen. Big fan and was always sad it never became a bigger cult hit.

I remember watching Don't Go to Sleep when it originally aired and loving it. The scene where the son gets pushed off the roof and then smash cut to Valerie Harper dropping the watermelon on the ground traumatized me as a kid. I hope it gets a physical release at some point.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on "The Entity." It STILL scares the hell out of me. I can't go to bed after watching it so I always watch something else after as a palette cleanser. I know horror is subjective but some of the scenes and music cues just freak me out.

The only other TV movie to accomplish that feat was 1971’s The Paper Man, which is a little slow but has one AMAZING scene. (“Breath. Brrrreath.” If you know, you know.)
Dark Night of the Scarecrow was the one that messed me up as a kid. Not realizing the Scarecrow was just defending the little girl and getting vengeance on those hateful SOB's. To my kid mind the Scarecrow was the "bad guy" until I saw it later as a teenager and understood the story.
1982 was one of the best years, when it comes to '80s horror!! So many iconic classics here!! Some stinkers too, but even those, even Boardinghouse, lmao, are still interesting! Every part to this episode, has some horror classics on it, that i absolutely love!
Gotta disagree 100% with the Entity supposedly being "overrated". It's just beyond me, as to how anybody could not consider this to be one of the scariest movies ever. I could put that on now, & it'll scare the utter crap outta me, at 40 years in old, & have me jumping at every sound I hear!! I can't think of too many other films that can still do that to me, now, as an aging adult. If anything it's underrated, & deserves more attention!
I saw Xtro on cable back in the 80's. After the father and son left, Mother then goes upstairs to a bathtub full of eggs, eggs then explode instantly killing her. End credits roll? I only saw this ending once so not all of it might be correct but I was definitely surprised when I saw the new ending
I discovered Xtro a few years ago and had to buy a German bootleg DVD to get it. It has become one of my favorite horror movies ever! To explain it to people I tell them to put E.T. and Alien and Carrie into a blender. This is also one of the few movies I have seen where I honestly didn't know where this was going. I normally can feel the ending before it happened but this one...hell no!
It's a damn shame that TV movies never get the HD remastering they deserve. "Don't Go to Sleep" is a great film. Not horror, but a great TV movie I would like to see In HD is "Mongo's Back In Town."
I love Xtro, I first watched this as a kid and I used to own an Action Man at the time (what you called G.I.Joe lol) so the part where he makes it life sized and it murders the old hag gave me nightmares, I refused to have my figurine in the bedroom at night in case it came to life and stalked me. 🤣I've watched it a few times as an adult and it's still pretty creepy, the whole film is weird as hell but the right kind of weird. Xtro 2 and 3 can kiss my arse though, awful films, they're just really bad Aliens and Predator rip offs. Fun Fact! That weird monster thing that you said 'What...The...Hell' to, somebody took a still of it standing by the road in the movie and it was being passed around the internet as a real creepypasta for years, before someone finally exposed it as being a still from this film and loads of people thought it was a real cryptid 😂 Ahh the early internet, I do miss it.
Xtro is a completely WTF, all over the place sci fi / horror movie...wow! I remember Night Flight on USA Network back in the day, great show.! 1982 was a fantastic year for flicks across all genres. "The Thing" was, is, forever & always...a masterpiece!
Xtro is weird but cool movie but in 82 my favorite movie ever was made The Thing and my favorite Halloween themed movie and only 1 I like in the franchise Halloween 3 came out as well.

Out of this block the only two movies I know are the seduction and Xtro. As far as your list for 1982 I agree with it I agree with every pic that you picked especially the best movie of the Year John Carpenter's The Thing.

A little slow but I love Girls Nite Out. It's got charming characters and I love the killer bear. Very cool. I had trouble getting into Xtro. I didn't like the characters and even though the effects are great, I still found myself really bored most of the time. Same with Boardinghouse. Just found it really boring
