You can prevent tears in most cases by avoiding epidural and following your body’s cues for pushing instead of coached pushing. I have had 4 babies all over 8.5lbs with no tears….each time just listening to my body for pushing.
@millieyinaski8495 I'm on my 4th, have always had fast births and also never tore. Did exactly what wad said, waited until my body to start pushing for me.
I didn’t have an epidural but my baby was going into distress right at the end and I could barely stand anymore plus the pain was absolutely excruciating so I pushed like mad to get that baby out of me and still no perineal tearing, I did experience 3 labial tears tho which I honestly think might be worse, sometimes tearing is out of our control, it’s not that bad.
I’m sure you already know this, but using vitamin E oil on your perineum will help with tearing as it can help the area become more elastic. A great way to apply the oil is with capsules and having your partner apply the oil is also a great way to connect… but be careful because at this stage you can have the baby due to ummmm…. Excitement 😅
Just had my baby. This advice is so great! But my recent experience made me realize there are women out there who physically cannot do much of what is recommended for easing labor and birth. I was really limited with my mobility for 7 weeks leading up to labor due to a severe knee injury ( major meniscus and ACL tear) which kept me locked in a brace from shin to upper thigh - no weight bearing unless locked straight, so no movements allowed with my knee bent bearing ANY weight. Also on crutches post surgery and unable to walk much. Shower allowed but no soaking. I did do perineal massage 3x/week for 3 weeks. I was able to an ‘unmedicated’ birth (I did use nitrous oxide which was my jam!), was able to respond to my body through that, and only had 30 minutes in the last phase before 10 minutes of pushing. No perineal tears. Only minimal labial tearing (a stitch per side).
When I learned the stretch for round ligament pain I thought I’d gone to heaven. Helped so much with the pains and also helped get him away from my lungs so I could breathe 😅
This looks so good. I hate the cold clinical environment and how they just take over and tell you how it will go. No thought to the human element or the wishes of the mother. Ugh.
The perineum is the stretch of tissue between the genitals and anus. So, you'd sit on the ball with it pushing the tissue upward, and I'd imagine you breath so that it'll push against the resistance of the ball, strengthening the area. It'll help with getting that area used to bulging and stretching during birth, as well, I'd think. As you can tell, I'm not an expert on this specific tactic, it's simply based on things I'd learned about it. Take it with a grain of salt, lol.
I'm 22 and had a homebirth to a 9lb baby girl. Preventing tears is by not getting an epidural or unnecessary medical intervention so you can listen to your bodies cues on pushing. Nobody should be telling you how to push lol it's as natural as a bowel movement .

Actually, perineal massages from 30 weeks until birth is the best way to prevent tearing.

Realistically not everyone has the pain tolerance for this and this is only one factor in why people tear; there are many reasons why.
You said that with your whole chest as if it’s fact instead of anecdotal 🤦♀️
My evening routine at 19 weeks: *kick off clothes and pass out in bed* 🤣 you are doing a great job!
Wow the perineal ball stretch is such a good idea
Yes!
What kind of ball do you use? And at how many weeks did you start using it I would love to try this!
@@ActionJacquelynwhat ball did you use that I can purchase to do the same?:)
You can look up perineal massage, works just as well and possibly better since the oils help keep the skin moisturised.
@@ActionJacquelynwhere can you purchase the ball?

Super cute, but obviously she’s a first time mom who has the time to do all this self care at night instead of care for her other kids!

Surely if you just push when your body tells you to, instead of when the doctors tell you, you’ll be fine? Idk 🤷♀️

In my country essential oils are forbidden for pregnant women.
You're also not supposed to use them around babies where I am.
Why ball do you use for the perineal stretching?
