    Back in December when my channel exploded in viewership from the Prime Access video, I had no idea how to really keep the momentum going, so I did what I thought was best for views and made rushed rant essays... well... they didn't age so well (Rightfully so). Especially my takes on Deimos. So today I'll be revisiting Deimos and giving it a proper review and delivering it the justice it deserves.

    NOTICE: This video is NOT about any endgame or high endurance and level cap strategies. I base my review and points off of how the frame performs in the GENERAL META and 90% of the game throughout the years, I am NOT a level cap creator, there are other creators who specialize in that. I do NOT dive into high endurance strategies either. This video is not a single definite way to play the Warframe, this is just a general overview. Thank you for understanding.

    EDIT: Ok so little dunce moment on me, at the end of the story section I stated that Grandma might have been involved since her intro "wait... did you" implies she might be the one behind the entire heart breach so the family can reunite, I shoulda went a bit more in detail about her involvement since it's heavily implied rather then speculative. My bad!
    When my channel exploded back in December, I panicked to keep the momentum going and as a result, rushed rant essays were pushed within that month, I'm really not proud of those videos looking back on it. I'll go back one by one and redo those videos later on. The Retrospective was just the first.

    Lore correction: the infested strain on Deimos wasn't just let out because Son was being petty; during the Old War it was about to be completely taken over by the Sentients. The Orokin were originally going to try weaponizing the grey strain on the Sentient, but it didn't quite work out.
    Son got banished because in an attempt to get everyone to give a shit he intentionally put the Heart of Deimos in danger from the infested... Yeah Son's still the shittiest but it's not how they got scarred for life.

      Of all the open world areas, Deimos is the one with the shortest standing grind. It is also the one I've found that I play the most of. Those two statements should say volumes about it. You 'have to' spend less time there, but I find myself *wanting* to spend more. Honestly? I hope we get a Cambion Drift 2.0 with a new infested boss. Mother suggests that there is 'more to be seen' in the vaults when we have a 'better understanding of void energy', and I really hope this is a subtle hint at an expansion down the line.

However, I think that's one of the reasons SoulFrame got spun off. Steve probably wanted a fresh slate with all new tech where he could build a game from the ground up with that as a core mechanic. Now that Duviri is here, and looking at the gameplay sample of SoulFrame, you can definitely see there's shared DNA. I'm curious to see if they keep the new game in the Warframe universe, are there going to be little nods here and there, or is it a full divorce and each game is totally separate?

    My only real gripe with Deimos is the color palette/visual noise can be a bit much at times. Its so harsh and overly red that I actually have to take more frequent breaks from the eye strain it causes. The only other times the game has gotten to me, is the zoom being significantly higher on a select few rifles, eg Latron and Argonak off the top my head.
    And I have color correction off in the settings (lens flares off too, blooms toned down, particle effects are lowered), I dont want to know what it looks like with it ON. It reminds me of the initial Tridolon hunts, and Harry having some bonkers over the top visual effects during his phase, before they toned them down a bit.
    Maybe its just me though, I never see anyone else saying anything about how visually noisy Deimos is.

    • @ClockworkBlade
      @ClockworkBlade Před rokem +6

      I’m partially color blind and I despise Fortuna and Deimos. Deimos is so intensely red it hurts and being Tritanopia blue-yellow color blind makes it worse.
      Meanwhile Fortuna is mostly greys and whites which is only worsened by my color blindness as I can’t always spot the grey blues of the corpus soldiers in the sea of white and grey (the only saving grace is the mushrooms and plants in Fortuna standing out with oranges and reds making it easier to spot things around them)
      I love the design ideas behind both but it’s clear their color palettes need a bit more diversity for less pain on the eyes and less struggle for color blindness

    Deimos does have a “tusk thumper” Of its own. Those broken pillars around the map begin spawning enemies when it’s hit with void damage. If you kill the enemies with void damage near the pillar, it drops fish and mineral parts, even the rarest ones. Use a suck in power like with zephyr then kill with an operator blast and go to the next pillar until you’ve done them all then reset. Easier than thumpers technically, but no mod drops

    Quick lore input: The Heart of Deimos doesn't JUST power Warframes, it is hinted to power all things in the in the Orokin Empire that relies on it. The only things that don't get affected by its loss are things located on planets and moons with strong Void presence like Lua which is why the Necramechs are still functionable OR objects in the Void itself.
    So destroying the Heart is equal to destroying that fancy treasure you just collected and turning it into the fanciest frontlawn ornament. If that's not the case then guarding the Heart after the Tenno "vanished" after Narhmer came just is a waste of time and we know the family did this because Daughter tells us during the Veilbreaker quest.
    As for why the Grineer and Corpus don't attack... well, the Infestation was once used to fight Sentients, and although we can handle it fine... we need to remember that the Infestation is still a massive threat in lore that many would be hesitant to try a direct assault. It's probably the reason why we never needed to go the Deimos during the New War or why the Family stayed mostly ready to guard the Heart... maybe the Infestation, albeit manageable for us, is very difficult for everyone else.

I mean do you think those tentacles we see on our way dowm to the planet are for decoration? It's very likely that while fass and vome fight amongst themselves the moment they sensed a true threat any large ships would get crushed and batted away and the planet itself has a living immune system that consists of billions of horrors and thats without taking into account the spores that very likely make up the atmosphere so infantry would have one hell of a time.

    I hate being on Deimos (cuz I'm a coward) but it's my favorite of any of the regions. I love all of the different bits and thank god that you can get tags from random dudes just getting hurt in the middle of endless missions.
    Also about the Heart: Barely anyone knows the Heart exists, I doubt the Corpus guy on the mission knows the heart exists. Plus, you need keys from all of the Entrati to unlock the way to the Heart, AND that's not even counting the Infected OR literal TENS THOUSANDS of Tenno constantly online (Warframe usually has somewhere between 30k and 60k Tenno playing at once) so even if only a tenth of all tenno participated in the Event, I doubt even a combination of the Corpus and Grineer working together could break through them, especially when they'd also have to be fighting the Infected. Sure, they might get close to the Heart, but IF they manage to break through the doors and IF they manage to hold back the Hundreds of Saryns, Octavias, Rhinos, and Mags, they'd be at a fraction of their previous power and since the Corpus need time to manufacture Robots and they use regular humans instead of Clones they'd be at a numerical disadvantage, plus they'd loose a massive chunk of sales from selling to the Tenno putting them doubly behind the Grineer.

    • @tanwenwalters7689
      @tanwenwalters7689 Před rokem +1

      It'd also just be suicide even if the ramifications of getting through the Tenno wasn't a thing. The Heart powers _all_ void powered tech. Which probably isn't much of an issue for the Grineer, but on the other hand Corpus tech is still largely void based.
      And the biggest thing, for all of them, is Solar Rails. Solar Rails are the only way to get from planet to planet at reasonable speeds, and be they Tenno, Old Orokin, Grineer or Corpus designed, they're all Void powered (AFAIK), even if they don't launch you into the Void. So even though the Grineer would get a massive jump over the Corpus and the Tenno by shutting down the Heart, their supply network would instantaneously collapse, potentially causing them to be far weaker in certain areas, and essentially destroying the Grineer Empire outright. With how reliant the system is on Solar Rails, the Heart's permanent destruction would arguably be a cataclysm for the entire system on the level of the Old or New War.

    About the heart of deimos, it is under pretty strict control and defenses. We were literally only able to get there because the entrati family let us get there, the doors wouldn't open otherwise. And I guess the doors are made of adamantine or whatever. There's also the necramechs, and the general infested horde keeping it safe. That said, the grineer and corpus teaming up to go try and break the heart would genuinely be a pretty metal event DE could do, as we work with the entratis to fight them off and reinforce the heart's defenses. That said, the heart is... Kind of a plot hole in and of itself, reliquary drives seem to be the actual source of void power.

    Small point about the heart: It's not just warframes that rely on it. Most/all orokin technology reliant on the void and it's derivatives are powered by it in some way. So that small hiccup of it getting shut down would have caused MAJOR issues in the entire origin system. As it basically shut down space travel for those few minutes it was off, disabled shields, disabled FTL communication, and turned off all the powers elite enemies have. If it was actually thought of in a larger capacity than just an important mcguffin, we'd at least have radio chatter referencing the event.

    • @tanwenwalters7689
      @tanwenwalters7689 Před rokem +1

      Not just FTL communication, the only way to get from planet to planet in the speeds that the Origin System relies on is Solar Rails (or Railjacks, but they're a Tenno specific thing). Solar Rails are themselves powered by the Void, so they'd go totally inert as well. Setting aside things like the Corpus' reliance on Void tech (Grineer seem to use more normal, realspace tech), just the loss of the Solar Rails would be a cataclysm tantamount to the Old or New War, and would pretty much instantly dismantle every multi-planetary organisation.

      Yeah. I see that a lot when people talk about games in general now, especially in grindy ones. The game being interconnected and requiring you to interact with its systems is seen as a bad thing (people think the same way about Railjack) and that's a 50/50 problem between the game just not being fun to play, and/or maybe the people in question don't actually like to play the game and they don't realize it.

I got all the brother tokens I needed from tags that I just got from bounties.(sometimes animals are just capturable without tranq I dunno why). The father tokens are super easy to get as you can just collect resources while doing bounties, and same goes for Loid/Otak tokens or daughter tokens(from the crates all over the place) The grandmother tokens were also easy as long as I converted the tokens I got from the other family members into grandmother tokens at every opportunity.

  • @PetroklosZDM
    @PetroklosZDM Před rokem

    So here's a thing about Deimos that many, including you, seem to have completely missed: you don't need to actively do fishing, mining nor conservation.
    Doing Obelisks and Isolation Vaults' Bonus Stage will give you so many fish parts and minerals that these two are covered. Then just tranq whatever Vulpaphila, Predasite and Velocipod you come across while traversing the Drift and you're covered on tags as well. No searching for active fish ponds and spear fishing, no searching for caves and doing the mining minigame, no searching for poop and tracking the target. You'll be getting all of them almost passively, while also grinding for Mother Tokens, Loid, Iso Vault Rewards and Necramech Parts.
    If you're playing in a Squad of at least two, you can do Iso Vaults and Obelisks at the same time. During Stage 1, one Player goes off to gather Residue and then do the 90s Bait Station Defense, while the other Player flies off to the closest Obelisk and does that. When the Obelisk is done, P2 Marks it and flies to the Bait Station. When the Bait Station Defense is done, P1 flies to the marked Obelisk, picks up all the drops and returns to the Bait Station. Do the rest of the Iso Vault and its Bonus Stage normally for these Resources. Consider bringing a Frame that can speed up or Teleport Otak/Loid for that Bonus Stage.
    There's also Obelisks within the Iso Vaults, so you could consider doing these too. I haven't managed to make them work reliably, as they more often than not just not spawn enough Enemies to be worth it. They tend to work better when doing Arcana Vaults, but you'll be missing out on Necramech Parts and the Bonus Stage resources, so that's probably not worth it either.
    For those, like you, who also dislike Iso Vaults, you're kinda out of luck.

    I found the token system of diamos to be extremely refreshing I can now grind for standing without worrying about a daily standing cap, yes the cap is their but I can just turn in the tokens the next day would doing more bounties, the fishing being tedious yes but the fish being able to swim above water... Slime? Was great and the fact you didn't fall into the water was amazing, and the fact that you can easily farm for all the syndicates within one mission run was great, and vault runs are probably my of the bounties. I played when it launched, with so many QoL missing that we have now, i did not suffered as much, i used nekros to get the parts and it was fine, later with helmith and silence was even easier, probably most people dislike it because viral dont work on them and guns blazing isnt that good, so many physical barriers to it to worth.
    now with conservation warning players when a random pet is down, it is super easy to get son tokens.

    I always have an issue with people who try to find plot holes of "well why didn't X character do this?" and you kind of do it with Latrox Une and wondering why he doesn't just sell out information about the heart. Easy answer is, he doesn't know about it. The heart is supposed to be a closely guarded Entrati secret, and you're making the common mistake of assuming that all the characters in the game know what you, the player, know.

I'm one of the seemingly few people who has a deep and abiding distaste for the current run-and-gun, nuke it from orbit meta. I'm much more of a strategic and nuanced player (the fact that I main Ivara should speak to this.) With few exceptions there's little in the game that's currently done by brute force that can't be finessed often easier by a more thoughtful and tactical approach. And yes, I love cheese, thank you for asking. LOL I generally have little downtime to heal, regain energy, etc. The energy drain on my build is such that I could invis, literally go make a sandwich and eat it, do the dishes and put them away, and come back with only a fraction of my energy pool consumed.
