Registering the serial number with the local cops is important. When they bust thieves, they usually get a ton of bikes back. I have had the cops call me to tell me that they have my bike back.
I've had lights, fenders and the seat stolen from an ordinary mountain bike - which was locked up thoroughly in a highly public location. There comes a point - when you are using a bike for transportation - where you can't shop, because you are too loaded down with bike parts.
Them: always take your battery
Also them: gps tracker in battery
I guess you can only do one of them not both, so if you take your battery, no point to have AirTag, but if leave the battery, then better to have AirTag.
I have the horn alarm accessory installed and it's nice, sorta like a car alarm with vibration detection. Plus I have two locks and remove my Brooks seat and take it with me.
🙌 E-Bike Security Pro!
I wish companies would start adding better theft protection. LIke the bike and battery should be rendered inoperative if a dongle isn't present (I'm just as afraid of the battery being stolen as the bike - that battery is like $5-600!). I also wish it were standard to have a locking device for the battery - I think that's becoming more common, but it still freaks me out.
I glad anti-theft videos are being produced, but this video supplies half-baked measures...
...I couldn't help to notice, when Mr Juiced was locking the bike with that D-lock to the bike rack, he should have locked the rear triangle and rear wheel at the same time. Instead he only locked the top tube.😯
In addition, when you park your bike in your garage, make sure and lock it up. Bike thefts from a garage is more common than you would think.😱
you cant protect ebikes. just keep buying new ones, hahaha.
@@BobRooney290 🤡Let me guess, you were the class clown. Now your'e the town fool🤪
It's a flippin shame you have to do all this. Humanity sucks!
I take my battery off, of course, then I secure correctly using four quality U-Locks, a motion alarm pin-lock through my rear brake rotor, two (or more) good cable locks, and two motion activated 100+db alarm horns. May seem like overkill, but I pull a trailer too (have to with all the locks!), plus I figure no matter where I park I want every other bike within eyesight to be an easier target. Prevention through frustration. I also am not ashamed to take up an entire bike rack or lock up to anything immobile right at the entrance to the store like display structures, no one steals the riding mowers so I lock to them and let Walmart security watch my bike as well as their mowers. I regularly park at Walmart, etc. and have never had an attempt on my CrossCurrent in four years nor had any employees say anything (not that I would care). As it's my only transportation, I can't afford it to go missing. I also get to know the homeless in my area and toss them a couple bucks if they are around when I lock up, and a few more dollars when I leave - best security ever if they know you and like you.
I think it matters a lot where you're located and how long you leave your juice bike outside
Bike security:
1. 2-3 heavy duty locks
2. always lock into bike rack/lamp which is connected with the ground
3. have used frame which looks like taken from the scrapyard
4. if an Ebike uses rear hub motor and has thumb throttle, cassette/freewheel/ or/and chain can be removed
5. password on the screen computer
6. use bike alarm
7. GPS tracker
8. Air tags
9. register for a database
Have all parts of the bike mounted with screws and nuts. Whatever is mounted on the bike with an easy access will be stolen sooner or later. In addition, do not leave your Ebike unattended. If an Ebike has to be left for a longer time, always lock with multiple heavy duty locks (recommend 3) and never leave a battery on it. Never leave an Ebike outside overnight. If you cannot put it inside the house, deal with the landlord about renting a garage or if not, leave it on the back yard out of the road.
I use horn and lock 🔒 about to get Apple air tag soon.
Kryptonite D lock and cable ! Gold standard Hiplok and alarm disk lock even them don't like to leave any were for more than 15 minutes !
02:55 I'm kind of surprised the two metal terminals that connect to the battery pack don't have some sort of protection once the battery pack is removed. Is there any problems with corrosion on these terminals when left out in the rain?
Also, wouldn't it have been better to offer a compartment for the Apple Airtag in the frame or the motor, since I'll be removing the battery whenever I chain my bike up?
I haven't had any corrosion, but be careful you don't short them out - either side, the capacitors in the controller are fully loaded and pack a punch. I only had my CrossCurrent about a month when I was wiping off some dust with my keys in my hand and apparently one of the keys shorted across the terminals, ⚡POW ⚡, a flash as bright as the sun and a pop so loud dogs were barking two blocks aways, nearly gave me a heart attack. Plus it screwed up my controller, blew one of the caps I think, and any time I gave it juice all the motor would do is shake. It was covered under warranty but I was treated like a criminal, and I wasn't even calling for warranty I was calling to find out when they would be back in stock. Anyway, be careful around the terminals, both battery and controller side. They really should come with at least a warning, I knew there could be hot caps and still accidentally shorted them, imagine being some unsuspecting Grandma and have that happen to you!
I carry a light thin plastic garbage bag n bungy cords to wrap around the part the battery connects to when i take the battery off when it will be raining
So it doesn't get wet n may cause problems if it does
I use a large sized bbq cover to keep rain off my bike, it has felt on underside so the cover is hefty and stays put in wind with a couple of big clips
BTW for those looking for an angle-grinder highly resistant lock, you may be interested in the Hiploc D1000. There happens to be plenty of examples on CZcams. Hiploc claims that it will be available for sale in October 2022.
$300 for a bike lock is insane though. Ill pass. There's plenty of good locks that'll do the job just fine in the $40 - 100 range.
@@painexotic3757 If you have a bike that's on the budget side or you live in an area that has low bike thefts, I would agree with your statement.
My bikes are on the expensive side and I live in a major metropolitan city, where bike thefts are common.
There are many other things I rather purchase other than an expensive bike lock, but it would haunt me if I allowed myself to be a victim of a bike theft.
@@ilovephotography1254 I have a $1k ebike and I wouldn't pay for a $300 lock. I've been cycling for 4+ years now with cheap locks and haven't gotten my bike stolen yet. You can literally just use 2 locks (1 u-lock and 1 chain) and that should be fine. And if you're that paranoid, use a warning lock that makes noises when someone moves your bike and alerts you on your phone. You dont need a $300 lock. Until my bike gets stolen, I will not change my mind. Yet here I am after over 4 years as a daily bike commuter using two cheap locks and still haven't gotten my bikes stolen.
@@painexotic3757 I'm glad to hear that your bike has been safe. I wish you continued best luck. It's unfortunate that we live in a society where many of us worry about bike theft. Depending where you live, bike protection may not be as great. I understand in Japan, bike thefts are very rare.
@@ilovephotography1254 I'm in america and used to live in an area where bike theft was common (south florida). I still haven't gotten my bikes stolen lol. I feel like the only people who get bikes stolen are people who use those cheap $5 walmart cable locks. All you need is two and to put your bike some place where thieves dont even get an opportunity to steal it.
Thanks for ever juiced bike ik I’m getting one on my 19 birthday know as the hyperscorpion and I choose the color blue because it my favorite color since I watch this video this may help me protect my e bike easily 🙂
🙌🎂 Happy Birthday in Advance!
@@juicedbikes Mine birthday at march 1st 2003
@@XerneasGCMV by now your bday passed and I hope you've been enjoying your ebike. Honestly the best way to avoid it getting stolen is NOT locking it up in the first place!
I turned everything off if I’m leaving my bike for an extended period of time I unlock and take my battery. I use a U-bolt to connect my frame to a harden structure and then I take a cable lock and I connect my front tire to my bicycle and sometimes to the same hard structure. If I can find some more locks, I’d put those on.
I’m motivated cuz I love my juice bike ❤️
Gotta keep it safe! 🔐🔗
@@juicedbikes I hear you! Last year I bought an entry level e-bike and I love it. I got to a 7 -11 and locked the wheels and frame to each other, put the alarms on and still didn't feel comfortable just to go in to get a snack. So I unlocked it and brought the bike INSIDE! The clerk didn't really say anything as I put it in a dead spot and told her Im just grabbing a water and donut . I now have that bike plus the Aniioki AQ 177 Pro Max
Good buy for the money
I’ve got TWO ALARMS and a Litelok U lock on the way for my Ariel Grizzly Rider and trying to decide WHICH CHAIN lock not a cable to purchase
Would you guys be able to make a video on how to properly clean your ebike? If possible the scorpion one since there aren't many bike shop out there willing to service it :(
Thanks for the recommendation! We've passed it along to our production team who is constantly working on adding more educational videos to our channel.
The hidden compartment is no secret if you show it in a video.
Yes, but who’s gonna be going around with the particular screwdriver, needed to get the AirTag compartment open?
@@WaIterwhite308 Thieves will have a screwdriver
@@WaIterwhite308 ummm, bike thieves....
Most thieves have no idea about the details of any specific bike they are stealing
Thinner locks that can be cut with bolt cutters are useless. You have to get the expensive locks like new york fahgetaboutit or equivalent that cannot be cut with bolt cutters and take like 30 seconds with angle grinder. Also never leave longer than 5min.
If your apple airtag is on the battery and you advice talking the battery with you when you lock up the bike, what use is the tag when you ha e the battery ??
You could always double up, AirTags are inexpensive and easily hidden on the e-bike. We recommend taking your battery inside to prevent the theft of the battery since that’s the most expensive component.
Some bike lock companies will reimburse your bike if you register the serial number with them and read all the “but did you do this” in the contract… and fine print

Don't try to get your home insurance to pay for your e-bike. In some circumstances they will drop you if you actually try to get it covered without going through the right hoops. Insurance is not for bikes, insurance is for things you can afford to replace. Yes some insurances will pay for things, but you're not getting it for free, you're just paying higher premiums and/or getting dropped. Take responsibility for keeping your bike safe, and save so you have enough money in case it gets stolen.
Is there anything that can help keep the battery secured on the bike? Ours just falls off on transport in the back of the suv. We can't take the battery with us into a lot of places. All it takes to get the battery is a slight kick. Is there a permanent solution to keep the battery from walking off? No way we can see a Padre game dragging around this big battery.
Hey Kurt, Thank you for your feedback, we recommend always removing the battery using the key for transport on your rack. If the battery is coming off when the battery is properly seated and locked into place please contact juicedbikes.kustomer.help/contact/contact-us-Bkm4GFIzt for more assistance.
My idea is for a Spider lock, 4 cables tentioned out and one being a skunk.
How about a safe way to lock bikes on hitch mout bike rack? Recently had $10,000 worth of bikes stolen off a thule T2 pro hitch mount bike rack using their tiny cable lock that was part of the bike rack. It happened when traveling on the back of our car when stopped to do a thirty min hike where no bikes were allowed. Been thinking some way to rig up two beefy chain locks like Hiplok, kryptonite ect. I know no system is perfect. Just want to be able to leave them on the car for a few hours say at national park parking lot or the like. Bikes won't fit in the car with all our camping gear. Any ideas would be super helpful! Thank you in advance!
thats a shame that happened to you, im sorry . Its a shame we have to live in a world where we fear our possessions we work hard to buy are targets !
Effective
Sometimes its impossible to take the battery with us. for example i rollerblade.... say no more. perhaps the battery manufacturers have to help in this regard.... like making a hole where you can put another bike lock in it.
How about an alarm system that sirens and locks the tires from rotating ... a little shock wouldn’t hurt
Thanks for the recommendation! We've passed it along to our product team who is constantly working on making our bikes even better for our customers.
On a bike rack Please use 3 or more locks while on the rack. Trust me I know. Had mine stolen while on rack.
Mine stolen, too. Now--now-- I got the heaviest chain link & shroud padlock for a pole at the house and put the Abus U on frame--while home camera on it, too. I am getting the really noisy alarm on it, too (now on the Juiced B website.) I had to get another JB asap....I was so, so upset --violated (and I can tell you are, too.)
I didn't even know there was specifically bike insurance until AFTER stolen.
(I got myself another JB. The violation feeling is slowly getting better.
you nailed it....3 locks is a requirement.
In life I even had one stolen from my secure garage...back then airplane flying overhead sometimes weakened garage door opener code
Three u locks? Or two u locks and a cheeper cable lock?
@@a.hendblade5291 Any heavy locks. Remember you paid a lot for your bike invest in good locks.👍
When I'm at home I roll my Ebike inside my house. I roll it right against the wall it takes up very little room. Thief's are bold I seen a guy taking the trailer hitch off a guys pick up truck with his two small children in the truck and take his time unscrewing it and walk away slowly . My point is thief's are bold. If you can work it into your Budget I highly recommend getting theft insurance.
Isn't the apple tag limited to 1.2km distance?
Hey 👋 As long as the item with the tag is within 33 feet of someone with an iPhone your air tag will pop up within the "Find My" network.
wait is that a new version of the cross current x?
What are you seeing that looks different? It looks just like my CCX.
What good is hiding an air tag in the battery if you take it with you into the store?
Hey 👋 Many people do leave their batteries on for various reasons and the battery is the most expensive part of the e-bike to replace. AirTags are super inexpensive so if you do want extra protection on the e-bike while taking you battery in doors there are many places you can hide one.
i have theee and stickers that say g.p s track and the next sticker says this bike is not worth life push along. you just told everyone where you are putting your g.p.s
Well thanks for telling me about the hidden compartment not so hidden now you should probably save that for the customer's 😂
Thanks for the feedback! But not many bike thieves are watching these or putting that. much thought or work it to it, most thefts are smash and grab. The air tag compartment has helped many of our customers get their back e-bike back.
@@juicedbikes ya I get it I'm actually surprised that ebikes don't come with a built-in alarm that would be nice
HyperScorpions and HyperScrambler 2 actually do come with build in alarms, and for all other models we offer a horn/alarm listed under our accessories.
Is there a way to electrify it so that whoever touches it gets shocked?
Now there's an idea 🤔

Lock it up in the Garage or shed TOO .
After my bike was stolen, now I always detached the battery
it's actually shameful how criminality seems to be exploding in general, not just ebikes are getting stolen like never before. that no body steps in when people are obviously breaking a bike open is a really messed up state of affairs and shows you that some thing is very wrong. if the prevention was done in the form of very harsh prison sentences for theft of any item thats not food. people would think twice. stealing a ebike should be treated with enough prison time so most people will just not think it's worth the risk. all this thieving would soon stop if we actually punished people seriously for it. just look at Bahrain, you can leave a wallet full of cash in any cafe and come back the next day to get it, if they didnt already bring it back to you that is.
Thank you for the tip about taking the battery with you. if there is no battery it seems the thief can't use the bike to steal it? I think it is interesting the climate change carbon footprint agenda is pushed yet bus and amtrak routes are reduced or terminated all together.. and that it seems so easy to steal bikes, of whatever kind is notable. Is it so hard for cities to protect private property?
Climate tax.. power and control
Your that Guy huh?
My bike is 99 dollar Walmart special, with a five dollar lock 🔒 , nobody even wants it when is unlocked
Gotta give it to ya 👏 Built in security.
Air Tags don’t work any Apple have decided they could be used for a dodgy wys to track people too so now they notify the thief that an air tag unknown to the thief that an air tag is near, then shortly afterwards the tag starts bleeping so it notifies the thief of its exact location.
IMHO an Air tag is as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
Hey 👋 Air tags helped one of our riders get their e-bike back from a thief, check out Liz Amazing’s account. Correct, if they have an iPhone they will be made aware there is one near, but they won’t be able to access/find it easily.
@@juicedbikes And the fact that the thief now knows he/shes being tracked might help deter the theft and ditch the bike immediately!
You'll also need to put a GPS device on your bike to track it down but have the police do it don't try and track the bike down on your own risking your life 🤔
I use angle grinders to steal e-bikes at night.
Move another country is the best prevention...
Got any ideas how to easily carry ebikes in the back of a pickup without laying it down?
Hey 👋 You can use heavy duty ratchet tie down straps to secure the e-bike upright in the back of a pick up truck
Initial response: Got this bike for my friend. czcams.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ Delivery was fast. And the friend was surprised I would order it when she had never suggested she wanted anything but the pedal bike she had. She has now ridden the bike two times and gives it a 10 and says it is very fun. We have some hills in our town that are very challenging to climb on a typical bike. But tonight she went up with the pedal assist and loved it. I was way behind on my standard bike, huffing and puffing. Now she is no longer lagging behind me. This thing is powerful enough that a person could go around town without any pedaling. She likes to get some exercise so on flat ground she hits the red button to turn off pedal assist and only uses the twist throttle when she's in a tough spot. The bike looks good. It is really a very nice bike for the friend. Now for me, when I get an electric bike, I'm twice her size and will be looking for a bigger watt motor and battery. But this one is just wonderful for my friend. I am happy with this purchase.
