    I've gotten better with prep, but I still get minor lifting every now and again especially after a set is three to four weeks old. Yes, I am one those people who believe nails should last for eight months. Lol

      Literally y I started doin my own lmao and the fact that they love chopping off your real nails wether u say yes or no 🤬🤬🤬 but since I've started doin mine the longest set was 2 nd a half months now they looked like I went thru the valley of the shadow of death but they all was on nd I still had to soak em

    • @xxSydneyFox
      @xxSydneyFox Před 2 lety +2

      They really shouldn't last that long and the reason is because you have no idea what's going on underneath. You can get lifting of the natural nail from the nail bed, greenies, other nasties and of course the start of an allergy too.

  • @destinystopcoatnailzandlashes

    I think the key is the speed! I was saying it’s taking me FOREVER to file and Tracey was talking about the bit sharpness and machine speed and I just realized I’m only about half way on my machine for bulk removal, so no wonder I’m thinking if I try to speed up it burns so didn’t want to turn up speed on machine. I tried it tonight on myself and dramastically cut down my time filing and didn’t get warm at all until I slowed it down around my cuticles (non dominant hand also) then I put the pieces together and it clicked. TYSM!! 👏

  • @auntigingy8666
    @auntigingy8666 Před 3 lety

    That makes Sooo much sense. It also has a lot to do with the grit of the file, the hand soap some of us use and if are protecting our nails wile cleaning etc if it’s not acrylic and just a wrap, gel nail or gel polish. I noticed a huge difference when I switched to a higher grit on the cuticle area. Fine grits don’t prep the nail nearly well enough for a gel polish, gel nail or a wrap. Everyone ik had lifting on the cuticle with a wrap and gel polish after 14days. If they use gloves when dishes, cleaning or even a rougher/higher grit file that won’t happen.

    So I only have a problem with my right hand , my nails on my right always pop off. It is my dominant hand so I’m thinking that might play a factor in it, but when I use to go to the nail salon my nails on my right hand did not pop off.

I fix the nails and pray that they don’t come back. When I do refill on other peoples work I get very few lifting. It’s mostly on the full sets I do myself. I feel so discouraged! Going to take these tips and see if it helps.

    This video was very helpful! I did my own dip powder nails at home for the first time and got lifting and chipping by my cuticles in less than a week! Okay I am having some issues with lifting on nails that I do for people. Here is what I do for Prep every time, please tell me if I am doing something wrong:
    - Push cuticle back
    - Cuticle drill bit to remove non-living tissue
    - Sanding band to roughen and clean up nail bed
    - Bit to remove old gel polish (if doing a fill)
    - Make sure I have a proper nail tip fit (if doing new set)
    - Roughen up nail tip (if new set is being done)
    - Dehydrate natural nail bed with YN Swipe (new set or fills)
    - Young Nails Protein Bond
    - Then I use YN Acrylic with YN monomer.
    So what am I doing wrong here that causes lifting for some of my ladies, or is it what THEY are doing with/to their nails once they leave? When they come back to me and have nails that have popped off or lifting, they speak to me as if it's entirely my fault that its happening.

    • @peachybrook6658
      @peachybrook6658 Před rokem

      it sounds like you're doing everything right? a lot if clients will say that their nails just fall off but if they are banging or hitting their nails, it causes lifting even if the artificial nail does not come off.

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  Před 2 měsíci

      It is possible that it's something they are doing. It would also depend on where they are lifting from to be able to narrow it down.

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  Před 4 lety +10

      Yes of course medication definitely affects nails, unfortunately in that situation there isn't much you can do outside of experiment with each client to see if a different product bonds better like if they had acrylic try gel. Worst case scenario nothing is staying on I would recommend them come in more frequent so you can keep up on them

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  Před rokem +1

      When prepping, we don't recommend trimming the cuticles until after the service. This way, if you bump them with a file, they won't be as delicate. All you need to do for prep is push them back and use a medium arbor band to remove the shine from the nail.

    I always push the cuticles back with the pusher and get all the white stuff off but they still pop of after a week or 2

      Swipe and protein bond are game changers. Swipe dehydrates the nail perfectly while protein bond helps everything to stick better.

    Thanks for the helpful tips! What would you do about lifting at the free edge? Sort of a reverse lifting. The natural nail seems to let go of the product (gel) and my clients get lots of dirt and junk accumulated between the gel and the natural nail at the free edge.

      That is caused from the natural nails being dry and brittle. It causes the nail to pull away from the enhancement. I would recommend rose oil and no picking! lol mini rose oils are the promos for nov/dec perfect client gifts!

      Omg the answer to this just may have solved my issues. Now I want to redo my nails and fix em. Hard to keep em hydrated when my hands are always in water
