The Nebula Capsule 3 Laser was probably never meant to project onto a T-Shirt, but Linus did it anyways. Don't worry though, he also tries the Capsule 3 on a regular projector screen to check out the projector's HDR, brightness, and built-in speakers to see if this all-in-one battery-powered projector is right for you.

7:49 this is hilarious. Linus sitting in a room with magenta ambient light and thinking the projector has too much green.
(Due to your eye's automatic white balancing, if you are in a magenta room, white looks green. Green room white looks magenta. Orange room white looks blue. Blue room white looks orange. Etc etc.)

Although this is more specifically about colour perception rather than the science of how the actual colours are produced.
Haha. Too correct. Is why all color correcting studios have 15 to 18% neutral grey on every surface.

Even at just 1080p, a projector that size is pretty impressive.

@@Talezi1 No, she didn't. she's gone. you have to move on
@@noredine damn.. right in the feels
I agree, I was expecting something of this quality to exceed the $1k mark. Using Chinese slave labour most likely helps keep the price down.
don't believe the hype 300 lumens is horrifically dim
I’m a teacher who moves between different schools and classrooms, all with different display set ups. This looks so close to finally realizing my dream of having a super portable back up projector I can always have with me in case something goes wrong
Depending on your school, this might be better, than the school provided projector.
this is almost certainly better than every projector in every German school
This projector is only usable in a complete darkness with a 45" screen,
@@JakeJoris They just used it in almost complete darkness with a 120" screen. I beg to differ.
@@JakeJoris , lol. You don't need the image to be perfection if you're trying to project relatively high contrast images like teaching material slides. You just need need black text to show up on a white background and for, say, an image of a cell not to be completely blurry. Ideally you'd be giving kids a higher quality hand out of anything they needed to see in finder detail or could refer them to the page of their textbook where you got the image. It's a back up. Your standards are way off saying it's "usable in a complete darkness with a 45" screen".
I'm honestly extremely impressed, this is absolutely something I would consider for camping or even travelling.
I have the previous gen and use it for exactly that. It's great except the built in Android on previous gen sucks so I carry a Google tv dongle in the case with it. Wifi tether to my phone and the kids are entertained.
@@orderlykaos7901 when you are in the middle of the woods what do you use as a screen does it come with some wall where you can project into
Except that it costs as much as a very good quality 1080p projector that at least has a usable brightness, because 300 ANSI lumens is not even close to being usable.
@@JakeJoris it's enough at night, this is good if you don't have electricity you can power it longer with a battery bank it's not meant to replace a regular sized projector. Definitely a market for it, the price is hard to swallow if I went on longer camping trips more (i mostly go on weekends) I would probably buy it.
@@jd2792 I carry a small white bed sheet with it
I did 3 tours in Iraq and every time I had a projector. And every time my living space became the movie space for my maintenance teams and other soldiers in my units. I inspired some of our guys who did patrols to get one as well for over night missions they did. By my third tour I had built a 100" screen out of plywood and white sheets I bought online. Even one of my 3 room mate's had his own projector as well for an opposite facing wall. We had our door open one night and our Commander walker by as I was watching a movie and my room mate was playing on his chipped Xbox 360. He just stood there for a minute stunned that we had entertainment locked down so good in such a tiny space. This tiny projector would be perfect for soldiers who deploy. When they come back to base such a tiny projector is perfect to shooting movies in small rooms. Honestly having a projector was my best deployment item I brought each time. And even when you come back from deployments they are wonderful in barracks as you can easily lock it up when your done with it. I wish I could of had one of these back then. My pelican case would have been allot lighter and smaller lol.
@@drinkwater9891 I was thinking the same thing cause at first I thought he meant he was on vacation until he mentioned "Soldier". I guess it's a way to decensitise soldiers to the harsh reality of it. "We're going on a tour in another country in military gear" vs "we're invading another country and killing lots of their people" is a lot easier to take in mentally and also a lot easier to tell friends and family too.
Been using the nebula 1 as almost a daily drive for years since the kick starter. Very happy with it still, but can see the auto focus and 'authentic' play store as a massively nice iteration.
I have the II and it has auto focus too but the focus button on the new remote for the III is kind of nice because sometimes, rarely, but it happens it doesnt focus properly so you have to go into a menu.
Considering this is not bad, the best use case would really be that quick pitch to someone.
Even if there is a screen, being the one who just has everything prepared and doesn't pitch on a small laptop screen, is going to push your chances by a lot.
4:55 I had the feeling that the Shield had a companion app with trackpad functionality. So I checked my phone and it does have it.
I thought I had used something like that before I picked up a Bluetooth keyboard.
can confirm that it's still there, it also has a D-Pad type for those who want a conventional style of remote.
Can confirm it definitely has it
THANK YOU! I've had my nvidia shields since 2015, and I had no idea this existed until I read your comment! Sooo gonna try this out!
This is pretty nifty. Also I find some irony to this getting posted slightly before they drop anchor as a sponsor for the foreseeable future
Do we know that the camera doesnt take a picture of you and send it to the cloud??? :)
i just want to appreciate that no matter what linus takes the initative and smiles to us on his videos. He always maintains a positive aura throughout. It makes it relaxing and enjoyable to watch him :)
This is exactly the kind of projector ive been looking for. Bedroom use (pitch black) outdoors in the evening / dark or just setup for fun wherever.
Then checkout the Wemax Advanced Go. I've listed its features on a comment a little while ago.
If you're aiming for 1080p or don't mind 720p, look into the previous versions, i got the previous "max" (does 1080p) version for about £450, 2 years ago. probably a bit cheaper now!
8:51 "No rainbow effect because it's not DLP."
No, Linus, it's _laser DLP_ not laser projection. From their website: "Display Technology: DLP 0.23 DMD"
Thanks for the clarification. Still not discernable rainbow effect for me tho!! -LS
@@ShortCircuit, the best technology is triple-laser-MEMS building the picture by one single micromirror moved on coils in a magnetic field. Still there are only a few weak devices on the market, but the advantages are superior to any other technique: no focus needed and sharp picture on any geometry, optical zoom by changing coil voltage amplitudes, no native resolution like an old CRT, no rainbow and all the other ugly sample and hold-artifacts by scanline-drawing, super small like a packet of cigarettes, energy efficient as hell: black means switching all 3 lasers off at a pixel, looks dramatically better than OLED with BT.2020 (full perceivable color spectrum) on a dark screen.
czcams.com/video/-SdyieXe6zU/video.html
The 0.23 is a wobble-cheater with 720p. Be carefull to buy no diamond matrix, else texts will look terribly! The rainbow-effect is only missing because of the low brightness.
F to pay respect for anker x ltt as this most probably be the last anker sponsored video we'll see until anker at least cleans up their security issues with eufy... Which sucks because anker products are really cool and linus seems to really enjoy most of the products they send them
I've always wanted a thorough review of this. It's not cheap but it definitely delivers.
This is impressive, a take anywhere projector is just what I was looking for
Linus just straight up enjoying cool new tech. Anker must be really happy with how this video turned out haha. Just good vibes all around :D
That's what I love about this channel. People are like, "Linus' a millionaire now, how can he be relatable??". Well, it's because every time he opens a new tech toy, he's looking forward to see what it can do, and check all the little details and interesting bits, just like I would be. He genuinely loves tech and that's so rare to see. Many other reviewers are just jaded and grumpy, looking at every possible chance to crap on something...
Nebula really is making some awesome stuff
I’m watching this on my Nebula Capsule 2 right now and I love it. I’ve had it for 2 years now and I use it daily. I love being able to pick it up and go to my buddies house and just project the hockey game on his wall.
One of the things that we have found with our benQ mobile projector is that the best use case for these is for on the go presentation. This might be a bit overkill but it’s so vital to have something like it when going to places without tech setups
love that editing error at 7:11 where you see Linus wanted to say something "mean" about the speakers but he couldn't cause of the sponsor so they cut the clip but they made the cut just a little too late 😂
Friggin cool little projector. Finally portable projectors move out of the space of just being a gimmick. This could as well be a main driver projector for some people, with the added benefit of portability

Pair this with a wireless soundbar or speaker and you have a wireless movie set up anywhere you like this is amazing.
0:42 The way the "or" in that sentence is basically inaudible makes me imagine a dad whipping out a powerpoint presentation for his kids friends
Only a day later, Linus talks about how Anker's brand screwed up super royally, and pledges to not work with Anker anymore.
Last EVER Anker affiliated video you'll see Linus cover #EufyScandal
Shoutout for the KEEP TALKING AND NOBODY EXPLODES folder LTT...hahaha..makes me proud to be a subscriber. LOL
This is the only thing that has ever made me want to have a screen in my bedroom.
Laying down on your back and pointing that at the ceiling is next level content consumption.
I already have it for like 4 weeks now and I friking love it 🔥🔥
Does it automatically adjust to a smaller wall ? And how is the hDMI 2.1 with the Xbox series X? Short throw and long throw?
Last anker sponsor lol
I love Anker as a brand. Ever since the Soundcore Bluetooth speaker, which still works after about 8 years of abuse.
This is definitely out of my price range, but I love the concept so much. Once this becomes more mainstream, which I suspect it will,
and the prices drop to about 500$, a mini laser beamer is an instant buy.
So flippin' coool! I would get one to take around the house and view CZcams TV in any room. It's way better than a tablet, this has nice room filling speakers.
Wow just in time, before Anker got blacklisted by linus.
Hah I came here just after seeing the eufy blacklisting and we still don't know if their scales stream your balls
This is exciting for many reasons. Projectors are getting better, smaller and cheaper (compared to what they used to cost)
Looking at this from a technology adoption curve point of view, projectors of this calibre should get cheaper over time like TV's have.
I am hoping to one day get a phone with a built in projector or a small quick connect projector module, I can easily see that being very convenient. It likely won't happen until solid state batteries reach commercial level though as their massively improved energy capacity is going to be integral to that kind of function. The most recent figures I have seen put Al-ion batteries at having double the energy density of Li-ion batteries with that expected to reach triple.
This brightness at 300 nits is worse than even budget TV's, so it's a pointless argument, unless it's specifically bought for it's mobility such that you don't want to carry around a 60" TV. At £400-£500 it would make a good outdoor camping display, but at £800 they're pretty much limiting the customer base to traveling sales executives and DJ's.

@@ImCeatra I just looked that up and while it is an interesting bit of kit, I am hoping for something substantially better than that communist grade phone.
Definitely Keeping this in mind for later. Building out a Wrangler for Car Camping/Light Overlanding and i am interested in getting some kind of projector for Camp Movie Night. Will keeep this in mind when i get around to it.
When Linus pointed the projector at his t-shirt he became... Alignus.
Thanks I'll be here all week.
This genuinely looks amazing. It’s been a very long time since a product review has actually made me so surprised by its performance. Sure it’s expensive and the battery isn’t great, but I’m genuinely impressed by it. It’s been great watching Anker go from the maker of cheap but good quality cables, to maker of a fantastic projector! Great job LTTeam
Bring a battery bank and you're set!
@@CodeNeonMC yeah. Wish they mentioned the draw. I’d be curious to know how long I’d get off my 60,000mAh battery pack.
they make good flashlights too
To correct Linus for something he mentioned, the nVidia Shield also has the ability to have a phone act as it's remote/keyboard.
After all both the Shield and this seems to just be Android TV devices
When Linus is talking about a presentation when your kid’s friends are over I imagine the presentation about what tech the kids are allowed to touch 😅
great use of the title for a 10 second gag at the end haha
As someone who has had to (with much hesitation) sell mini projectors in the past that are almost invariably awful, either being entirely too dim (50 LUMENS...) or pitifully low resolutions, this may actually be the first portable mini projector that I actually kinda like. Really goes to show what quality laser projection can do over LCD tech in even modest applications.
The ShieldTV has the same feature with the touch controlled mouse cursor.
Funny how you did actually point the remote at the projector when you said you dknt have to be pointing it towards it😂😂
What a great design. As long as you have an angled binder to put it on.
Since it has the camera you could theoretically create an app for this that would projection map to 3D objects. That would make this a must have.
Linus - the kind of guy to look down a gun barrel to see if its loaded. @3:10
please make a video showing how to mirror this on an iphone because the option for this device wont show up on my airplay. but i see a video where the option does show up so im confused why it doesnt show up?
I’m just going to wait for a sale on this. Very impressive and I want one but I think I can wait
Watching this gave me a thought of what would it look like if they used some of the lower end projectors on a wall or surface that had that ultra-white paint from purdue. What would the effect be from the projected image?
white isn't always ideal for projectors. Sure it makes your whites brighter, but it also makes your "black" brighter. There's been a big push recently for silver/grey screens for this reason.
The official shield tv remote litteraly has that feature you asked for on the shield tv. It can also type text.
Came looking for this comment 😅
congrats Shortcirucit for reaching 2 million.
I've bought a few of these portable projectors in the past and returned them due to issues like no play store and limited app support. I'm going to try this one and hopefully it's loud enough for outdoor use in the back yard with all the ambient city noises. If not I can just use a Bluetooth speaker I suppose.
In live performances we spend hours on each projector focusing and keystoning. And each one costs about $250,000 and they have interchangeable lenses a lot like a camera.
"What the hell, why did you bring ANOTHER giant can of soda to our outdoor movie night"
"Oh ... you mean THAT? no. That's a projector honey."
Ngl, really impressive what they fit into there. I recommend watching Zac's teardown of it. It's wicked
The Shield Remote App has a trackpad option so you can use a cursor instead of the directional buttons/swiping.
Is it posible if you can make a nebula capsule 2 vs nebula capsule max vs nebula capsule 3? I would love to know every difference each one has 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Another camera for anker to snoop with. Yay.
Only downside is that 2.5 hours is barely enough for one movie, never mind some of the epics out there these days. But other than that it seems pretty cool!
I think you can also plug it in
Just bring a portable
I've owned the Nebula 1, Nebula 2 and Mars and all have been great for my use case (projecting movies onto walls and Hot Tub lids at BBQs). Definitely considering this now it's using Laser tech!
hahaha Linus got his MIB "Deneuralisator" moment
The Nvidia shield tv app gives you a mouse feature :-)
Yeah, thats what i thought.
I have the Capsule 2 and love it for what it is. The lack of netflix certification is a real downside though (you have to sideload the app through the nebula app and its stuck at standard definition)
when you look at thies small projecktors, what do you thing about, epson ef-12, i know it is not battery powered but is it a good bang fore the bug? and do the speakers do really good? and is it maby a good starter projektor, fore some one there never havent a projektor before?
Hello,
After 1.5 year of use, my Nebula Capsule 2 has problems with the image (not focusing properly and very dark image).
Just to let you know, the post-purchase service is not helpful at all as if guarantee is expired they only offer you a bonus to buy a new one and don’t even recommend you services centres in Europe.
I think it’s a problem with the led. Do you know how to repair it?
Besides that, all works perfectly so it’s a pitty.
Thank you!
This thing looks awesome I love portable projectors. Great for camping.

I think you missed the point of camping
This is a prime example of why this channel, the team as well as all other channels are trusted so much. Here we get a sponsored video of a new product. Yes that means they payed to have it spotlighted and the best parts highlighted. From here we get only the facts and honest impression of the product. The entire LTT team has made shopping for tech such a joy. No more worry if what you buy will be what people make it seem. Watch it here and know what you can expect from it. Major props to everyone on the team! Thank you for your hard work!!

Laughed way too hard at Linus blinding himself
I've had a Nebula Capsule since 2019 - it's an older version with lower resolution and an older version of android. And although it is a handy little thing, it certainly has some issues you start to notice after a while. Due to it's small size it has to do a bunch of cooling with a relatively small fan, and is thus quite noisy. It also has a lot of software issues where it'll just freeze or shutdown whatever app you're running. And most apps takes 20-30 seconds to load. Now, it could easily be that it's just because the Nebula Capsule was just at the lower limit of what can run that version of android, so it's possible that this new version has gotten rid of all those issues, but it's not easy to tell from this review.
Awesome kit! Back when I was meeting with my friends weekly to watch anime, this thing would've come in clutch.
Our projector was some crappy no-name thing from years ago we had to cool with a room fan and a cold bucket ontop of it because otherwise it would die.
...untill someone knocked the fan over and broke it into absolute shreds because it was running XD
Just a heads up from another projector brand I had, projector can have a "battery saving mode" by default which turns images green and brightness down. I would want to check if plugging the projector could eliminate the green effect :x (I might be wrong though)
Setting up a presentation while kids are having a sleepover. Checks out
Impressive! They will absolutely have some boost in their sales.
Wait i thought Linus said a BIG NO to ANKER ?! lol
I was curious so thought I would check: Linus said they would stop working with Anker during the WAN show on November 25th. This video was released on November 24th, but will have been filmed/edited earlier than that.
It's pretty good for the size but the menus looked really laggy
Agreed, though I bet in the end putting in a chip fast enough to get rid of all that would have caused them to miss both this price point and the 2.5hr battery rating
@@chalor182 probably but they definitely could have disabled animations or something to smooth it up a bit.
Just purchased this and once out of the box there was a system update, and now the OS is laggy and non-responsive AND when I switch inputs it switches back randomly to the base OS. Getting a Halo + instead.
Got real Canadian when he said “hook this thing up to a soundBAR” haha
Thought the Anker sponsored videos were to be no more after the Eufy security issues
This predates them.
I already have the Nebula Capsule Max and love it! With their stand its easy enough to watch on the Ceiling. The Max is native 720p, but with input goes upto 1080p
Do you know if the 3 does something similar for 4k?
I’ve had them for years and love them , vlc app gives you more settings for sound and enables more volume I’ve found and airplay pro paid app has been the best for ipad to chrome cast .. might have to pop for this now !
What are the pixel response times, input lag, etc. for gaming? Does it support any VRR standard?
I like the audio view let me listen to music from the selectscreen with pit having it full screen so I just move the box to the next song
This kind of reminds me of the episode of Black mirror where they were able to watch each other’s memories on the screen.
This could be the beginning of that.
I was looking into getting a projector for outdoor movie night for my nieces birthdays coming up. Was going to get this until i seen the new Mars 3, and they have 200 off for early buyers. Can't wait to get it.
there is a setting in the TV CZcams app to toggle audio previews on/off
I own one I like it a lot. But have some issues. When I use hdmi what ever I plug into it has a audio lag on it. Lastly he forgot to mentioned and glossed over. You can’t just download Netflix from the play store. You have to do a weird work around that you can only use a mouse or trackpad to navigate Netflix with.
I need one of these! I travel all the time and I can't bring my TV with me. This can fit in a go bag and be a great solution.
Just put in an order for one, they went like 800 and saw the, come down. It’s about 4 something, it’s looking good, especially just use it here n there, but wanted a projector. This looks awesome. I’ll keep you posted when I get mine, but I think I’ll be ok😊 now they have updates n stuff too, so I can watch hbo and all that, may require bit more, but lil work and I’ll be happy with this. Crossing fingers
Should put a rial on the left side of that test studio corner, literally no easier way to block out that ambient light than that.
Very promissing product imho, I hope they continue to develop and evolve it to enhance its performance and reduce it's price.
Been watching you for 12 years and think this is the first time I don't have to google the price thanks
There needs to be a tent mode, where you can direct it at the ceiling of a tent and it auto-adjusts the shape and you can watch lying down.
How does it perform with power plugged in? does it get brighter for instance?
bro, the Shield app has had mouse pad functionality forever! it is actually one of the better companion apps i have ever used especially when the shitty little first party remote would die every two days. I wound up just pairing an old FireTV remote to my Shield but i still use the companion app when i need a mouse
I somehow KNEW he would blind himself with it lmao
I swear, with products like this, Anker has to have some black magic at work in their engineering department.
For the nebula capsule three 800 is a little out of my price range I found the regular nebula capsule do you think that would be sufficient?
If I buy an 8k projector does it project an upscaled 8k image or only what the pc puts out?
is there something like this that can play video from a laptop to the projector wirelessly?
I'm Sorry Dave, I'm Afraid I Can't Do That
Android / Google TV has limitations that TV boxes based on the tablet version of the OS do not have. What Android OS is on this device? Thank you
This is actually really cool
