Car looks fantastic. I daily drive a MK7 stage 3 Golf R with a DBV2 V1 turbo and Bilstein B16 damptronic coilovers. The car still runs fantastic as a daily even in the winter up here in Ontario Canada. You will love the IS38 turbo on the GTI. It's a game changer. You will never sell the car after the upgraded turbo setup. Trust me. My car is tuned by EQT with a custom 94 octane tune. It makes 470-480whp. Best daily driver I have ever owned period.
Sounds nice! Thanks for watching.
I’ve had a MK7 R 6mt and a MK7.5 R dsg, both FBO stage 2 tuned. The 7R by APR and the 7.5R by EQT. I miss them both. I’m an idiot.
How's the lag compared to the stock GTI turbo? Any noticeable difference, for better or worse?
Going on year 3 with my facelift R. IE stage 2 ecu/tcu almost immediately following purchase. No hiccups at all. Only complaint is the price of spark plugs and them having to be done every 15k. Currently done
IE intake, cts inlet, IE downpipe, SuperPro rear sway, SuperPro end links, konig hypergrams, continental dws06+ 245/40r18, tint, VWR style paddle extensions, Zimmerman drilled rotors, ebc red stuff pads, and blue neuspeed stainless brake lines. Stock height and intercooler. Intercooler and a p3 gauge are what I’d like to do next then maybe mounts. Mounts would most likely happen if I upgrade the turbo, which is something I’d do if the factory unit fails. Nice setup. My first MQB was a 15 GTI se manual in the same color as yours, then a 16 GTI autobahn that I went fbo with, and now the R. Between each I had a 370z(turd) and a scat pack charger. No regrets.
Love the vids man! I was wondering, how much camber are you running?
Not sure honestly lol I just get it aligned as close to factory spec as possible for now.
just sold my Auto g37 and was going to get a manual 370z but due to life circumstances now im getting a dsg mk7 gti…
hopefully its more fun to drive than the g
get the gti in manual
My brother I literally have a g37 myself!! I've been having nonstop issues with it as much as I love the car I'm thinking about parting ways and getting a gti too. My friend already has one and it's super clean plus the mods on this platform is significantly cheaper!!
@@voxy8669 gears are way too long
@@sleepervq605 Yeah our cars sound good and look cool but they’re heavy cruisers. Im hella bored
Dude I wish I can do all that om my MK7 SE.....I am just scared touching any that I might destroy it Lol......,it looks easy when you do it "flawless" ....... now we see both of youe cars.....are you fixing your wife's ride too? ..... my NC probably will be adding some front lip and rear diffuser something simple.....keep posting!!
Definitely not allowed to touch the jeep lol. If it was a 4wd trailhawk... Maybe.
@@ColoredinLight Lol ....maybe just some exterior mod....she will appreciate it :)
Don’t be afraid bro. I have a mk7 SE. So many people have done so many things to these cars way before us. There is plenty of research, videos, and forums that you can just look up anything you want to do to guide you on if that’s what you want to do or not. I play on going stage 2 EQT one of these days. Currently working on intercooler and downpipe. I cannot wait for stage 2
Nice review. I own a mk7 gti, and like to have a more sportive sound. Do you recommend a resonator delete and aftermarked downpipe or Just a downpipe.
I'd just do a downpipe and save your money, the resonator really didn't do anything for me
Always keep the resonator. Unless going full custom. Downpipe + muffler delete
Hey bro, did you have to do fender rolling? I am interested in buying those wheels for my GTI but I want to play it safe, and what suspensions do you have?
No fender rolling except the screw modification. HR
a golf sport wagon or a TDI jetta wagon could be a cool next daily
Sport wagons are super cool! IDK if I need another VW though.
Car looking good, how is the smell of having a down pipe? and how is the powerflex dogbone insert going?
Powerflex is great as far as I know. Probably need to check it. Smell is fine, there's still a catalytic converter so it's not bad
@@ColoredinLightthank you, keep doing you and enjoy
How many miles u at now? Still running good?
61,000 and yes definitely!
Anyone have a link to the shift knob ?
dsg-paddles.com/
ugh, stage 2 and all season tires = sad times.
So terrible right? Just trying to daily drive a fun car.
How long has it been stage 2 tuned? Is it reliable?
Couple years now, it's been great
@@ColoredinLight thank you! Looking at a stage 2 with 142k miles this weekend for 10k anything I should keep an eye out for?
Wow that's pretty high mileage!
If you're serious about purchasing - ask owner about carbon cleaning. DSG fluid changes. Spark plug changes. If the water pump was replaced.
I personally wouldn't trust a stage 2 145k mile Volkswagen but you may get lucky.
I've heard really good and really bad things about these cars. What's your take on them as a long-term proposition?
Take care of any car and it will last. You have to do it on VW/Audi and it's not super cheap but I've seen multiple people in the GTI groups pushing 200k miles.
I’m currently at 156k miles. Original peer. 2017 MK7 GTI S 6spd. Been tuned it’s entire life, and been IS38 custom tuned the last 4 1/2 years. Currently custom tuned on meth. Perfect compression still. Runs great. See it lasting another 100k miles easy.
Where's a thumbdowns button
